~*~*~The two greatest, not of the last year, but of all time. They face off this Sunday at Metamorphosis in the confines of an nCw ring. The Icon and The Face of the Franchise will make this night huge, and this match will indeed be the biggest match of the evening. What will give when the two biggest names in nCw history square off in the ultimate wrestling match?~*~*~[/i]
Sunday Night, January 31st. The end of the first month of a new millennia, the night that nCw delivers their first pay per view of the millennium, and the evening when a match that has been in the making for a year and a half will steal the show. It’s epic Steve isn’t it? Can you feel the buzz in this city? Not a lot gets LA buzzing, but this match is on the lips of everyone. It is on the lips of the fans, it is on the minds of the wrestlers and I can guarantee you that it is on the minds of Angel and Falcon. How on earth do you follow up a match between the two greatest in ring performers of all time? I can feel it Steve. All of my thoughts, all of my beliefs aside, I can feel the adrenaline that comes with being the best and facing the best. Many people have the goal of being the best in their line of work, and when they get there, they feel like they have done it all. Every day we see people retire young in sports, in wrestling, in every day life. They get to the top and they feel like their job is done, but guys like you and me? We know that they are wrong. Getting to the top is hardly all that there is to do. When you are the king of the mountain, the real joy comes in kicking everyone else below you as they try to climb upon your pedestal. You know what I am talking about Steve, you have been one of the top dogs for some time now. That is what this match is about for both of us, this match is about proving once and for all which one of us is better and which one of us is indeed the best wrestler in the history of this company. That is the question, who is the better man Steve?
~*~*~There really is nothing else like it.~*~*~[/i]
It’s that time of the year. The Superbowl is just around the corner, the NHL and NBA race to the playoffs are ramping up, and baseball is in it’s silly season. There is nothing though that rivals a battle between the two best in any sport. Look at the Superbowl this year, the buzz for that is astounding. New Orleans and Indianapolis are two teams that looked like they were perhaps headed for an undefeated season, they are two teams that dominated the competition and they are two teams that clearly from start to finish were the best two teams in football this year. Sounds familiar doesn’t it Steve? There is a theme here. The difference however is that in team sports it takes a lot for a dynasty created. A team is built, rebuilt, torn apart and created by people that do not even participate on the field. In wrestling, it is a different story. In wrestling to become dynamic, you must become a self made man and you must take the time and effort to reach the top and stay there. There is nothing like being a dominant force in wrestling because you know when you are the best that YOU are the reason that you are the best. So Steve, as much as I have ragged on you before about the fact that you were handed the ball, I will admit that when you ran with it, you were the best in this company and you used the tools that god gave you to remain on top. You were given a chance, and you took it and did everything that you could with that chance. For that you deserve respect, for that you have earned a lot of money…but this Sunday, your time is over. I am tired of talking, I am tired of hearing people doubt my abilities, it is time to get into the ring, prove again to those that know me, and show those that don’t why exactly I am known as The Icon and why I will be the best damn wrestler in this company for as long as I stay here.
~*~*~Arrogance versus Confidence.~*~*~[/i]
Steven Awesome, I love that you come out here every time you speak and you explain that I am arrogant. You talk about the fact that I am always so sure of my abilities and that I have been wrong since returning. Perhaps you should clean out your ears, because I have explained myself time and time again in the past week. I don’t hide from the fact that I lost to Joe Everyperson three times. I don’t hide from the fact that I have been less than stellar at times since I came back, hell, I have explained that my mind and my spirit were truly not in the right place. But look back over my long career, even take a sneak peak at the career that I have had here, when have I excelled Steve? I have excelled when I am in a BIG game atmosphere. I have excelled when all of the chips are on the table, I have excelled when I needed to excel. Nobody cares if I beat Joe Everyman, but everybody is talking about this match between the two of us Steve.
With all due respect to the Face of the Franchise, this is one match where you are the one that will be receiving the wake up call. I find it almost funny that you are the one that is preaching to me about my over-confidence. I find it funny that you are the man that is telling me that I should reign it in, after all, when talking about confidence and arrogance in nCw, your name is actually the first one that comes to mind. Steve, this all started with a kick to the jaw and on Sunday, odds are pretty good that the match will end with a kick to the jaw, the question is who will be doing the kicking and who will be the one staring at the lights.
~*~*~Something everyone should realize.~*~*~[/i]
Since I came back, it has been all about gimmicks for me and face time. I tried to help out a young nobody named W squared. I tried to buddy up with a man that I love like family in Brad Kane, but in case you haven’t noticed, the mood has changed. Things are back to the way that they were when I was the world champion. I am focused, I am determined and I am on my way to the top of the mountain. I found my gear, I have Steve Awesome in my sights, and I am prepared to make this trek. You won’t find me on the road with the janitor, you wont find me joking around about drunken deadbeats in the street, no. This is business now, and there is no gimmicks. This is two of the best, head to head, and if I lose, I will admit defeat to a better man, much like I have done many times in my career, but if I win, I expect much of the same from you Steve. Stand down, and let me pass because you are between me and my rightful spot in this company. Yes, the talent is deeper, and yes the wrestlers are better, but I have been around long enough that I know how to change my game and I know what it takes, one thing in life will always be true, and that is that you cannot stop a man that exhumes success. Steve, we both do, the question is, which one of us if up to the task this Sunday?

~*~*~Suddenly Lance is interrupted and we hear a very loud banging on the door. Lance looks more than slightly irritated and he gets up to check the door of his hotel room. As he opens the door we see Chad Lights standing at the door and he appears to be very nervous. He is shaking and stumbling over his words and Lance interrupts him.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: This had better be good Chad, everyone knows not to disturb me on the night before a big match!
Chad Lights: L…Lance…I know that you have strict rules about being bothered on a Saturday before a pay per view, but I was told to give this to you tonight and told that if I did not, I would pay for my mistake.
~*~*~Chad hands Lance an envelope and Lance takes it with a disgusted look on his face and he slams the door in the face of Chad. Lance quickly tears the end of the envelope open and slides out the mail inside. He opens the letter and begins to read. As he is reading a look crosses his face of complete and total anguish. Just then, Cassandra opens the door to the hotel room and Lance’s face changes, but not before Cassandra caught a glimpse. She grabs the letter out of Lance’s hands and starts to read. Lance calmly backs up and sits down on the bed. Cassandra tosses the letter onto the desk in the room and looks incredibly ticked.~*~*~[/i]
Cassandra: I thought that we were rid of that retched woman. I thought for sure that when she wound up behind bars that we would never have to deal with this again. Now she is going to try and claim custody of Zell? Babe, relax, this is nothing more than a major waste of everyone’s time. There is no way that she can convince a court to give her custody.
Lance: You have no idea the things that Jessy is capable of Cassandra. She manipulated me and made my life a living hell for years and years. If there is a way, she will find it. She is the most manipulative woman that I have met in my entire life, but I need to deal with this later. My son will not be taken away from me, much like my spot.
Cassandra: Shouldn’t we talk about this?
~*~*~Lance stares off into space for a moment and then quietly speaks in a subdued voice.~*~*~[/i]
Lance: No. Not now.
Cassandra: So this is what we are back to again? Wrestling is more important than your family? More important than your son?
~*~*~Lance turns away from Cassandra now and looks back into the camera. This time he is speaking more evenly and with a tone that is filled with anger in his voice.~*~*~[/i]
-----------------------------------------
That’s just it Steve, that is what this has come down to. Our match tomorrow night is more important than family, more important than anything. I know this, and you know this. After all, that is why you are on the road with the company janitor instead of trying to fix things with your better half. This match is bigger than you, me or this company. This match is going to be on an entirely different level, and only one of us is going to take another step forward. The other, he gets to tuck tail and deal with day to day family problems. Personally, I know I’d rather keep my eyes on what is most important…the World Title.
~*~*~Off camera we hear the slam of a door and assume that Cassandra has stormed out of the room leaving Lance alone again. Lance smirks, leans back on the bed and closes his eyes as the scene starts to fade.~*~*~[/i]
The reason that I am the Icon is because I don’t give a damn about anyone but myself. That is why I have always been successful and that is why I will rise to the top again. Meta. Awesome. You will be defeated.
