Brad Kane
Megan Kane
The sun beats down through the wind shield of what appears to be a brand new mini van, black in color except for red strips along the sides. Looks to be a custom paint job. In the driver's seat is Brad Kane, wearing a pair of sunglasses, Boston Red Sox cap along with a red t-shirt that has the logo of AFI on it. In the passenger's seat is Megan, in another sunflower looking dress as she appears to be uncomfortable in the seat as her stomach is still pretty well expanded. She sighs as Lilly is in one of the backseats, in a car seat, the safe way and all that happy stuff. The back windows have a bit more tint on them to keep the sunlight from beating down on her. She's peacefully sleeping as Brad turns into a giant parking lot. It is, indeed, a Wal-Mart parking lot. It's not really all that busy today but the number of cars still indicated otherwise. People are seen walking about in summer apparel, some walking out of the store with carts full of sacks while others are walking in. However, this is a special Wal-Mart as there are parking spots with a special sign on them, one for pregnant mothers so they don't have to walk as far.
He parks the car as Megan is quick to open up her door. Her sandals hit the cement as she nearly sighs with relief. Megan doesn't waste a second of time as she starts heading towards the store entrance. This leaves Brad opening up the back of the mini van, getting out a stroller for his daughter. He unfolds it as he shuts the trunk, walking to the side door. It slides open as Lilly has started to wake up through all the noise. She doesn't seem to be upset as Brad unhooks her and lifts her out. A smile forms on his daughter's face as she gets placed in her stroller. Before shutting the door, he makes sure to grab a bag, full of supplies that everyone needs if they have an infant. Once everything is set, Brad slides the door back shut as pulls out his keys and uses it to lock van up.
Brad begins to push the stroller, bag slung over his shoulder as people look at him a little weird. As other people would want you to think, some men don't run away from being a father. Brad Kane has embraced fatherhood for the past nine years, ever since his son was born. For the past nine years he's had at least one child and soon, it'll be up to three. Regardless, the entrance doors slide open as Megan is sitting on a bench, cart right next to her. She still looks uncomfortable as she stands up and leans against the cart. There isn't a purse to be found as Brad looks as his wife, smiling the whole time. She hardly shares the same enthusiasm but they move on into the store, the actual inside portion of the store anyways.
People are about in full force as Brad pushes Lilly while Megan uses the cart to help herself. The first section they amble towards are clothes, the girls section if you will. Looks like Brad's been dragged along on a clothes shopping expedition. Sure they have money but why use it all. They're building a family, might as well save it back for college funds and all that. Anyways, once they get there, Brad looks for a bench to sit on. No luck as he is forced to follow Megan about, as she looks to be enthralled now, thinking of the possibilities for all their daughters to wear and stuff. Shaking his head, Brad looks over some of the displays and notices a huge "Entertainment" sign in the air. A smile comes across his face as Megan turns around and sees him drifting towards it.
No, you aren't going over there. You're staying here and helping me pick out clothes. Just because you felt the need to go bombs away on me doesn't give you the right to go off and wander. Jesus Christ, I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who gives a rat's ass about having these kids. If you wanna go off, go off and don't come back. Jackass.
A few other women shopping with their daughters look over to see a very angry pregnant woman yelling at her husband. A couple of them snicker, obviously having gone through the same thing. Brad sighs again as he starts to feign interest in little Winnie The Pooh onesies.
That's better. Your goal for this trip is to find one piece of clothing for either Lilly or one of the twins they can wear in a few months. I see you out of this section, hell to pay.
Brad nods his head. He starts to look around on the floor as Megan stares daggers at him...
And if you even think of asking me to help you find your testicles, you really won't be able to find 'em. Got it?
He nods his head again as he turns Lilly's stroller around and begins to look for something. Lilly doesn't much pay attention to the clothes, instead staring at all the people that walk around. She's rather fascinated with everything that's going on around her. She sees a few other babies and giggles as they look at each other. Brad is looking at dresses for Lilly, not really finding much of anything though. A few moments pass by as Lilly starts to fuss a little bit. Thinking quickly, Brad kneels down and places the bag on the floor. He doesn't smell anything wrong with his daughter as he pulls out her pacifier. It hovers near her mouth as she wants nothing to do with it. He puts it away as he instead grabs a bottle. When this goes near Lilly's mouth, she embraces it. Brad closes the bag as he stands back up and puts it back over his shoulder. Megan looks back to see him looking intently as the dresses as a smirk comes across her face. There is already a good deal of stuff in the cart as Brad continues his search, the search to keep his testicles.
He might have found something. Brad pulls it off the rack as he snickers to himself. It's something you'd find at Hot Topic or something. For some odd reason, this Wal-Mart has a little black and red AFI dress. Yes, an AFI dress for a baby, deal with it. He smiles as he turns the stroller around. Megan is standing still as she sees her husband coming back to her with the dress in hand. Instead of handing it to her, Brad simply puts it in the cart. Megan shoots him another look as she picks the dress up out of the cart. A huge, glowing smiling comes across her face as she suddenly looks to hug her husband.
Oh my god! This is so cute!
You aren't gonna fit in babe. It's for Lilly.
Megan glances at him but her current mood can't be ruined. She places the dress over Lilly as her heart begins to sing. Lilly has her bottle in hand yet, sucking away on it as Megan has a few tears begin to stream down her face.
She's just so beautiful. Do you think Sarah and Jennifer are gonna be as beautiful as Lilly?
Brad can't help but smirk as he nods his head.
There's a good chance of it. Just look at who their mother is. Seriously Megs, when these girls reach that high school age, I'm gonna be flipping out because all the guys are gonna drooling on them. I'll hate it but I'll manage.
Megan puts the dress back in the cart as she starts to lead Brad out of the current section. He looks up in the sky and mouths "Thank you" as they continue walking. They walk past the food section as it's becoming more apparent about where they're headed. Yes, Brad gets to go to the... Entertainment section! A nearly childish grin comes across his face as he takes the lead and Megan follows. Once near the DVDs, he walks past the new releases and goes right for the kid's stuff. Uh oh... he has his eyes on the Blues Clues stuff. For those who don't know, Lilly always pays attention to Blues Clues despite being so young. Brad loves watching it with her so.. call him whatever you want but he loves spending time with Lilly.
Megan starts to roll her eyes as at least two of them make their way into the cart. He then backs up as he starts to look at the new releases. He doesn't really see anything of note that he needs so he keeps walking past. All that wait, all the time he wanted to look at the DVDs and he's done within two minutes. Megan slaps her forehead as she follows Brad out of the DVDs and right into the video games. Brad looks at the 360 stuff. Nothing really there he wants either as he keeps walking. By this time, Lilly has had enough of her bottle as she basically throws it on the floor and begins to cry. Brad sighs as she picks her bottle up off the dusty floor. He quickly picks up Lilly out of her stroller, basically leaving it in the middle of the aisle as he begins to hurry off towards the bathroom. She's done something and it's not too great.
Once inside the bathroom, he locates the changing station and lowers it. Lilly is still crying as her diaper looks a little heavy. Brad puts the bag on the table as he starts to dig around until he finds what he needs, diapers and everything else of that sort. A couple of moments later, giggles are heard as Brad is blowing on his daughter's stomach. A clean diaper is on as the old one is tossed in the trash. Lilly's Winnie the Pooh dress is pulled back down as Brad begins to carry his daughter and the bag again. He finally gets back to where the stroller was as Megan looks to be giving out. Lilly gets put back in as Brad has a look of concern on his face.
We need to head out of here babe?
Megan nods, not saying anything. They make their way through the store and check out without saying a single word amongst each other. Once everything is paid for and put in the van, including little Lilly, Brad starts the van up. Megan holds her stomach as Brad looks very concerned right now.
Do I need to take you?
Megan slowly shakes her head as she is wincing a bit.
No, they're just kicking really hard right now. Like fighting each other. I think I stood up for too long.
When we get home then, I'll worry about gettin' all the stuff away, you just take care of you right now okay?
She doesn't say anything again. Silence fills the car as Megan closes her eyes. Brad looks in the rear view mirror as he sees Lilly happy. That puts a half smile on his face as time zooms by and they're home! Huzzah bitches, time flies when you don't say nothin'. Once the van pulls into the garage, Megan hops out right away again as she speed walks into the house. Brad sighs as he starts to take Lilly out of the van. He leaves the bags in the van for now as he'd rather make sure his wife is okay. The house is quiet as no one else is home right now. Megan is upstairs as Brad walks up them himself. Before going into the master bedroom, he makes a quick stop in Lilly's room as he puts her in her crib and sets the bag on the floor.
He nearly sprints into the bedroom, opening the closed door. Megan is lying flat on her back as she's crying. Brad makes his way to the bed, sitting next to his wife...
What's wrong Megs?
I just want them out of me Brad. I just want to be able to sleep on my side, run around, not eat all day long and feel like a worthless pig. I know I'm gonna love 'em but dammit, I just want them out of me...
Brad leans over and kisses Megan on the forehead, gently as she keeps crying. Brad lies down next to her, on his side, looking at her. A smile creeps across his face as the tears fall down the side of her face. The ceiling tiles are almost mocking her as Brad places his hand on her stomach.
Megan Lola Kane...
What?
Despite the way you feel about yourself. The way you eat, the way you act because of the hormones, just always be rest assured that I'm never going to leave you. I wasn't going to leave you in Wal-Mart, I'd never leave you and the kids and I'd never re-marry if something ever happened to you. You're me Megan and I'm you. We're one in the same and I'm never going to leave you. I love you too much. I hate going on the road when you feel like this. I hate the fact that while I'm out there wrestling for nCw or where ever else, you're stuck here with really only your mother to look after you. Once the twins come though and all the kids grow up a bit, we can travel together. Me, you, Lilly, Belldandy and Jennifer, all five of us going from city to city. I love all of you and I'd never leave what we have babe.
The tears stop falling as the words that flowed from her husband's mouth have managed to put her at ease, at least for the moment.
Thank you...
Brad leans back up and hovers his head over his wife's. He begins to descend as their lips meet. They kiss, gently as Brad brings his head back up.
I love you.
This brings a smile on Brad's face as he goes back down as they kiss again. It's a bit longer but still just as warm as he brings his head up again.
I love you.
They smile at each other. Megan's mind is settled once again as Brad keeps his hand on her stomach, feeling the twins kick. He isn't content to let the two kisses end there as he slowly descends his head downwards again. The third kiss is just a quick peck but it quickly turns into something longer again. It's rather clear that these two are madly in love, despite hardly knowing each other for over year. This love that they share is only going to deepen as they keep moving forward...
So as I think about my life and all the things I've accomplished, something begins to come across and I don't exactly know what to make of it. When I look back at the things I've done wrestling, the things I've done to people and everything else you can think of, why would people want to care about Brad Kane. I've been thinking about this question quite a bit lately and I've never come up with a definite answer as to why people would want to, would need to care about me. If you want my honest opinion, I'd say that fathering a son, a daughter and soon to be twin daughters is so much greater then winning a World Title. I could lie to you and saying that winning something like the nCw World Title would be sweeter then seeing my wife giving birth but it's not.
That's something so many of you on the roster can't understand. I'm not meaning anything in the way of disrespect but only a select few here in nCw can know about the joy of fatherhood. Lance Ryan, Dave Holland, Xavier Cross and my brother, Spike. We're part of the select few that know or did know what it was like to have someone to wrestle for. These human beings depend on us to bring home the money that they need in order to eat, to have clothes on their backs and a roof over their head. In some cases, they might not have known about this kid but it doesn't matter. Being a father is one of the greatest things in a man's live, I don't care who says what otherwise.
Even so, most of you can't understand why I do what I do. Last month, when my wife was sick, I made the best decision I possibly could. Did I anger some in the front office? Yes. Did I anger some of the boys in the back? Yes. But I couldn't care less because when a mind is made up, nothing is going to change it. I'd like to thank the front office for allowing me to stay on here, despite the no show a few weeks ago. I realize that some of you are thinking that "Wow, Brad Kane, he sure is a primma donna, only getting to work when he wants to." Hardly the case because as I said before, you don't understand why I'm doing this the way I am.
Most of you would have to make the choice of either wrestling or spend every waking moment at home, not getting any income. The front office realized my situation and my contract was reworked. If the kids are having a bad week, I can just stay home while being on the payroll. I'll admit it's not my first choice but I can't have three infants on the road with me along with my wife. It's simply too much to handle. That's why retirement has crossed my mind so many times since June started. For the past month and a half, I've sat down and weight the benefits and the negatives on either side of it. I've talked with my wife about it and I've talked with my brother about it.
Retirement isn't an option, not yet. Despite not being in nCw all the time and despite my general attitude sometimes, I still love to wrestle. I love going out there and giving those people something to talk about. I didn't just walk into the match of the year last year by accident. I know what I'm doing, I know how to wrestle and it seems like most of you here in nCw have forgotten that. Did you suddenly forget about the months and months of terror that Age of the Revolution brought forth? That street fight against Ace and Awesome back at A Night To Remember? How about that World Title match against Lance Ryan? Did that suddenly leave your minds too?
It is any wonder why when people mention the name Brad Kane, they never think of nCw? For all the work I've tried to put into this place, for all the months of hard work I've put into this place and I've gotten next to nothing in recognition. Now to anyone else, that might seem to bother them and eat away at their insides. Myself though, it's not that big of deal because I know that what I've done here in New Championship Wrestling will always be remembered. I don't think anyone is going to forget the debut of Age of the Revolution. I don't think anyone is going to forget the dragon suplex I took at A Night To Remember. I don't think anyone is going to forget my leap from the top of the Assault X structure into the middle to rip that X Division Title belt off and win it.
When you think of those memories, when you think of what I've done in those moments, there have been a couple of people that managed to hover around. I mean, think about A Night To Remember, how ironic is it that Steve Awesome would dump me right on my head into the pile of chairs. How strange is it that, I believe, the week after I became the X Division Champion, I left Jack Manson high and dry in a tag team match, only to them become a "traitor" to the former NWS stable, something Manson and I were both a part of. So, at Last Stand, it's funny that I've been put in a match with a man that's been my rival for quite some time and a man who never got his retribution on me for what I did.
I have it coming when Manson kicks me in the face. I have no excuse for leaving him out to dry all those months ago I think it was. My memory is a little fuzzy after the concussions I've suffered in my career so please just try to follow me as best as you can. But Manson, you're almost a friend of the family so to speak. You hang around Spike and you hang around Freya. I suppose people are going to start clamoring for me to join that stable you're all in. I mean, I can understand you hanging around Spike but with my little sister? That has me a little bothered. Sure she has a little attraction to you and that's quite alright but I'm gonna go ahead and warn you, you break her heart, I'm gonna snap your neck. I don't know if Spike feels the same but this is your only warning Jack, treat Freya with respect.
Steve Awesome though, what can I honestly think about you anymore. We always seem to have these little back and forths, such as when you had the nerve to say you'd make a better special tape with your girlfriend then I did with my wife. Although I find the whole leak to be humorous, I just can't see your girlfriend going through on the whole thing. I realize this is old news a little bit but like I said at one point, true love is getting your woman so hot, so horny that she's willing to have anal sex on camera and then basically proceed to go ass to mouth on it. Jokes aside Steve, I view this match at Last Stand to refresh some of the fans of nCw just what it means when we step into that ring together.
In the back of my mind, there isn't a single reason why the three of us can't produce something to make people talk to months on end. Who knows, this could be my last match in nCw as the thought of retirement still lingers. I just want to know that I at least I made a difference in someone's life because of what I do. You see, it's all about respect. It's all I want and it's all I need. Last Stand is the first step in the road towards the respect I once had in this promotion. Freelance or not, Brad Kane is someone you're going to know again and this time, it won't be under some facade of a gimmick because this is me. I'm just Brad Kane. Love, honor and respect, the three things, the only three things I need in life. I have two, I just need the last thing on my list.
