~{/SETTING\}~
The card has been set for Mind Games, and this week, Jimmy Zane faces Ricky Johnson, Nelly Angel, and Brad Kane in an XDivision match. He is a bit perturbed at the lack of respect given to him by the rest of nCw as well as nCw management. He is beginning to think that his father's reputation as a bit of a backstage bully is beginning to takes its toll on his popularity. The way his father used to push the younger talent around, and make his feelings known about them, was definately one of the few bad things he has ever heard about his father.
He is leaving the Toyota Center, fresh out of his wild match with Jackhammer. Just as he reaches his car, Chad Lights runs up with a camera crew trying to get an interview.
~{/CHAD LIGHTS\}~
Jimmy! Jimmy! Hey, impressive match against Jackhammer tonight!
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
It's just another match, Chad. Just another notch on my belt, that nobody really cares about. I am sick and tired of working my ass off for this company, and being put on the bottom. As far as management is concerned, the janitor has a better shot at a decent angle than I do.
~{/CHAD LIGHTS\}~
What are you talking about? You are in a four corners match against Nelly Angel, Ricky Johnson and Brad Kane next Sunday, at Mind Games.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
That's on Wired! That's not even the Pay Per View, man! And to be totally honest, Chad, it doesn't matter who I am facing. Seriously. I am fighting a fight that isn't even mine to fight. The boys in the back don't respect me. They don't care that I bust my ass trying to help make this company great. They don't care that I have busted my ass to make this company number one. All they see when they look at me, is my father. My father was a great wrestler. GREAT! But, his backstage presence left a lot to be desired. Should I have to deal with their unresolved anger towards my father? Is it fair to judge me based on my father's actions?
~{/CHAD LIGHTS\}~
Well, uhhh, ummmm....
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
The answer, Chad, is definitely no. It doesn't matter at all. Because even if I beat Angel, Johnson and Kane this week, it still won't change how I am viewed in the back. Some of these guys that wouldn't no a wrist lock from a wrist watch are further up the food chain than I am. Why? Why, you ask? The answer is politics. You have to know the right ass to kiss around here to get ahead. This is the same thing that my new partner Chris Phere is having.
~{/CHAD LIGHTS\}~
Is that why you guys have teamed together?
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Nice call, genius! Of course it's why we banded together. We are out for much more than personal success and gain, Lights. We want to break the walls of injustice down, and crush the politics that are crippling nCw to its very core. Right now, if your last name isn't Helms, Awesome, Kane, or Ryan, you can't get a whiff of the World title. Granted, those guys are great, there is no doubting that. But sometimes, a changing of the guard must occur for any good business to get great. We have seen it in wrestling promotions all over the world. The old guard, stepping aside and letting the younger guys move up the food chain and carry the company. Will that happen here in nCw? Hell no! These guys are holding onto their spots like a dog on a pork chop. The only way that is going to change is if we pry the reigns of this cart from their cold, dead hands. And this week, on Mind Games, it starts with Johnson! It starts with Angel! It starts with Kane! And it begins with me!
~{/SETTING\}~
Jimmy turns and gets into his car and shuts the door. He starts up his car, and speeds out of the parking lot, squeeling his tires as he goes. Chad Lights turns to the camera and lifts his microphone.
~{/CHAD LIGHTS\}~
Well, there you have it, folks. Jimmy Zane has threw down the gauntlet, and plans on washing nCw clean of politics and corruption. What is truly going to happen, remains to be seen!
~{/SETTING\}~
The scene shifts to Jimmy driving his car down the street, and getting onto I10 East, headed out of Houston, and towards his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana for a few days before heading to Dallas. He picks up his cell and dials Chris Phere's number.
~{/CHRIS PHERE\}~
Hello?
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Hey, Chris, it's Jimmy. Hey man, listen, I am headed to New Orleans for a few days. I gotta go see my mom for some things. She usually helps me get my head on straight before big matches.
~{/CHRIS PHERE\}~
Hey man, its cool. When are we going to be in studio to shoot our show?
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
By mid-week. I just gotta get my mom to help me with some things. She has a little more pull with the spirits that move us than regular peeps do.
~{/CHRIS PHERE\}~
Your mom is really a VooDoo Queen? I thought that was just part of your schtick.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Yep. She really is. It was kind of weird growing up, watching her do the things she did, and then going to school and seeing normal kids. I think that's why I am so twisted today! (laughing)
~{/CHRIS PHERE\}~
(laughing) One could only hope, bro!
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Alright, Chief. I will call you when I am leaving New Orleans, and will meet you in Dallas, my friend!
~{/CHRIS PHERE\}~
OK, bro, I will talk to you then! Peace.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Later man.
~{/SETTING\}~
Jimmy hangs up the phone and continues to drive down the dark highway. Recent events in nCw start to play through his mind. He just gets more and more aggravated with his status in nCw the more he thinks about it. As he finally moves outside the Houston city limits to the dark 2 lane highway headed towards Louisiana, he begins to think out loud.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
What a night this has been. My partner gets punished for trying to help me out when Jackhammer got so frustrated with his inability to beat me, that he had to resort to using weapons against me. That is pretty much par for the course. Brent Sampson comes out, running his mouth, and putting my partner in a Russian Chain Match against that monster Jackhammer. That's just ridiculous. He just wants Jackhammer to be able to beat Chris like a damn animal. Well, we got something for him! Just wait, big boy, just wait! Then, we have the full card for next week's big Pay Per View! LIVE!! From Dallas, Texas, nCw Presents Mind Games!!! Wait a minute, let's see the card, ummmm, I don't see Jimmy Zane on the card. What the hell? Oh, that's because he is on WIRED BEFORE THE PAY PER VIEW!! That's even a step down from Trauma. My stock around rises and falls like a Washington Mutual CEO.
When is management going to wakeup? When are they going to realize that one of the best damn entertainers in their company is standing right here? When are they going to realize that the future of nCw is not in the old guys anymore. Their future is in guys like me, and Chris Phere, Joe Clash, and even Phillip Burns. Man, it pains me to say that. The XDivision? Now, that's something I can deal with. These guys are fantastic wrestlers, no doubt about it, but the bottom line is, I am going to take this match. Really, if Kelly Fox is the person my Dad always said she was, then she would make this for the number 1 contendership for the XDivsion Championship.
~{/SETTING\}~
Jimmy picks up his his cell and dials Kelly Fox's cell. It rings a few times and her voicemail kicks in. Her message plays, and after the beep, Jimmy leaves a message.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Kelly, hey this is Jimmy Zane. I was thinking about my match this week on Wired before Mind Games. What do you think about adding some spice to it so we have something to work for. Let's say....the winner of our match takes on the winner of the XDivision Title match at Transgression next month in San Jose. Anyway, think about it. Thanks!
