Shaddix and Chris are speeding down the rainy, dark and empty highway, heading into Baton Rouge, and to the house where Shaddix's father is. Shaddix is in deep thought about his fight with Kevin Kruger.
( Kruger... is not important right now. My father is within miles. Kruger can wait, I am about to be reunited with one of my only living relatives left. I want to talk to my father, then I'll worry about Kruger.)
They pull over in front of a black, old house. It looks abandoned. All wood, wet wood.
Chris: This is it.
Shaddix: Really?
Chris: Yeah, this is where your dad is.
Shaddix: Well, then let's go.
Chris: Wait. Think about what that man told you. Are you sure you want to do this?
Shaddix: Don't worry, I can handle whatever this problem is.
Chris: If you say so. Let's go in.
They walk into the home. All the lights are off. The only source of light is the moonlight shining through the windows. They walk around looking for someone. They walk into a room and see a man staring out the window. The man begins to speak to them.
Man: How did you find me?
Shaddix: Dad I'm so-
Man: I said, how did you find me. I made it clear that I didn't want to see you.
Shaddix: What are you saying?
Man: I'm saying that you should be dead.
Shaddix: Yeah, I know, good thing I wasn't at home when the accident-
Man: It was no accident.
Shaddix: What do you mean?
Man: I mean, it wasn't an electrical shortage that caused that fire, it was me.
Shaddix: Dad, stop kidding around.
Man: I'm serious.
The man turns around and looks at Shaddix.
Man: I started that fire, and I'm damn proud of it.
Shaddix: What! How could you do that to your own family?!
Man: I hated each and every one of you, I wanted you all dead. My only regret, is that I didn't kill you too.
Shaddix falls down to his knees and bows his head down.
Chris: Your a sick man.
The man looks at Shaddix on the ground.
Man: That's right. Cry you little baby. Your a failure. I can't live my life with a failure. That's all they ever were, each and every-
Shaddix jumps up and grabs his father's shirt and pins him up against the wall. He gets face to face with him and starts yelling.
Shaddix: WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM! YOU'RE THE SICKEST MAN I'VE EVER MET, I'M ASHAMED TO CALL YOU MY FATHER!
Man: Don't worry boy. The feeling is mutual.
Shaddix: You deserve what your about to get.
Shaddix takes his father and throws him across the room and through a round wooden table. His father pulls out a gun.
Man: I decided that since you survived the fire and ran off, I would let you live, but now, I'm gonna kill you.
Shaddix has his back turned and the man raises the gun to fire. Chris runs over.
Chris: Watch out!
Chris kicks the man's hand and knocks the gun out of it. Shaddix picks up the gun and points it at his father.
Shaddix: You deserve all of this, but I don't.
Man: Go ahead, kill me. I dare you.
Shaddix struggles to try and pull the trigger, but can't. He throws the gun across the room and shakes his head.
Shaddix: Your not worth it.
Man: That's right now get the hell out of my house.
Shaddix goes to walk out the door. His father jumps up and pulls out a knife and runs toward Shaddix.
Chris: Shaddix, watch out!
The man swings the knife at Shaddix's head. Shaddix ducks and spins around. He grabs his father and throws him into a giant book case, filled with books. He hits the case and falls to the ground. The case falls down on top of him, knocking him out.
Shaddix walks out and Chris slowly follows behind him. They walk outside into the damp driveway. The rain has stopped. Shaddix screams.
Chris: Shaddix, just calm down.
Shaddix: How do you expect me to calm down after what just happened. I have no one left.
Chris: Hey, I'll always be with you.
Shaddix: I know, but my father is still alive, and he wanted me dead. How can I live with that.
Chris: Look, you have finally figured out the answer to your questions. It may not have been the answer you wanted, but you got it. Now, you can focus 100% on you fights and matches. It's a perfect way to let out all this rage you have. How about that?
Shaddix: I guess your right. My rage has been my downfall before, now it can be my power. Kevin Kruger, here I come.
