Part 1-Clipping an Angels wings
“What is an Angel?. For centuries the mere word “Angel” has conjured up visions of many things, from immaculate looking warriors in roman robes with white dove like wings, to faded white outlines of man and even, devilish looking imps. But what Angels truly are and what they’re perceived to be are two completely different things, see in this day and age people look at Angels as being who watch over them, protect them spirits sent from god to make sure they’re protected, it’s a farce and a lie. Angels are warriors of god, but they have no will of their own, they’re born into lives of servitude, but the one “Angel” who went against traditional rule was looked at as evil, as a threat, the Angel known as Samael, later known as the morning star or “Satan”, it’s strange then that my nemesis, the man who I will be facing in days has the name of Angel, but in spirit is more like the “evil” morning star described in Milton’s epic “paradise lost”"
"But is Angel evil?, Hardly, he isn’t even that much of a rebel, he simply has free will and thought, like me. He lives by the same moral code, he, like me is a true warrior of circumstance, when he steps into the ring he’s not satisfied unless he’s being challenged and pushed, and I admire that. I admire that because it’s a similar trait to myself. I’ve said many times that as I face people better than me I slowly up the heat until I too am up to that level, and each time it happens I get better and better, that is one of the many reasons why I need to face Angel, I don’t just want to, I need to......”
“I need to be able to step in the ring with the man who many say is the greatest X-Division champion of all time. Many have said I’ve been ducking him, that I’ve been avoiding a match with him, those are all lies, I wanted to face Angel badly, but he was to busy going after the world title, but now he’s returned home, he’s returned to the division he made famous, the king has truly come to try and take back his throne. But therein lies the problem, while he’s been gone a new kingdom has arisen, a new legend, a new monarch, me. I’ve stood on top of the X-Division and taken out any enemy willing to try and exert their claim to the title, I’ve stood on top of the mountain and beaten down any challenge ahead of me, I said I’d win the elite eight tournament and I did, I said I’d beat Xavier Williams and embarrass him to show him up as the worthless wannabe he was, and now I’m going to make another bold prediction, Angel and I are going to get in the ring, stand toe to toe, face to face, and we will be separated by the slimmest of margins, one of us will walk away winner and champion, the other will sit back and know they did everything they could to be champion, in this match there will be no loser, there will be a champion and a challenger.....”
“The question Angel and I have to ask ourselves is...which one will we be?”
We see AJ’s smirking face, his handsome features hidden behind his long hair.
“As Angel said, currently, I’m not the toughest opponent he’s ever faced, after all he’s faced world champions, legends, so I wouldn’t expect to be his greatest challenge, yet. But things change and one of my goals isn’t just to be X-Division champion after this, it’s to look in Angels eyes and know that he see’s what I am, to know that he believes in what I’ve said all along, but Angel is on the right track, he’s training, I believe he feels something deep inside that this won’t be like the other times we’ve faced, there’s no tag team partners, no clusters, this is one on one, and what a match it’ll be, we’ll both be so prepared, so ready, we’re both in great shape, we’re both students of the game, we’re both future world champions, I have no doubt in my mind that Angel and I will meet again down the line regardless of what happens at transgression....”
“...And we’ll always tear the roof off...”
“..See although Angel has said time after time his biggest rival has been Xavier, I know eventually he’ll concede it’s me. And our rivalry will go down with the greats of the past, it’ll go down with Sting Vs Flair, Hogan Vs Andre, Austin Vs McMahon, The Rock Vs Triple H, Rob Van Dam Vs Jerry Lynn, Tommy Dreamer Vs Raven, those names will be joined by AJ Phoenix Vs Angel, but something Angel has said has stuck with me, see I could almost call myself the greatest nCw X-Division champion of all time, if it wasn’t for one thing, one small thing, I mean I’ve beaten the former champion in a convincing manner, I’ve destroyed any challenger they’ve put before me, I’ve had the longest singular title run, but the one thing I have yet to do is beat Angel. The one man who can lay claim to being a better champion than me.....”
“...but then again....Maybe it’s also his righteous salvation I need....”
We finally see that AJ is in a church, he stays on his knees with his hands clamped together over the back of a chair
“..Angel, you can go on your merry road trying to save the NCW, me, I’m much simpler, I go on my own road, my own path to greatness. My dream isn’t just confined to my lifetime, I don’t want to be remembered by just my children and my grandchildren, I want my name to live on, to echo through the centuries, I want all new up and comers to be compared to me...that’s what I want, maybe it’s selfish, but in the end, that’s all I have, my own legend, that’s all anyone has, the fame, the fortune, we can’gt take it to the next life, but our names, or legends, they echo through eternity.....”
AJ gets to his feet, he wears a black suit with a white shirt and a tie, he does the buttons on his jacket and smirks staring at one of the stained glass panels, he turns and walks away as we focus in on the panel, it’s of the archangel Michael striking Satan down and sending him from paradise, we fade out on this image....end of part 1
