~{/SETTING\}~
Jimmy Zane is seen leaving his hotel in New York. It's a beautiful night, so he decides to walk. He strolls down Fifth Avenue, among the upper echelon of the financial world. He walks past high end shopping centers and just laughs a little to himself at the people scurrying about inside, looking for the latest in high fashion, and willing to spend any amount of money to get it. He sits on a park bench outside, enjoying the night air, and people walking by. The streets are busy with traffic, as is always the case in New York City. He leans back on the bench and gets comfortable, just watching, and thinking about his upcoming match with Homeless Harold at Sovereign. As he is sitting there, a broken down old man hobbles up to the bench with a cane and asks if he can sit down. Jimmy smiles and slides over as the old timer slowly leans back and finally comes to a rest on the bench. He sighs loudly as he puts his can across his lap. They sit there for a moment, both kind of watching traffic, and the basic calamity that is New York City. The old man, finally breaks the silence.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
Like a bunch of rats on a sinking ship!
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Excuse me?
~{/OLD MAN\}~
These people. They run around here like a bunch of rats on a sinking ship. Running here and there without a clue as to why they are doing it.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
I think a lot of them just enjoy the shopping and the atmosphere.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
BAH! These people are looking at nothing but material possessions. They don't know what it's like to really live. To be free from all the hassle of mundane things. To be open to moving from place to place seeking out new adventures just to see what you could get into. These youngsters today just want, want, want, and never give anything back.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Maybe that is how they were raised. Maybe they were taught to go after everything they wanted in life and that's what they are doing.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
The problem isn't going after the things you want, son. It's going after things that, in the end, mean nothing as to who you are. Chasing a leather jacket because some fruity guy from England put his name on it is just plain retarded. Why not chase a dream? Chase something you don't even know that you can catch. Chase something that will show you who you truly are!!!
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
So what did you chase?
~{/OLD MAN\}~
(Sighing deeply) A girl.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
A girl?
~{/OLD MAN\}~
Not just any girl, mind you. Margaret was the sun in my sky. The moon in my night. The breeze in my face, and everything I ever wanted. When we met, ahhhh, I tell you, it was like fireworks.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
They had fireworks back then?
~{/OLD MAN\}~
You getting smart with me, boy?
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
No, I was just curious.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
Anyway, she was a politician's daughter, and I was just a plumber's son. She was the perfect lady, and I was... well, a plumber's son! (laughing) Most would think it was doomed from the start. I saved up every penny I could find, and bought myself a second hand suit. I snuck my way into a ball where I knew she would be, and when the time was right, i struck up a conversation with her.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
So how did that work out?
~{/OLD MAN\}~
We talked all night. She found me fascinating, and I found her downright appealing to he senses.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
No, I meant after that. Did anything come of the relationship.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
Margaret and I would have been married sixty five years this Sunday. She's passed on now, but it's like she is here with me all the time.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
I'm sorry to hear that.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
Don't be. It was the most wonderful 64 years of my life, son, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's a love like that, boy, that lasts a lifetime. You got a lady in your life?
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
I do, but not really a lady.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
You don't like boys do ya?
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
(laughing) Oh now, my lady love is wrestling.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
So you do like boys!
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
No, it's a sport just like football or baseball....
~{/OLD MAN\}~
(laughing) I'm just joshin' ya, boy! I know what it is. You are that Jimmy Zane feller!
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Guilty! (laughing)
~{/OLD MAN\}~
So, you gonna tell an old man who that Homeless fella with the mask on really is?
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Do you really wanna know?
~{/OLD MAN\}~
Wouldn't have asked if I didn't!
~{/SETTING\}~
Jimmy smiles and then leans over and whispers in his ear. The old man gets downright giddy and turns and looks at Jimmy.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
Yes! We have been friends a long time, but things are a little sour now. Heck, my head still hurts from the damage he as inflicted on me!
~{/OLD MAN\}~
Well, take some advice from this old man, kiddo. Don't give up on your friend. I know he has lost his way, and I know he has some battles he still has to fight. But never give up on him. When my Margaret got sick, I hung in there with her. I never gave up. And when the sickness overtook her, and she passed on, it would have been easy for me to give up. To just let go and be with her. But there is a greater plan for me in life. There is a greater outlook for me. Maybe me sitting here talking to you was what I was meant to do, who knows? I mean there are a million things I could be here for, kiddo, and it's my job to find out what that is. Just like it's your job to find out why you are where you are in life.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
But what if my reason for being here was to finally put him out of his misery and beat him into submission until he just gets embaressed and quits? What if it's too late to mend that breach and repair something that he doesn't want to repair? I mean there are so many questions I need answers to, but nobody has the answers.
~{/OLD MAN\}~
Oh, my friend. There is always someone with the answers!
~{/SETTING\}~
Jimmy looks at the old man who is smiling and pointing towards the sky. They both look up and kind of laugh and nod at each other. The old men continue to laugh and talk for a little while longer before the old man decides he needs to get on home. As he leaves, Jimmy smiles, and gets up and walks back to the hotel. He walks in with a new swagger, and some pep in his step. He walks up to his room and realizes that he is a bundle of energy and happiness. That's when he looks into the camera and begins to speak.
~{/JIMMY ZANE\}~
You know, it's been a long time since I felt this way. I true inner peace has come over me like a tidal wave, and I am renewed. I am once again whole, and I truly feel that I can do anything. Harold, whether you like it or not, big man, I am your friend. You can talk all the trash you want to talkd do all the things you want to do to me, but the one thing you cannot do is break my spirit. You cannot break that inner lying beam of hope and happiness that resides in everyone, including you! Once you find it again, my friend, you will be able to light up the entire world. I know the size of your heart, and I know that your will, your inner strength is stronger than steel. I know right now you are confused and hurt, and part of that is my fault. But to be truly happy, the mask has to come off, buddy. The front is over, and a new day is dawning, and it's time to wake up my friend. It's time to set your spirit free.
As for you, Adam Knite. Last week was a flat out fluke. You can't beat me again, and when I am done with Harold this week, I want a rematch. I want it to be you, and me, in a steel cage. Yeah, that's right, I said it. I want it, and I want it bad. You talk about my dad not beating you, and me not beating you. Well, the time has come for your reign to come to an end. Your time of running Rough-shod over the company is coming to an end. An abrupt end, my friend. You are a minipulative piece of trash, and I promise you that if you agree to this match with me. If you have the balls to stand up for what you believe in, that is, assuming Kelly Fox will give them back to you for one night anyway. Then let's do it. You and me, one on one. No friends. No teammates. No interference. Two walk in, one walks out. Plain and simple.
On another note. I found out a little something about myself tonight. That something is that no matter what has happened in the past, the future is still bright. It still holds all the hopes and dreams that it did the day before. It still holds all that is true and good in this world, and there is nothing and nobody that can take that away from us. I might not be in the Collisuem match. But I can tell you right now, that I plan on doing everything I can to move into this World Title picture here in nCw. I plan on pushing my way in, no matter how many people don't want me there. So whether it's hammy, or the Ass...errr....Ace that is the champion after Sunday. Believe me when I tell you, I am coming, and I am coming with a vengeance. You may not see me coming, but you will... REAP THE WHIRLWIND!
~{/SETTING\}~
Jimmy smiles into the camera and gets up as the scene fades to black.
