Rookie Mistakes
I am sure everyone’s seen what Angel had to say, and he has many points, many things I can at least partially agree with. I can be a monster when I want. I have proven I could take anyone in this match to their limit, having beaten or given you all some of your greatest contests. Hell, I even managed to succeed in having Adam FINALLY give a fair match…a match worthy of a handshake and a bit of my respect, should he ever get the cohunes to shake my hand like a respectable man. And I refuse to just leave, no, there are still so many lessons to learn in this business, so many things to gain experience in.
“Adam Knite, congratulations, first and foremost. You took me to my limit and I took you to yours. We had the best match of the year so far, a technical masterpiece, and you won. Good job, and in the future, I shall not make the same mistake of thinking you have yet to earn your stripes. I will not walk in unprepared. You can put me in the back of the line for your title; you can shove me down with your words all you want now, because it will not affect me in the slightest. I took my bruises and bumps and have learned from them. I am still a rookie, maybe you’ll remember you were once in my position…many years ago, Adam. But I am not going to just give up, go home, pack up my ball and say I quit wrestling because I lost my biggest match so far. I’ve only been wrestling professionally since January; I obviously just need a little more experience before challenging again for the World Title before I can WIN.”
I look across my hotel room, and my wife is sleeping in the bed. It’s late, she’s tired. She was there with me, today as I trained for my match this week. I had a tough match, I lost, I must move on. There is no room for rookie mistakes when Angel, a man I respect and have been defeated by so many times, has called upon me to help him this week.
“Angel, how honored I must be to finally be on your team instead of facing off against you. I know you are one of the best here, another man who has yet to be given a chance to shine. You called me a monster, and indeed I can be one. Look at what it took for Adam to put me down. No other man facing him has taken THAT MUCH punishment. No other man has survived that many assaults before finally passing out in a submission hold. I am sorry Burns failed you, getting lynched, I have ALWAYS told you he was the weak link, and that you held the tag titles longer than any other title holder in the whole federation…CARRYING him the whole way, says that you deserve a shot at the World Title more than anyone else in this match, Falcon included.”
Good god, what a freak. Falcon? Didn’t I decimate you before? Didn’t I make you fall after telling you how GOOD you were, and how great a contest it would be?
“Oh yes, the man who beat a psychotic former cripple in a ladder match. Can Prophet fit on a Ladder? He’s practically the same size as Gib; both are so massive the ladder would collapse under their immense weight…let alone the additional weight of YOUR ego. How did you manage to win that match, Falcon? Your ego and thought that you have been “overlooked” is beyond compare. Did I or did I NOT say that you deserved the shot more than me…for the last two weeks? Didn’t I try and build you up? Didn’t I say you should have been in my place? Well now you are, good luck at Battlegrounds, you will need it. Adam is a better man thanks to ME than he was before…you’re screwed. So go to your little friends, your lackeys, and pray they don’t stab you in the back.”
Stab you in the back or run away. You know of whom I speak now.
“Spike, didn’t I, you know, make you RUN HOME TO YOUR MOMMY last time we faced? Didn’t you leave for over a month, after LOSING ONE MATCH? Now you come back, you haven’t won a single Pay Per View match or title like you promised us…what now? Are you going to pull an Ortega or yourself and just disappear again after losing one more “important” match? You figuring out you can’t cut it? That you aren’t Lance Ryan? You need to pack up, go home, the Forgotten don’t need someone as worthless as you dragging them down. I mean COME ON, go HOME! Go cry in your beer and curse me for another couple months before “reinventing” yourself in some no-talent federation and coming back thinking you’re the best thing ever…again.”
Sounds like someone else…I wonder who that COULD BE! Wow…all the new talent and of the returning people hardly one of them has any TRUE CLAIM to anything they have said. I can’t wait until they all realize they have no claim to anything they’ve been saying, the past is in the past. You haven’t meant anything to this company in a year or more…you have to EARN everything…I have.
“You see, I didn’t come in here saying I was the best that ever existed. I came in as nobody; I climbed the ladder, much like everyone else here. So I failed to grasp the brass ring this time, it’s not going to be the ONLY time I ever get a chance. Adam should know, he’s probably had his share of bumps and scrapes before he finally won the first title. He probably lost his first couple attempts before he won his first. And the first is always the sweetest, isn’t it? I want to one day know that sweet taste of victory. Until then, Adam puts his name next to Joe Everyman, Steve Awesome, Angel and virtually no others who have beaten me in singles competition. He’s earned my respect for the time being. Steve, he’s had my respect, I don’t have much to say to him other than “good job keeping Spike where he belongs, at the bottom.” You see, there’s not anyone here BESIDES Spike that isn’t of caliber to be in the same ring as Adam Knite after what went down the last few weeks and months. Everyone here besides him has PROVEN our worth. As for Spike.”
You can go to hell. You haven’t done a damn thing worth merit since you came back. Just like Falcon…good job beating Dark Prophet, which has the same merit as beating HEXX! You haven’t got any clue about what is REAL success here, because when you face someone fairly, you can’t win. Everyone else here, we’re on such a higher level. We give the fans what they want, what they deserve. The best damn match. Now let’s do that again, on Collision…this three-way tag-team contest will be a real show stealer. And when all is said and done, Angel will not have to CARRY his partner to victory, we will work TOGETHER and prove what MONSTERS in the ring we can be. Together, Angel, we could be the best tag team EVER. Say goodbye to Perfectly Normal, and hello to the DETERMINED ONE! Kristoff Liam Bates…Rookie of the Year.
