Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Opinion: Damn, n rpg I can finally sink my teeth into. I've tired of the old turn based system now and I love that Square Enix can hash out a very involving rpg that is semi-action based. For the first time in a while I actually give a crap about the characters I'm playing! Currently about 12 hours into it and I'm only on disc one of three. Value for money it seems...
AND
Prototype Opion: Fun. Pure evil fun. Let me put it this way I was driving a tank and running people over then I noticed I was getting experience points for running innocent people over. I haven't played too much of the story, rather just messed about as Star Ocean has taken up most of my time. But this is like Assassin's Creed meets Crackdown, it's just so much fun to play. Get it.

My bro has Prototype...and he's installed it on my mom's computer too...I really wonder if I should try playing it...it looks like fun...but it also could cut into my classic game playing via SNES, NES and Gameboy emulators lol. Yeah...I'm such a poor soul as far as systems go now that my PS2's fan fried like a bitch.

I dunno, I started when I saw them doing the week of FF games lol...gave me an itch to play it again...cuz FFII is the ONLY ONE I never beat that I've owned...IV, VI, V, VII VIII IX I III(NES rom) but...II I have NEVER beaten, not even once...which pisses me off a lot. So I'm trying to beat it lol. And I used to have Star Ocean: Till the end of Time...got bored by the beginning of Disk 2...it was GREAT first disk then the story dragged on... Maybe after FFII I can go back to Oblivion...I still have yet to go to Shivering Isles...and now that the Dark Chest of Wonders has been revealed...I wanna get that ring of the Oceanborn

I just can't bare to play that game for extended periods of time.... its so boring. And I've played through the first three Star Ocean games, and I've gotta agree on TTEOT.... it starts off really awesome then slows down...ALOT, but it does pick back up towards the very end.

FF1 is completely outclassed by the games that came after it, if FF2 didn't get so boring after long stints of playing than it would trump 1 too. 1 is a very good game, but Square took everything that was good about it and made it better in the later games. 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,12 all just smoke 1 in every category there is to judge a game on.

FFVI > ALL
Chrono Trigger and Mass Effect >>>> RPG the will ever come up
And I'm almost done with LttP, I plan on replaying a lot of the Zelda games (cept OoT... beat this **** like gangbusters), Review/Retropective.
Which is kind of funny, b/c I have like 3-4 reviews I've yet to finish but now since I've got all my files transferred to the new computer, so now that I have my own, I will be able to finish some of this stuff.

FFVI and Chrono Trigger >>> Anything anyone could ever hope to accomplish ever.
But I spend all my time, when I'm not here, like Sam does in the world of MMO...
Final Fantasy XI..
Sam.. stop.. WoW... or... I... Kill...

Prototype is one fuc*ing kick a*s game. One of my favorite things is grabbing a bystander and run up the side of a tall building then when reach the top jump up as high as can then throw the bystander and watch them go flying for a few blocks before going splat on the pavement.

FFVII > FFVI > FF9 > FFIII > FFX Chrono Trigger is awesome, Chrono Cross... horrible. Case could be made for it as the best RPG ever, but I honestly think FF6 was the better game. And didn't you say Earth Bound was the best RPG ever last time? LTTP > OOT

I still very much enjoy the game, but for some reason that final boss is just a pain in my butt, it takes me like 5 tries every time I play through the game. A lot more than that the first time through.

Final bosses in RPG on any console pre-PS1/N64 era had to be a complete cheap pain in the ass

But shouldn't a final boss be a complete pain in the ass? I mean, Bowser and Ganon are push overs in every single game they are in, but in the good games, the final boss is meant to kick your ass. In Golden Sun, everything is fairly easy up until the final boss(es), in which is doesn't matter what level you are, they still destroy you. Same goes for Tales of Symphonia. I seem to always get beaten on the final boss. But, that's how games should be every time. <WoW moment> Every dungeon boss is fairly easy even on the hard difficulties, but when you face people like Illidan, Yogg-Saron and C'Thun, they beat the high hell out of you </WoW moment>. I personally say Ganon and Bowser should get some boosts too

Yeah, I said Earthbound was the greatest game ever. That was during the whole conversation where we kept trumping each other with 'greatest game ever'. Earthbound was a great game, and there will never be anything else quite like it except a sequel or a remake.
Btw, Adam you finish Battletoads yet?

Tales of Symphonia is awesome. It made my gamecube worthwhile, in fact I still have it just in case I get the itch.
As far as RPG's go, I've barely played FFVI and haven't got the patience to play the earlier one's. Plus I kinda lost faith after x, x-2 and XI. My sister bought me XI for the xbox and I was like "Oh cool....wait, install it? Wait...monthly payments!? F*ck that!"
But I have tried to branch out and play different rpgs that I otherwise wouldn't have. I hated Morrowind, so playing Oblivion was a big step, Fallout 3 was uber-awesome although I only had it for a week (rented) I even got Phantasy Star Universe after playing the free multiplayer demo. I'm still not willing to pay monthly fee's to play online on top of my xbox live subscription. Then there's Blue Dragon, decent but get's irritating after a while because the battle music is this same power metal song over and over and over....
What else have I tried?
Umm....Eternal Sonata, decent semi-action based rpg, although the cut-scenes are terribly done like anything translated in america. Still need to finish this one.
Lost Odyssey, although my save got deleted and it was far too boring to replay what little I had done.
Mass Effect, it feels unfair to class this as an rpg, because I just went gung-ho as a soldier. Amazingly awesome game and anybody with a decent shred of gaming knowledge should play this.
Then of course there's World of Warcraft. Like FFXI I refuse to pay monthly fees to play online. But when I had my operation Sam bought it for me as a gift and it came with a certain amount of time trial. Stuck in the house....I gave in and played it. And it was fun, untill Sam started killing everything and thus making my quests at least twice as long. And then of course killing me......over powered bastard. Ok he didn't kill me, he cast a spell which made me run off losing control into a swarm of harpies....that killed me. It was fun and interesting, untill the slow realisation that I was doing the same thing over and over again.......my trial ran out and haven't played it since.
I've currently started playing Dawn of War II once again, trying to complete it on Primarch difficulty. The "final" bosses in this are pretty sweet, an Ork Warboss and the Bloody Handed God Khaine of the Eldar.
Fun........right?
"STRIKE FROM THE SKIES BROTHERS!"

Final Bosses are supposed to be tough not..."cheap". FFVI's final boss can be tough... FFIV's and V's final bosses are cheap pieces of crap.

There is a sequel and an NES Earthbound that actually came first, so technically there was something like Earthbound before... Earthbound. I will never have the patience to beat that game.

Mother 3...the original was a lot like Earthbound but...only in Japan and actually not that good considering they were trying to do so much stuff with the NES that had never been tried. So basically, we gotta live with what we've got. And yeah...Golden Sun PWNS. It's a really fun RPG.
