August 17th
Shortly after Collision is off the air.
(Fade in on the Social Enemies locker room. Falcon sits at one end of the room, slowly stowing away all of his gear in a duffle bag. Talon sits across the room, having already packed up, just staring at the space between them. He wants to say something. He feels he needs to say something, but right now the words just don't come out. He looks down at the floor a moment, lost in thought, then back at Falcon. This time he opens his mouth to say something, but pauses and looks away again, forgetting what he had planned to say. He takes a long look at his friend, then just says simply.)
Talon: I'm sorry.
Falcon: Don't. It doesn't matter who was pinned or anything else that happened. We lost that match, together as a team, and you know that.
Talon: I lost my damn focus. I knew that they would be quite willing to pull stunts like they did and I didn't do anything about it. I walked into a minefield and just waltzed in like I was Fred Astaire. The blame is on me.
Falcon: Cut the ****!
(Talon blinks at the angry outburst. He stares at his friend, unblinking. Falcon hasn't even turned his head or stopped the motion of his hands, almost as if he never actually spoke, much less swore.)
Falcon: You're doing what everyone else does. Instead of working to try to correct your mistakes, you're wallowing in it and using an apology as some sort of guilt release. We lost Jack, it happens. You can know something is going to happen, and sometimes when you're in that moment, you can't prevent it. We gave them the chance to take the titles from us, they opted against it. If they want another chance, for real this time, fine, we'll settle it after Battle Grounds. Don't worry about either of their gloating. Ace was going to do it anyway, and Awesome has tunnel vision for Trent Helms. But none of that is important.
Talon: You're right, Kyle. I guess like I just felt I let you down or something. I suppose I should have known better.
(Falcon sighs, as if the weight of something he should say has suddenly settled on his shoulders and had taken up residence. He turns his head to face Talon)
Falcon: I suppose there is no real easy way to say this. But, maybe when this whole war is over, and we're no longer in need to band together, you and I should forfeit the titles if we have them and go our seperate ways.
(Talon looks at him puzzled, as if wondering what the hell brought this on. Then his face falls into a look of the forelorn.)
Talon: You're tired of carrying me aren't you?
Falcon: You don't believe that even as you said it. You know I don't carry you anywhere, and I'll have you say no more on the subject. But you know the simple fact..
I hold you back..
And you hold me down..
(Fade out. The following, a text script post of something posted on www.socialenemies.com. It's not a blog persay, just something posted for not only the fans, but a select group of individuals in the main event at nCws Battle Grounds to read.)
There are six points that I believe are the fundamental stratagems for any known confrontation. Six pieces of knowledge you must carry with you in the forefront of your mind like a battle standard. I cannot guarantee instant or easy success with just these pieces of information. But armed with them, you stand more than a fair chance. Provided you have more talent than a warm bucket of spit. The first two are probably the easiest to master, as they can be learned by just having some free time, and both go hand in hand with one another.
1: Know your opponents Strengths.
2: Know your opponents Weaknesses.
That's it. Simple really. Watch enough tape, ask a couple questions, take a look around and that should give you a good basis for where to start your research. Granted it won't be making grilled cheese easy, but it's easy enough for the simple start of the process. Some people are harder to see through than others, some play their cards closer to the vest, and some just seem to be total enigmas when you look into it. But, even the most secretive can be broken down. Thus, giving you the mental edge. If you don't possess a physical edge, then this is about all you're going to get.
Since I make a habit of practicing what I preach, I've done a little research of my own. Not into their closets on a skeleton hunt or anything, just into their skills and their personalities. I started first with those mooks from Social Distortion.
Jack Mansons main strength is his cunning intellect. When he's on his game, he acts like he has eyes all over him. He misses little, and because of that, little will escape his notice. If he sees some slip or chink in your armor, he'll attack. Swiftly, and without mercy or remorse. In this state, he's capable of far more than people give him credit for. But, his time off has dimmed his bright senses and he seems to be regaining them far slower than he should be. Perhaps he felt he was ready and then realized he wasn't, I'm not real sure. But what I do know, he's not someone you can overlook. Especially when he has that glint in his eye, the one that lets you know he's found your soft spot, and he's not going to stop exploiting it until you stop struggling.
Coincidentally, Jack Mansons weakness is the narrowness of his vision. Once he focuses on something, all else becomes forfeit. And what made him so strong, eventually leads him into his state of vulnerability. By laying out a trap with his strength, he unwittingly walks into it himself when he feels you have done the same. I don't even think he realizes that on his own just yet, but maybe he'll do what most fail to do and at least listen to me. I may not be right, but I usually am, and who knows.. sometimes someone else sees something in you that you don't even know is there until someone points it out to your face.
At his side, is Xavier Williams. Xaviers strength is his unflinching drive. He may not always use the most honorable of paths to get where he wants to be. But if the ends justify the means, then who am I to argue with that? Xavier, I don't want to sound racist or anything, but Xavier could very well have just let himself become enveloped by the stereotypes that perpetuate against people like him. He could easily come out here, speaking slang and referencing drugs and "gangster" things, and nobody would question it. But he has put in endless work to break free from that, staying true to the straight edge lifestyle. But that in itself, may lead to his end.
Because, dear friends, Xavier Williams weakness is his own self doubt. He watches people around him use dubious means to get to their ends, and he feels left out. Finally, betraying everything he used to stand for to do "whatever it takes". He'd tell you that he's justified, but we all know that he really doesn't believe what he used to stand for. Back when he ran for Reckless Jack, he had a purpose, a belief in something greater than his own success. Apathy ruined that idea, and now, his new idea is flawed. And he knows it. But he's in too deep. But it's not too late Xavier, you can still save a little bit of pride and show us all what you're really made of.
Well, here's hoping...

The Parking Lot, after Collision is off the air.
(Falcon, after his conversation with Talon, exits into the parking lot. Angel is sitting on the hood of Falcons Mustang, (The one Kole doesn't like) apparently waiting for him.)
Angel: The immortal one returns..
Falcon: I like to show up now and again.
Angel: You ready for Battle Grounds?
Falcon: About as ready as I'll ever be, why?
Angel: You know we need to win this.
Falcon: Of course. All I have to do is go out there and not lose until you win.
(They share a laugh. Angel slides off the car.)
Falcon: Awww.. that damn wallet chain is going to scratch my paint.
Angel: Poor wittle baby. Why don't you buy a new car? It's not like you don't make enough money. You're not blowing it on hookers or anything?
Falcon: Oh, damn, you caught me. I'd better tell those seven girls waiting at the hotel that I won't need their services for tonight.
Angel: Sure, sure.
(Angel starts walking away as Falcon unlocks his car. Angel stops, turns and speaks.)
Angel: Kyle, you know that I trust you. But I cannot stress how important next week is. We win this, and we've put another nail in the coffins of Lethal Intent, the Corporate Empire, and Social Distortion. And then the end begins..
Falcon: Angel, I know what you're trying to do. And trust me, you're going to get the best out of me that anyone can ask for. With or without the veiled threats.
(Angels lips form a small smile, not the typical reaction of someone who was just called out for not saying what they mean.)
Angel: As long as we're on the same page, that'll do.
Falcon: We're always going to be on the same page, whether we want to be or not.
(Fade out. Back to the post on http://www.socialenemies.com.)
That brings me to Lethal Intent, and one AJ Phoenix, the X Division Champion. AJs strength is his determination. Alot of weaker men would have come back from the hiatus, realized where he was at wasn't where he wanted to be, and hung up the boots for good and opened up a wrestling school or something. But not AJ. He rose, like a phoenix (ah the wit), and worked his way back to where he was. Through sheer perserverance. Regardless of how you feel about the X division, who should be champion and whatnot, AJ Phoenix is a man who knows both defeat and victory, and has lived to write the chapter. Something tells me, he's nowhere near done yet.
AJs weakness, is oddly enough, the very same. Sometimes, he's simply too determined. One week, he dominates, the next he looks lost. He overextends himself, and because of this, he starts to flag, and when he needs another energy burst, the tank is more than dry. It's never really easy to tell when you can let up off the gas, in fact I've never mastered the art myself, but I'm getting there. He can, and probably will too someday. But pace is possibly the hardest skill to understand that you lack, and because of that, it becomes twenty times as hard to get under control. But I'm cheering you on silently AJ.
As for the Hammer, his strength is quite obvious. Well, to the trained eye at least. His strength is, oddly enough, his strength. It's nearly limitless. He's not like other big men that wrestle for ten minutes and all of a sudden lose the ability to move. A Jackhammer Earth Shatter hurts just as much at the twenty minute mark as it would from the two minute mark. Believe me, I know. I threw myself at him, again and again, and he took it all and kept coming. I explained last week about the roll ups and diminishing of energy, but for Jackhammer, it took all but the kitchen sink before I finally put him down for three. That's why I picked that match to give the National title shot to. The Hammer or the Hamster, I really couldn't have gone wrong.
What is Hammers downfall? His aggression. In the heat of battle, he tries to hard to cripple his opponent. Most of the time, you'll be successful. But when you have the small guys, guys like myself, they train to momentum counter. I couldn't overpower Jackhammer if I tried, but a hiptoss suddenly takes all of his strength and turns it against him. Suddenly he finds himself locked in a cycle of anger and hate, and all he can think of is hurting his opponent worse. And then, it just slips further downstream until it cannot be recovered. That is how I defeated him the first time, and I can only hope in the time he's had since then, that he's learned his lesson and will take a different approach. But somehow..
I don't think so..
August 17th
Hotel Lobby, after Collision is off the air.
(Falcon enters the hotel that all of the Enemies are staying at. A bellhop offers to take his bag up to his room, so the man can relax. Falcon agrees and releases his hand to the boy, tipping him a twenty for his service. He ambles over to the hotel bar, seeing Joe Everyman sitting there by himself. Falcon walks over, taking a seat on the stool next to him. The bartender, having served the four men all week, wordlessly places a glass of whiskey in front of him, then makes himself scarce. Everyman doesn't even look up.)
Everyman: Falcon.
Falcon: Joe. You look like you've been through hell.
Everyman: I've been thinking about what you said. While I haven't really come up with an answer yet, I just want you to know that I've made my own sacrifices too.
Falcon: That's not what I meant when I said it. Everybody sacrifices Joe, I don't believe you to be special enough to avoid that, but you know as well as I do that we've had to put up some of stuff that you managed to escape. It's not fair to ask you to compriomise your principles unless you believe in the cause.
Everyman: Is the cause just? Can we stand at the end of the day with our heads held high and tell the world that we were right all along?
Falcon: That's something you have to decide for yourself. I already know what I can do. But I can't help you make that decision. Take as long as you need to think about it. We'll be waiting. And no matter what you decide, it's been one hell of a ride Mr. Everyman.
Everyman: It's not over yet. Not by a longshot.
Falcon: That I don't doubt. Think of it like Mice and Men. George says that a big guy can't win a fight with a smaller guy. If the smaller dude picks the fight and wins, he looks tough, and the big guy looks like a weakling. If the smaller dude picks the fight and loses, the big guy just looks like a bully. So honestly, if we can't win either way, might as well make our point across. You know?
Everyman: No, not really.
Falcon: Just think about that for a while.
(Falcon drains the glass, places a twenty down on the bar, and exits, leaving Joe Everyman along again with his thoughts and his decision.)
(Fade out. Back to the post on www.socialenemies.com. What? You thought he would leave the Corporate Empire out?)
Well, two down. That leaves none other than the Corporate Empire. The supposed free rulers of nCw. I guess someone forgot to tell Kole that as long as our checks come from the office of Leonard Fox, we don't have to listen to him. But that's Koles strength, and he knows it. He's shrewd. And uses that to it's full advantage. He buys people to do his dirty work, and by doing so, doesn't get his own hands dirty. Think about it, Kole was undefeated. But how many matches had he actually had? I guarantee not as many as half the roster. Though I give him a little credit, staying undefeated for any length of time isn't easy, but it's not as grandoise as he likes to think it is.
His weakness is his greed. In an effort to gain too much, he'll overstep his bounds and overstay his welcome, and then he'll be forced to realize that his entire empire was built on a house of cards. He has Ace and Awesome on the payroll now. But I'll bet dollars to doughnuts he's not even aware of what's going on within his own camp. And then one day, it will all fall apart. Then he'll be forced to become just another grunt soldier like the rest of us. Personally, I'll be loving every minute of it.
As for the Ace, I had to take a long minute to look for a strength in him. But I finally settled on his in-ring experience. All around, the Ace is just average. It's his savvy in the ring that makes him dangerous. He flashes on his past, and then suddenly thinks he knows the answer. And every once in a great while, he's successful. Then he runs into someone like me or Angel, and his experience fails and well, you've seen the results. But that's not the point. The Ace has been around the block enough to know when to take a "less than honorable" advantage. It's never fair, but it works for him.
But with experience, comes the flushing pride of success. Ace thinks that because he's won this or that, he's immediately entitled to respect and admiration, without giving any in return. We're all just performers, and when you disrespect someone else for no real reason, you find yourself on the short end of the stick more than a couple times. Ace underestimated me, and he got beat. Then he underestimated Angel, and same result. He didn't make that same mistake against us last week. Or if he did, it didn't hurt him as much. Or maybe the Awesome one had a hand in this. Who knows? All I know, is that pride goeth before the fall Ace. Maybe it's time for a little bible study? Amen.
Even as I compose this, I've noticed that couple promo tapes are sitting on my desk. I'll watch them eventually. But to be honest, I really don't care what most of you have to say. I know that all the people at home were expecting me to come out here and cut all of your respective promos for you. Since I seem to be quite adept at telling you what you're going to say before you say it, then laugh as you say it anyway. Some people never learn.
(To be continued.)
You cornered me to say
Oh how can you live that way?
You think I'm wrong with my pride
Well let me tell you I am justified
Look to my birth
And you'll see where I tried
Look to my pride
To see the prize
Look through my past
And you'll see all the lies I've lied
And why I'm Justified
Justified
Justified
And why I'm Justified
The Light passes me by
I try to wash myself clean
My soul has since then died
Well let me tell you I am doing fine
Look to my birth
And you'll see where I tried
Look to my pride
To see the prize
Look through my past
And you'll see all the lies I've lied
And why I'm Justified
Justified
Justified
And why I'm Justified
Look in my eyes
Look in my eyes
Look to my birth
And you'll see where I tried
Look to my pride
To see the prize
Look through my past
And you'll see all the lies I've lied
And why I'm Justified
Look in my eyes

And you'll see where I tried
Look to my pride
To see the prize
Look through my past
And you'll see all the lies I've lied
And why I'm Justified
Look in my eyes
You'll see my life of crime
Look in my past
And you'll see
All the lies
All the lies
All the lies
Are Justified[/b][/i]

Look in my past
Look to my birth
And you'll see where I tried
Look to my pride
To see the prize
Look through my past
And you'll see all the lies I've lied
And why I'm Justified
Look to my birth
And you'll see where I tried
Look to my pride
To see the prize
Look through my past
And you'll see all the lies I've lied
And why I'm Justified
Look in my eyes
You'll see my life of crime
Look in my past
And you'll see
All the lies
All the lies
All the lies
Are Justified[/b][/i]
