"I don't know, maybe I'm doing it again where I try to read between the lines and see things that aren't even there and I've got him read completely wrong for the delusional, egotistical prat he is who can't seem to stop talking about how I 'got lucky' and blaming 'distraction' on his loss last week when he was paired up with the nCw World Champ and facing a newbie who talks to cars and some short bloke who likes the shiney thing around his waist."-Jack Hammond
The TV turns off, in the reflection from the screen we see AJ Phoenix sitting on a plush leather couch. He sits silently for a moment, then lashes out throwing the television remote across the room, we hear glass smash as AJ looks away, he cups his hands together and shakes his head trying to calm down, but the anger runs through his veins, the blood moving like a white water rapid through his body, he stands up and lets out a primitive grunt kicking the coffee table out of the way, he turns and makes his way into another room, it seems to be his home office, he stops and looks around, we see Magazine covers that his image has graced, various action figures from different company’s representing different stages of his career, video game covers with his picture on them with various big names from other company’s including nCw collision “09”. AJ grins and turns to the camera
“You arrogant little pissant. You go on TV and dare to wish ME luck?. Don’t you get it Hammond, I’M the champ, not you, you’re the underdog going into this match, I don’t need luck, All I have to do is turn up. You, you have to BEAT me, if the match ends by disqualification or count out or time limit, you get nothing, so it seems that you’re the one who needs “luck”, something you have had for some small spurts of your career. But wait, hold up, I seem to be tearing apart your arrogant little speech from the wrong end, I started at the back end, instead of going from the start.....”
“You talked of making plans, and of how you prepared yourself for every possible outcome and you still failed, shouldn’t that tell you something?, maybe something like I dunno, MAKING PLANS DON’T WORK?. But see I can’t really comment that much, cause making plans is something that doesn’t work for me, but maybe they work for yo-, oh wait, they don’t, which is what you said right?, well maybe, just maybe it’s not your thought process, maybe it’s not you making plans, maybe it’s your fantastic inability to carry them out?. Think about it, Napoleon, one of the greatest generals of our time...a short man like you....he at first had great battle plans, when facing men who were beneath him in combative skill and planning, but then when he had the brass ring in his sight, European domination what happened?, his inability to successfully follow a MAJOR plan backfired and he tried marching across central Russia to Moscow...during winter...."
AJ pauses for a moment and sighs, he loves some hair from his face, his demeanour seeming calm, as if he’s talking himself back into the battle of the minds with Mr Hammond
“Just incase you missed what I was getting across, it’s simple, against smaller opponents your careful planning works, hence your bursts of victories, but then something happens when you start to gather momentum, you end up facing someone who is a step above you, you fail.....”
AJ folds his arms across his chest as his arrogance returns
“....You admit to your flaws, it’s admirable, but their flaws that someone of your limited character, and ability can’t overcome, You can talk about how you’ve changed but in the end you’re still beneath me. You said it yourself, in mere months I’ve captured the X-Division title, meanwhile you’ve been here longer than me, yet you have failed to reach the level I have,...”
AJ looks down and smiles picking up the X-Division title, he draped it over his shoulder showing it off as his own
“But now here you are, your big chance to claim a title and a place in the history books. The only problem is you have no idea how to go about it. Do you think about it or do you play it by ear?, it seems you’ve made your choice but I sense a kind of unsureness in your voice, and that shows me that everything I have thought and said about you is true. You’re a pathetic wannabe who has been able to use his unbelievable luck to gather two victories over me, nothing more, nothing less...”
AJ pauses for a moment and smirks
“...well, maybe you are something more, an arrogant pain in my ass. One who says that he’s not here to “throw names” in my face or” talk about the past”, really?, then why did you bring up my former employer?, something I stopped talking about months ago?. But then again, in mentioning my past you also brought into light just how great I am, for that I thank you, but see you call me egotistical, I call myself a realist. See everything I say is just proven fact, like FACT, you have never lived up to your potential and probably never will, FACT, both your “wins” against me can be explained as luck, and FACT, I’m simply better than you....”
AJ moves the title from his shoulder and stares at it, the gold color shines onto his face from the reflection
“There’s another reason why I don’t wish for you to become X-Division champion, see people lift their game when they face me, for some reason I inspire them to be their best, to release their potential, I have no idea what it is, it’s both a gift and a curse, but you say you want to be something more, you want to be better, you don’t want to lose focus anymore.....”
AJ pauses and looks back at the camera, he puts the belt up near the camera and his face
“But what happens when you do to defend this belt Jack?, what happens when I’m no longer there to inspire you to put on a performance that’s well above your weight?, you’ll drop the title to someone even less deserving, I saved this belt from Xavier Williams and his cheating disrespectful ways, and I refuse to let it fall in the hands of someone unworthy, and that’s what you are Hammond, you’re not worthy to hold the X-Division title belt....”
AJ sets the belt down on the table
“This Sunday, I plan on silencing all my critics, you see this match isn’t just about the title, or just about you trying to prove something, it’s about me standing up to all those who believe that I’m not a true champion, there’s so many people waiting for me to fail so they can say “I told you so”, so they can throw it in my face like I’m some kind of failure, how dare they, I’m not some wannabe curtain jerker, I’m not some “trauma” wrestler, I’m a star, a bright shining star, and all these pieces of trash dare to put me down like a common whore.....”
“You know Jack, much has been made of my growing hatred for the parasites we call “fans”, but truth is there is a reason to my madness, these people, these insects, they want to watch us bleed Jack, don’t you get it?, they made me the man I am today, it’s their fault what’s going to happen to you, they want blood, they want pain, they’re going to get it, they’re going to watch another one of their “heroes” get taken down and destroyed, they’re going to be forced to watch as “the hamster” Jack Hammond gets humiliated.....”
AJ smirks and rolls his shoulders limbering up a little
“I will forge my legacy in your blood, you’ll be the first in the long list of men who will attempt to take the NCW X-Division title from me and fail miserably. At Road To The Gold, you’ll suffer a car accident, as usual you’ll come out speeding and in the end your inability to plan ahead and carry it out will lead you to disaster.....in the end Jack...you’ll be just another name on my list.....”
AJ laughs to himself and turns as the scene fades
