A good friend of mine once said that when something was done, it was done. And the more time you spent trying to figure out what you could have done differently, the less time you'll have for making it right. That the only way to get through anything, whether it be hurt, pain, sadness or sorrow, was to move forward. I'd like to say this was a bit of serendipity and Chris told me that, but he wasn't a very poetic man, as the world by now knows. It was good old Jack, and even though most people didn't care about him, he was still like you or I Rob.
Just trying to get by.
I wish I had the answers, really, I do. It pains me knowing that you hurt, and I mean for real hurt this time, and there's nothing I can do about it. I've tried for your entire career to look after you, not just because Chris has been one of my best friends for years, but because I truly believe that it will be guys like you and Jacobsen who carry this company tomorrow, when all of us are gone. I just tried to teach you the things I had to learn the hard way. Lessons I learned only after I felt the pain of being burned. But, you ran off and made your own mistakes, and on some level that's also my fault. So... if nothing else..
I'm sorry for that.
And that's the last time you'll hear me say that.
(Falcon sat at the kitchen table, his laptop in front of him. Several webpages were open, one for some kind of car service, the other a florist, and he was mulling over options when Zelda bounced into the room. He hunched reflexively, almost closing the laptop until he realized she was headed for the freezer and not his side.)
Falcon: Hot pocket?
Zelda: Yessir.
Falcon: How many is that today...?
(Zelda paused for a second, looking at the ceiling in a cute gesture of being lost in thought.)
Zelda: Hmmm... five so far.
Falcon: That's impressive.
(She stuck her hip out in a little pose.)
Zelda: Hey, as long as I look like this I can eat what I want.
Falcon: Of course. I'm just amazed you can stand the taste of them to eat five in a day.
Zelda: So says the Cup of Noodles guy..
(Falcon looked at the empty Cup of Noodles at his side. Then shrugged, laughing it off.)
Falcon: So we all have our vices.
(She placed another crisp, delicious hot pocket into the microwave and pressed a few buttons so it would cook, then bounced around the table. Quick as a cat, he pulled up another window, showing a screen of a game instead of the web browsing he was doing.)
Zelda: Whatcha up to?
Falcon: Just trying in vain to get somewhere as a Dark Knight.. how's the new stuff?
Zelda: It's awesome... but they told me not to say it on camera or there'd be riots on the street if they new I got a copy early.
Falcon: Well, we can't have that.
(Both give a quick glance to the camera.)
Falcon: How was that trip... by the way?
Zelda: Well.. he brought up some good points...
For all the things you can say Rob Diamond is, there's one thing I wish he wasn't.
Chris Diamond's "little" brother.
Now now, don't get all in an uproar. See, whether you've ever heard of him or not, Chris Taylor makes an impact where-ever he wrestles. He's a true legend by not only being a great competitor and a dedicated wrestler, but by being almost larger than life. When you have that sort of clout, that kind of appeal, everyone underneath gets lost in the cloud of dust. You think people from that era of time remember me? Nope, Angel and Maniac.. that's who they idolized, I was just another guy in the fold. I know what that stigma is like, following you everywhere, unable to escape it. But if I thought it was bad... for Rob..
It's worse.
Waking up every day, knowing that no matter what you do, no matter how awesome you are, there will be people who won't be impressed just because of their love for someone else. I know it's like that with some of my fans Rob, and it hurts to admit that too. But you know what, if you're determined to make this your last stand, then so be it. You want me to try to make you go away?
Done.
But you know how that saying goes.
It's going to hurt me...
More than it does you.
(Falcon sighed, then pushed the screen down on his laptop, putting it into a sleep mode. Then he turned to face Zelda.)
Falcon: I'm sure he did. The sad thing here is there is no right or wrong in this situation. They're doing what anyone in their position would do. The opportunity was extended to them, and they accepted it. It doesn't make them evil, and if I didn't have to fight them, I wouldn't. Period.
Zelda: They said it was all retaliation. All of it..
Falcon: I'd like to believe that.. except this whole mess began when they all decided they just had to have a piece of Brad Kane that one night a week after Reborn. Maybe they were just trying to send a message, but what kind of message does it send? Brad didn't attack them, he didn't do anything a hundred other people hadn't already done. It doesn't make any sense to hold your hands up in indignance if you started the party, you know?
(Zelda looks away for a second, and Falcon puts an arm around her waist, pulling her closer.)
Falcon: Look.. Zelda.. I'll meet with them if that's what they want. I'll listen to what they have to say, but they're going to have to show me some kind of good will first. I mean, take the other week.. I've dedicated a little more than two years of my life to this company.. and I was recognized by a commitee and placed in a hallowed shrine, and the first thing Velez can do is go on Twitter and disgrace that? Forgive me for saying this, but thats quite a big slap in the face and a large measure of unprofessionalism.
Zelda: You promise.. you'll try to stop this without fighting?
Falcon: Of course. I've been through enough wars in my lifetime, I'd much rather just go back to things being simple. But they need to lay down the arms first. They want me to believe their intentions are good? Put aside the ego and treat me like a professional instead of some kid off the street... ok?
(Zelda slid onto his lap.)
Zelda: Ok...
(Falcon opened his laptop up again, and the game came back up.)
Zelda: Dual weilding axes.. as a Dark?
Falcon: What can I say... I love me some Rampage..
Zelda: That's why I like you.. you're such a rebel.
(End.)
Just trying to get by.

Cool to disapear
But I missed you most days
An army of tattooed angels
Have brought me back today.

Burn, baby burn
Strung out on a wire
Heart in a cage
You're so full of desire
You need, fast hands
To Deal with all the liars
And Bulletproof skin
To keep you alive.
To lose you is to never love again..
