"The love of money is the root of all evil.."
(With that statement we open inside of Angels house in Connecticut. Angel is sitting on his couch, looking suave in a new Savior X t-shirt and jeans. Falcon sits across from him on an armchair, in the same t-shirt and black jeans, staring into the space in front of him. He has his phone to his ear, but we can't be sure he's even having a conversation. Angels daughter is sitting on the floor, watching Dora the Explorer. Falcon finally sighs, then snaps the phone closed. Angel tilts his head to the side and looks at him quizically.)
Angel: No answer huh?
(Falcon simply shakes his head. Angel shrugs.)
Angel: Not much we can do.
Falcon: He'll either come around, or he won't. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Angel: I wish he would at least frickin call back. The man could show some kind of common decencey.
Falcon: Well, you said it. There isn't much we can do except wait it out. It's going to happen one way or another. What's bothering me more is this revolution crap.
Angel: I know what you mean. When it first appeared, I thought it was just another skip to my lou drama piece from Reckless Jack. But now I doubt it. I just wish they would hurry the hell up.
Falcon: It is kind of pointless to tell people not to ignore signs you haven't left yet. I mean, hell even if they left some kind of sign it wasn't important enough to notice. The point being is to do something, then tell everyone not to ignore it. Other than that, you're just wasting everyones time.
Angel: Maybe we are.
Falcon: Wasting time?
Angel: Yeah. I mean, look at it. We've been fighting a war that never has to end. Since we can't outright kill the members of the Corporate Empire, there's really no way we can finish them for good. No matter how many times they get beat, "we're lucky". No matter what we actually do, they'll just say they're "better than us" and it won't stop. Sometimes I wonder, if we're just wasting our time.
Falcon: Until we come up with an idea about how to end it with all finality, we really don't have a choice except to keep fighting, do we? The stable disbands, and they think they've won. And everything just gets worse. It's a cycle, but it's one we have to live with.
Angel: I suppose you're right.
Falcon: I usually am.
(We fade out on that, and back into that same overlook in Boston where Falcon goes to think. It must be only a short time later as he hasn't bothered to change. He takes a sip of the soda bottle in his hand.)
Falcon: Last time Jack and I were in a tag match, we faced the Smokin Aces. Sure, it was non title, and we ended up losing. Jack blamed himself, as most people would have expected him to, being as he was the one who was pinned. But I'm not buying it. Tag matches can rarely be lost by only one party. The L on that night was as much my fault as it was his. But, after the show had finished taping. He apoligized to me for losing. Here he was, my brother in arms, admitting to me that he believes he failed me. I told him the same thing I'm going to tell him now.
It happens.
Just like what happened this past Collision. We faced each other in a six man tag. Us, the skyslayers, the damn tag champions forced to compete against one another. I'm aware of how much ratings affect shows, and how much crowd impact has on the roster, but I like practically everyone else, smelled a rat. Spike has ears too you know. He saw what had been going down between us and thought that he should push it a little farther. Of course, he couldn't guarantee that I would pin Talon. He must have practically nutted his undies when he saw that. But has it had the same impact on us that he is hoping for? Maybe, maybe not. Only time can tell him that one. But I just want to say one thing to Jack. Something I much so told him not to say to me then.
I'm sorry.
(Falcon pauses to take another sip of the dew in his hand. He replaces the cap, staring thoughtfully at it, then continues.)
Falcon: You know Lance, I don't want to speak ill of you by saying you're blind or stupid, because I don't believe you to be either. But I think you're missing something about Adam. You and Adam do not have the same goal, at least from the way I see it. Adam is on some crusade to purge nCw of it's filth. Since he's apparently targeted Talon, and probably myself as well, I really think you should consider the possibility that he might not act like the regular ho hum gonna win a match tonight, Adam. If he sees a chance to take Talon out, he's more than likely going to take it. Whether it's within confines of the rules or not. He's not after our titles Lance, only you are. If he was then he probably wouldn't be after you like he has been. All that being said, you do have one thing in common, and that seems to be rage. And the whole great wrestlers slash legends thing but that was all covered last week. The point is that rage blinds,
And anger betrays.
I hope you'll realize that you can't count on Adam, at least not in a way you'd like. Because he is angry, possibly even angrier than you are. And he's not going to pull any punches to achieve his goal, whether you think it's the same as yours or not. To be honest with you Lance, I would love nothing more for this to be a straight forward tag match with the gold at stake. At least then I probably wouldn't have to worry about someone trying to crack my skull open or rip my leg off. I'd be just peachy with you guys as the best of friends, because despite knowing what I know and seeing what I see, I also am a professional. So my job is to win this match and retain these titles. A job I fully intend to accomplish. It's not guaranteed, but that's about all I can give you. So, Lance, unleash the monster, let that hatred out, come at me with the fully fury and force of the legend Lance Ryan. Because even if it all but destroys me,
I won't have it any other way.
(Falcon pauses again, taking another sip. Then he fumbles around his pockets for his cigarette pack, holding one of the death tubes in his hand, but not lighting it yet.)
Falcon: As far as Adam goes, I don't really know if there's any more than I can say that I haven't already said. I mean, honestly, what do I do that's so wrong? I don't order Talon around like a dog. He walks at my side because we're friends. Hell, we are the tag champions simply because of that reason. Have you ever seen me say, "No, Talon, I don't want you to go out there and win that match because it would make you look better than me."? No, you haven't, because I've never said it. Angel, Talon and I would have loved to let the Enemies rest. We would have loved to have had our individual successes turn into friendly rivalries. We would have loved to watch each other perform at the best and consitantly try to out do one another. Because that's who we are. For enlightened as you claim to be Adam,
Why can't you see that?
I hope Talon is a better wrestler than me. I hope that when I hang it up he becomes a thirty time nCw World Champion. He works hard enough for it. Do I have to retire Adam? Is that what you want? Is that what will make Talon free? There's a lot of wrestlers on this roster Adam and only five titles. That means at any given time there can be only six total champions. Right now Talon is one of those names and yet I'm still somehow holding him back? It's not like I'm taking chances out of his hands, because I haven't had that many. You want someone to blame for Talons misfortune? You want someone you can point at and say why Talon isn't where you think he's supposed to be?
His name was Tyler Jacobs.
Other than that, I don't have anything for you.
(Falcon lights his cigarette, taking a deep drag before finishing.)
Falcon: I'm running out of things to try and convince you guys. We're not going to change until the people who tried to change us are gone. The Corporate Empire needs to be stopped. Soon. We've already made the decree. You're either with us, or against us. So bring me the monster Lance, bring me the savior Adam. By the end of the night, you will know,
You can't kill the unkillable
(Fade)
I see your dirty face
High behind your collar
What is done in vain
Truth is hard to swallow
So you pray to God
To justify the way you live a lie, live a lie, live a lie
And you take your time
And you do your crime
Well you made your bed
I'm in mine
Because when I arrive
I bring the fire
Make you come alive
I can take you higher
What is this, forgot?
I must now remind you
Let It Rock
Let It Rock
Let It Rock
Now the son's disgraced
He, who knew his father
When he cursed his name
Turned, and chased the dollar
But it broke his heart
So he stuck his middle finger
To the world
To the world
To the world
And you take your time
And you stand in line
Well you'll get what's yours
I got mine
Because when I arrive
I bring the fire
Make you come alive
I can take you higher
What is this, forgot?
I must now remind you
Just Let It Rock
Let It Rock
Let It Rock
Let It Rock
Let It Rock
I wish I could be
As cool as you
And I wish I could say
The things you do
But I can't and I won't live a lie
No not this time
