"Can you hear that Xavier?.....that sound?, the sound of silence?..."
AJ pauses and breathes deep. He smirks and looks towards the camera, he seems to be at his own house. He looks around at the scattered children’s toys and shakes his head
"No you won’t get a small glimpse of my private life like you gave us all. See I make a conscious effort to keep that out of the public eye, whereas you seem to thrust it in our faces. Honestly Xavier, if you and your woman are having problems this bad over something as trivial as Hannah Montana and Blues clues, maybe you should give her my number, cause it sounds like she's in need of a real man, not a whining, blubbering child like you."
AJ shakes his head again and sighs, he walks out the back into his backyard and smirks, we see out into the calm night sky
"But it's ok, all this drama you're showing us is just going to hurt you in the long run, cause you can't get it out of your head, you'll go to the match and instead of thinking about me you'll be thinking about your wife on her knees with the guy from blues clues, boo fricken hoo Cross, get over it. Cause I want the best from you and right now I'm not getting that, first I got a bunch of nonsensical BS while a song was playing in the background and honestly we all heard the lyrics there bud, great filler. And now I turn around and instead of getting a controlled grouping of comments relating to me and our match this Sunday, I get you and your woman doing a "days of our lives" scene"
AJ throws his hands in the air in disbelief and tries to calm himself, he closes his bright blue eyes and breathes deep, as he opens them it appears it didn't work, his eyes have turned a steely grey, the anger is obviously there
"But when you did pull your balls out of your wife's handbag and talk to me, you completely misunderstood everything I said, You think I want you to impress me?, you think I want you to scare me?. Xavier, you will never impress me, cause I want, a true warrior, not a whiny little emo kid who got lost on his way to a my chemical romance concert, "boo hoo, my wife is probably doing my cousin who's a better dad than me waaaahhhhhh". What are you thirteen and still in high school?. Listen to me very very carefully, I'll even talk extra slow so you can understand. This Sunday, you'll be stepping in the ring with a dangerous man. And if you don't wake up, I'm going to end your career just so I don't have to listen to your incessant whining again. And while you got a free ride to the finals when your last opponent got injured like the idiot he is. Meanwhile, I faced my student and best friend Chris Mercury in a highly competitive match, then I faced Davey Ortega who although is a noted choke artist has faced superstars and legends that you can only ever wish to face. I walked into this match thinking maybe just maybe you'd take it seriously, but you haven't. Instead you call me an arrogant little punk, like that's supposed to insult me, hell I'll be the first to say I'm a total asshole, in fact it's one of my defining qualities..."
AJ puts his hands into his pockets, we see his muscles ripple under his shirt as he rolls his shoulders limbering up
"And don't flatter yourself, the mere thought that you'd be able to make me cry in pain is laughable. I've been beaten up by bigger badder guys than you who've wanted to hurt me a hell of alot more. But wait, you were like me once right?, So I guess you're going to say something about the fact I should change and be more like you or something. Yeah ok I'll go from an arrogant, confident future champion to a cry-baby, that makes alot of sense. About as much sense as you breaking your concentration while talking about me to launch into a random little tirade about Dora the freakin explorer!. But you did come up with a few points, you have just hit the scene so you really don't know much, but ignorance is no excuse for your stupidity. Just like you coming up and name checking Ric Flair and Ultimate Warrior, about how they can have goodnights and bad nights and blah blah blah. Newsflash, I had a few "bad" nights when I got here, but I'm on a three match winning streak, I have momentum flowing. You on the other hand, are a manic depressive recovering alcoholic and drug addict who has managed to get himself a string of wins with sheer luck. And that's all it is, luck. And against me, your luck will run out..."
AJ pauses for a moment and smirks in that ever so cocky way, his arrogance again overflowing
"But see, you seem to think that as a "rookie" you hold an advantage, yeah that's a good way of thinking, except I haven't been here that much longer than you. The difference between us is that while I've had some losses, I've faced real names here. So who's beaten me huh?. Hammond on a fluke, Reckless Jack and Sexy Jason who double teamed me?. Or maybe you're talking about my only other loss, to Davey Ortega, a loss that I fixed a few days ago by kicking his ass all over collision. Are those the names that hold water in your boat?. Not Joe Everyman?, Not Chris Diamond?. Wow are you priorities screwed or what?. These names are not merely names, they’re men who have accomplished more than you in NCW. And while I like you have had success in other companies I’ve recently had to concede that here, it means nothing. So you better stand up, take notice and respect who I’ve faced, who I’ve beaten and what kind of performer you’re dealing with my friend....”
AJ starts to walk along the green grass, lush and slightly damp due to the dew from the refreshing cold night. AJ stares up at the half moon, it seems so quiet, so calming, but the intensity and determination in AJ’s body language and voice offset this filling the air with a thick cloud of tension.
"But then again maybe I'm wrong, cause you yourself said you weren't going to let yourself underestimate me right?. Really?. Curious that you'd say that when your actions and words contradict it. How can you stand there and say that you're not going to underestimate me, when not two minutes before that you called me a "puddle of water" something you'll have to "wipe off your shoes", so is that not underestimating me Xavier?. What about calling me a "blip"on your radar?. You stand there and say you're not underestimating me when you CLEARLY are. I don't have a problem with you being honest and saying what you really mean, but confused, ignorant liars anger me. And that's what you are, or maybe I'm being too critical of you Xavier?. Maybe you're just confused because you have no idea what to make of me, by your own admission you don't know much about me, but due to your comical and boring little interludes with your ex-current-wife I know more than I need to know about you. I see a guy who was once in love with this business, but now, he just uses this for money. It's greed pure and simple Cross, but with me it's something deeper. Being the X-Division champion is my destiny, my right, my future, and it's a future that will become a reality. You can do this for money Cross I don't care, but I'll be damned if I let one of the most prestigious titles in the NCW fall into the hands of a money hungry self righteous jerk. How proud your family must be of you......"
"Think about it, your family watching as you come out to face a slightly younger opponent. A man who is doing this for pride, for status, for destiny, not money. You want money Xavier then maybe you should have taken some of that "natural" athleticism you have and you should have continued playing basketball. Your family would have been so proud of you. But instead you wrestle, I feel sorry for your family, cause they'll have to sit back and watch as their husband, father, cousin, brother gets humiliated in the middle of the ring in front of thousands upon thousands of people. How will you explain to little Landon and Isabella that their father got beaten after all his talk and all his boasting?. You even asked me how I can beat a man with the mindset of nothing to lose?. Well you do have something to lose Xavier. You have your pride. And I will take that along with the number one contendership away from you. Because the truth is you don't want it bad enough. You may believe you do, but all you want is the money...."
AJ scoffs in disgust and sits down on the back steps of his home
"You can come try and destroy me, you can push me to my limits, but in the end you'll be the one laying on the mat staring at those bright lights wondering where it all went wrong. You'll be the one asking yourself "why". And the answer will be simple enough for you to even figure out Cross, it'll be because you stepped in the ring with greatness and you did it unprepared. But don't feel bad, it's hard to prepare for me. Just ask Ortega. But in the end Xavier, this is about a man who wants to be champion, and a man who wants money. This is about a no good bum trying to cling to credibility that he's lost and a man who is rising back to his rightful place as a face of this company, of this business, and a pillar in the hall of greatness. I'll test you Cross, I'll test you like no one has ever tested you and in the end I'll have my hand held high......"
A smile comes across AJ's face as he gets to his feet and walks inside, the door closing behind him
AJ pauses and breathes deep. He smirks and looks towards the camera, he seems to be at his own house. He looks around at the scattered children’s toys and shakes his head
