Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

Basilica di Santa Maria de Fiore
Firenze, Italy
The scene opens outside the Basilica, its large dome dominating the Florentine skyline along with Giotto’s bell towers with points up high towards the heavens. The scene fades to reveals a shot closer to the entrance of the cathedral, the intricate stonework glorifying the saints becoming more visible as the camera pans down to the large entrance way, the three large bronze doors dominating the lower portion of the façade. As the camera fades again it re-emerges inside the building and slowly moves down the aisle revealing the large spacious interior, most of its ornaments and decorations long since lost to local Italian museums. The Basilica is largely empty, save for a few staff members who shuffle to and fro as once again the camera begins to fade, the sound of their shoes striking the coldd, stone floor becoming quieter and quieter. Finally the camera settles on a room away from the main and begins to focus on Roberto Verona who is kneeling before a set off candles which provide the only real light to the dimly lit room. Ignoring the intrusion Verona begins to speak, his hands clasped together and his eyes closed, a small necklace with a cross dangling between his fingers.
Roberto Verona : Dear Lord, frankly I don’t really know what to say to you. I admit that I only search you out in my times of need, when the darkness shrouds every which way I turn I cannot help but seek out the light and now it feels as though even that is being denied to me. I have been lax ever since you took my parents from me, I am not too proud to admit that. When you took them one by one I couldn’t understand why? Why would you turn your back on me when I have done nothing wrong? I hunted criminals who would have otherwise escaped unpunished, I chased down men for profit I admit but my motives were always pure. Nothing I ever did was filled with malice or malcontent, I served you in the interests of justice and retribution for those who had wronged others.
Then I realised, you had never turned your back on me. You had simply helped open my eyes to the realities of the world and revealed just how cruel life can be. I realised that no matter how many people I caught, they would never all be convicted despite being as guilty as sin, the system was just too easy to manipulate and no matter how many you filled there was always another loophole for them to jump through. If I had just carried on I would have been broken, I couldn’t take seeing any more of those smug bastards slip through the net just to go back out there and hurt somebody else on a technicality. I realised that money meant more in life than a person’s quality; I began to understand that the richer you were the more you could get away with.
Then it struck me, it wasn’t just the legal system that was broken, but society itself. People all over the world fall at the feet of celebrities and worship at the altars of false idols; men and women who do not deserve their money, praise and total obedience. They hang on every word that comes out of their mouths, lapping up the trashy gossip that permeates from Hollywood like a pen of pigs gorging themselves at the trough. People in their millions flock like sheep to pour adoration over hundreds of celebrities who don’t deserve their love, who are no better than those who jump at the chance to scream their names and plaster themselves in their merchandise.
When I handed in my license I realised that there was so much wrong with the world and if nobody else was going to make a stand against all of the bull****, then I would. I realised that people needed to open up their eyes and come to terms with the realities of the world, to understand that until they do they will continue to spiral into a well of inadequacy and never fulfil their potential. Then it dawned on me, that if they were so intent on worshipping at the feet of athletes, actor, musicians and their ilk then I would ensure that they would have somebody worthy of their praise. I utilised my training from high school as a wrestler and combined them with what I had learned as a bounty hunter and I rode into New Championship Wrestling with a simple goal; to bring them a revolution that would oust those false peacocks that strutted around backstage like they were owed something and replace them with people who truly deserve the glory that was been absorbed by arrogant, self-centred nobodies.
Roberto bows his head, gripping the necklace tightly in his hands before continuing to speak aloud.
Roberto Verona : I have suffered a few setbacks, but I am not downhearted. On the contrary, I am now more determined than ever to bring about the change this company needs. I have learnt that you cannot be a nice guy in this business, you need to play dirty and make the rights friends in the right places and now I can honestly say I am more ready than I was when I walked into this saloon of debauchery. In the past few weeks I have learnt the hard way, but instead of moping around I have dusted myself off and gotten straight onto business. My passion is resolute and unwavering, I will not give in because of a few failures and I will not stop until I am successful. No matter how many times I fall, I will always get up and dust myself off and throw myself back right into the middle of the fight because this isn’t a war I can lose.
Look after my parents; it is about time I made them proud of me again.
In nomeni Patri et Filii et Spiritus Sancti
Amen.
With that Roberto make the sign of a cross first on his head, then his left shoulder followed by his right before finishing the symbol on his chest.

The scene opens on a balcony overlooking the city of Florence, the midday sun emitting a warm orange glow over the rooftops, the whitewashed walls shining brightly as a flock of birds race majestically in formation across the sky. The bells of the Basilica ring out as some noise can be heard off camera before Roberto Veron walks into shot. Leaning over he adjusts the position of the camera before taking a seat on a nearby table, placing a cup of coffee beside himself, the steam from the beverage swirling skywards. After making himself comfortable Roberto places his sunglasses over the front of his collar before beginning to speak into the lense.
Roberto Verona : I suppose, because I am such a generous man, I should take time out from my vacation to say a few words to the nCw Universe about my upcoming match at Sovereign against Todd “The Dreamer” Williams, or should I say the new nCw X Champion Todd Williams.
Roberto begins to clap slowly, smiling sardonically into the camera before ceasing his applause.
Roberto Verona : Congratulations Todd, you finally achieved your goal and captured the belt you have been striving to win for the past month after beating Paul Star, something that feels an age ago. I may be cocky, self-confident and bristling with complete contempt for you but I offer you a whole hearted and genuine congratulations. Well done on capturing the X Championship Todd, because even I wouldn’t begrudge you a moment of happiness as your life visibly falls apart around you.
Roberto leans forward and take a sip of his coffee, grasping the cup in his right hand before continuing to speak.
Roberto Verona : You know for a man who clearly lacks intelligence you’ve been making a whole bunch of theories up in that empty chasm you call a skull, bravo for you period of enlightenment but I am afraid I will have to bring your Renaissance to an abrupt close. Well, I guess the first and most humorous accusation you had to fling towards me Todd was that your victory over me a few weeks ago is eating me up inside and is the cause for all my bad luck of late. Despite all these claims that I am the one who is arrogant and self-centred you sure have your own little penchant for egotism don’t you Williams? I hate to break it to you Todd but my recent defeats have nothing to do with you and have everything to do with myself. I haven’t finished off my opponents and I have paid the price, rest assured it won’t be happening again at Sovereign. No Todd, you have my full attention and nothing will be taking away my focus from our match this Sunday. Losing to you was indeed a shock but hey, every dog has its day. When I achieve my goals a defeat to you will be long since confined to history and forgotten about, so feel free to bask in the limelight for now.
Roberto smiles, shaking his head before conintuing.
Roberto Verona : As for your claim that your career highlight was what forced me into joining the Young Guns, well I am afraid that as per usual you are wrong again. My motives for joining up with Trish and Venom are quite simple Todd, I have aligned myself with people who are useful to me achieving my own ends. I have aligned myself to people who are like me, people who know what they want and will do anything they have to do to make sure they get what they want. Doing everything on your own in this business will end up with only one conclusion and that is a career of near misses. Only a complete simpleton would try to go it completely alone Todd, I have simply teamed up with a group of people who can only benefit one another in achieving their aims. As for you coming to take us all out, one by one? That is real cute Todd, but you just can’t fight dirty enough to win in a war with the Young Guns and that is the difference between me and you. I will do whatever it takes to get to where I want to be, you are just far too nice for your own good.
Roberto places his coffee back down on the table before leaning back in his chair and continuing to speak.
Roberto Verona : Despite completely failing at being an amateur philosopher it seems that your bravado hasn’t taken much of a dent over the past few weeks. Really Todd, Italian Queer? Wow, is somebody getting a little bit desperate to show everybody how superior he is to me? Your rampant misplaced homophobia aside I do enjoy watching you stomp around like a little child shouting to anybody who will listen to you that you completely understand why I screwed Rob Diamond out of his championship belt on Collision a few days ago. I mean it must be because I just wanted to make sure I got a shot at the X Championship a few weeks down the line right? I mean why else would I be out there helping out a man who I like about as much as syphilis?
Smirking to himself, Roberto leans forward.
Roberto Verona : Todd, you really couldn’t be more wrong and just like everybody else your just going to have to wait a little bit until I tell you exactly why I interfered in your match, but please feel free to go ahead and make your predictions. I am sure that you will probably brush it all off and act like you really don’t care, but we all know that unless you really are a complete moron that little nagging doubt in the back of your head will be begging the question; what the hell was Verona doing? Why would he help a chump like me?
Suddenly Roberto stops smiling, a more serious look washing over his face.
Roberto Verona : All in due course, all that matters Todd is that you know that no matter what you say I am focused on taking you down. You may have won the first battle, but you need to do more than that to beat me. I don’t play nice Todd, when I drove my knee into your face and then stomped the crap out of you I was sending you a message not impressing the Young Guns. That message is simple, don’t rest on your laurels and don’t let your confidence after our last match cloud your judgement, because this weekend at Sovereign I will not be walking away as a loser again. No matter what, I will do what is necessary to get the job done one way or another.
Leaning back and smiling once again, Roberto continues to speak in a more light hearted tone.
Roberto Verona : Now, Todd, I will leave you to get back to playing on your X-Box and ruining your marriage and get back to enjoying my time off before I fly back to America to attend to the business of wiping that smile of your face. Enjoy your time with your new belt for as long as you can, because at Sovereign your long steak of luck will come to an abrupt end. Ciao.
With that Roberto leans forward towards the camera as we see Hannah walk into shot and join him and as we hear a click, followed by a beep, the feed cuts to static.
