~*~*~Smoke and Mirrors. We have all heard the saying, but where exactly does it come from? What exactly does it mean? Smoke and mirrors is used to mean trickery or deception. Often it is used in a political context. The expression alludes to the performances of stage performers that actually use smoke and mirrors in order to deceive their audience. Over time the meaning changed a little though and today’s definition tends to pertain more to the embellishment of the truth that is employed by many to deceive the general public. The later usage first appeared in 1975 when Jimmy Breslin wrote Notes from Impeachment Summer. Jimmy was referring to the use of smoke and mirrors by the US government. So smoke and mirrors is what I am being accused of. Falcon and Talon think that they have every little piece of information figured out. They alluded to the fact that all along Adam Knite has been my partner of choice. They alluded to the fact that Adam and I must simply be on the same team since we share a similar goal. Well, what more can I say than if the Skyslayers said it, it must be true.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: Foolish.
~*~*~You see the idea of smoke and mirrors is that you use them in order to confuse your opponents, confuse your fans, and moreover confuse the entire general public. Adam and I are two members of the nCw roster that are known not only for our ability to kick people’s heads in, but also we are known for being masters of the mind games. If we, if either of us, were out to send up some smoke, and confuse you with mirrors, do you really think that we would do it in a way that would make things so discernable to you? Do you actually think that we would portray our mind games at such a level that even peons like you two could figure us out? Give us some credit. Seriously.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: Arrogant.
~*~*~I have been in this business for well over ten years now, just in case you may have missed that in what seems to be your elaborate scheme to figure me out. For all of those years I have been able to get into an opponents head if I wanted to. I have been able to make the fans cheer me or boo me, depending on what I wanted, I have basically been able to make people do what I wanted, when I wanted and for the sole reason, because I wanted them to. You two seem to think awfully highly of yourselves for two men that are for all intents and purposes fairly new to the nCw landscape. The two of you seem awfully arrogant, throwing around things like ideas that I may be drinking up at the bar this week to prepare for our match.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: Give me some credit.
~*~*~Seldom do I drink. Or perhaps you missed that little tidbit of information while you were scouting me as well. Very rarely do I go out and drink A beer much less enough beer to get myself drunk. For you to say something like that is insulting to who I am, insulting to my family, and insulting to the man that I have been for the past ten years of my life. You need to understand something. I am not some young punk wrestler here in nCw that has no idea what he is doing heading into the big dance. I have been around the block a few times in my wrestling career, hell, one of the streets is named after me. I am not some unworthy opponent that you can look over, or that you can bypass because I am too stupid to realize how important the tag team titles are to the nCw landscape. Falcon. Talon. I am going to forewarn you of something, something that I am seriously hoping you have not overlooked. That being my resume. I won’t even bother to fill your pointed little heads with the years of accolades that I have in this business, let’s just look at this company. I am a two time world champion. The only two time world champion in this company’s history. I am an nCw hall of famer. The first hall of famer in this company’s history. I am looked up to by allies and enemies alike, many here even call me the measuring stick of nCw. You aren’t somebody until you have beaten Lance Ryan, and you DAMN sure are not somebody until you have been in the ring with me.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: Are you ready?
~*~*~You two have had a small corner of the spotlight here in recent weeks. Being allowed to be within my presence is something that many wrestlers here would die for. You have not only been allowed within my presence, you have been allowed within that ring at the same time as me. I will give credit, that must be a sign that you are doing something right somewhere along the dead end road that you travel. Social Enemies, it’s a cute little stable with a cute little name. But do you realize that again I paved the road for you? Without No Warning Shot, without The Empire, without any of that, there would be no Social Enemies. There is little doubt that your band of brothers has accomplished much here in this company, but there is one accomplishment that you will not be bearing any longer after the sun rises upon Monday morning.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: I am coming for your gold.
~*~*~This Sunday. What is the name of this pay per view? Oh, that’s right. The name couldn’t allude me for more than a split second, after all…it’s yet another thing that I put on the map. Road to the Gold. Perhaps you should look back at the footage of the main event from the first Road to Gold. Take a look at who wins the very first epic match in this company’s history. That’s me. Lance Ryan, the first champion, takes the gold at Road to the Gold. This year will not be a lot different. There are only two differences. The first being that I will not be fighting to be the first champion in a division, the second being that I will not be fighting for a singles title. This year is about the second go around for Road to the Gold.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: I left Road to the Gold I with one title. I will leave Road to the Gold II with two titles. It’s that simple.
~*~*~Now, realize something. You are very off on my tag team partner Adam Knite. The facts are exactly as I have laid them out. I am not happy to have to team with this man. He is not the man that I would have chosen as my tag team partner, and the reality is that I am indeed concerned with the fact that I must rely on him. But you are concerning yourselves with something that is not of consequence. All you two can come back to is the wonderment, the idea, the possibility of who would have been, and what could have been. The reality is simple once again, it doesn’t matter who I had lined up to be my tag team partner. It doesn’t matter who might have been standing in my corner. None of that matters anymore, all that matters is four names. Lance Ryan, Adam Knite, Falcon, Talon. Those four names are on the verge of an epic clash that will leave people wanting more. Those four names will collide and I am not entirely sure that the four sides of an nCw ring will contain this explosion of hatred, of greed and of talent.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: Talent.
~*~*~This is as close as the two of you will get to a compliment from me. The fact is that I don’t really respect you, I don’t really agree with what Social Enemies is nor what it stands for, but talent is something that you do in fact have. Some anyways. This all leads to the two questions that I do not have answers for. The questions do not pertain to who I would have chosen as a partner. The questions do not pertain to whether I will win the tag team gold that the two of you hold so near and dear and degrade with every passing second, the question does not even pertain to whether I am prepared to team with Adam Knite. The questions that remain in my mind are much simpler than that. The questions are clear.[/i]
Lance Ryan: Is Adam ready to man up and be my partner? Can Adam Knite set aside the need to destroy the Skyslayers and settle simply for destroying their tag team championship reign?
~*~*~Adam, I don’t know why I dare even contemplate saying these words. I feel your intent. I understand your mission. The sad reality is that we truly are not all that different, you and I. I do however think that you put too much emphasis on the physical destruction of people, and far too little emphasis on the enjoyment of causing people to self destruct mentally. Reality check time is here for you Adam. You are intent to prove that Falcon and Talon are not as they seem. You are intent to prove that their friendship is indeed smoke and mirrors. You are intent to beat the living hell out of one or both of them for the sole purpose of proving yourself right. I think you have it wrong. What I see in this match is the perfect opportunity for you to do what you have been talking about. The perfect opportunity for you to prove that you are correct. You have the chance to take away the glue that truly holds this tandem together. You have the chance to show the world that your higher power is indeed correct and that you are not crazy. Take away the gold, and you will watch the walls crumble. This team is only going to last as long as they have the gold around their waists. This team is only going to hold if they have that bond. Take it away with me and watch. Watch as it crumbles Adam. It is far more enjoyable for a man to watch another man destroy himself than it is to watch as you destroy the man physically.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: War.
~*~*~Ladies and Gentlemen, the winners of the match and new nCw champions, removing the gold from the social enemies, the tag team of Lance Ryan and Adam Knite! It doesn’t sound half bad does it? Kind of has a ring to it. Lance Ryan and Adam Knite. Power. Respect. Honor. We could make the tag team titles mean something again, all the while removing from this team of “friends” their glue. Glue holds things together Adam. Let’s tear it all apart. Think it over. The time is near.~*~*~[/i]
