Shaddix and Chris speed into an exit ramp to get off the interstate and into the town of New Orleans. They stop by an old house that belonged to Shaddix's parents. They walk in and look around for anyone who could be there. No one is seen. They sit down on the couch and are about to start talking when Chris's phone rings. He answers the phone
Chris: Hello
Mumbling can be heard by Shaddix.
Chris : What! No! At least, not now, he's got more important things to worry about. Alright.
Chris hangs up the phone.
Shaddix: Who was that?
Chris: Nobody, don't worry about it, I'll tell you later. Right now, we need to worry about finding your father.
Shaddix: Well, where do we start?
Chris: Didn't you say your father drank a lot?
Shaddix: Yeah, he had a lot of friends at the.... oh, now I get it. Come on, let's go.
Chris : I'm right behind you.
Shaddix and Chris head down the road to the bar and start asking questions. Shaddix sees one of the guys his dad hung out with a lot. He goes over to him and talks to him.
Man: Shaddix, what's going on? I haven't seen you since the fire.
Shaddix: Oh, nothing much, just got a new friend, this is Chris.
Chris and the Man shake hands and exchange greetings.
Shaddix: Do you know anything about the location of my dad?
Man: Well, it's like this. I know your dad didn't die in that fire, and it was for reasons I can't tell you. I know where he is, but I'm not sure if I can tell you.
Shaddix: Why not? What are you taking about?
Man: Trust me, I can't tell you what's going on. Your father made me swear not to tell you where he was.
Shaddix: Why can't you tell me where he is?!
Man: Shaddix! Calm down. Trust me when I say that you don't want to see you father.
Shaddix: Trust me when I say that I am willing to go to any extent to find out where my father is.
Man: You really want to know?
Shaddix: Yes.
Man: Are you sure you want to know?
Shaddix: Yes, just tell me!
Man: Alright, but I warned you. He is in Baton Rouge, about an hour from here, but please, don't go and see him.
Shaddix: Whatever your worried about, I'm not.
Man: Just be careful.
Shaddix and Chris exit the bar and get on the bike.
Chris: What do you think he was talking about?
Shaddix: I don't know, and according to him, I don't want to. Let's just go.
Chris: Alright.
They speed of towards the town of Baton Rouge, not knowing the deep, dark truth they are about to learn.
