I was just wondering, has anybody played that new game "Heavy Rain"? If so, thoughts?

Okay, I've been privy to many debates as to whether or not Heavy Rain is defined as a 'game', or just an 'interactive movie'. It's true that if broken down into its key components, it could be defined as a point-and-click adventure game without the pointing and clicking and lots of QTE's thrown in for good measure, but quite frankly in terms of a gaming experience, I cannot remember the last time I could lose myself in a story. The characters (despite their badly disguised French accents) are believable and the story is deep and tugs you along, forcing you to make decisions that will challenge you emotionally.
The pitch is 'what are you willing to do to save someone you love?', and despite being able to be detached as a gamer, to be able to step back, there will be points where you will feel entitled to make a decision that you would probably make if the situation were presented to you not as some dorito-eating, energy-drink-swilling gamer, but as a human being.
The graphics are absolutely fantastic, and aside from a few plotholes (okay, there is one MAJOR plothole that is never truly explained), there is nothing I can find to be truly bad about this game. There are multiple plotlines, the ability to actually lose a main character and still be able to reach a conclusive ending which makes the replay value skyrocket. If you want a great gaming experience (just so long as your PS3 is still working), I highly recommend you buy or at the very least rent it for the weekend.
tl;dr : Hammo gives Heavy Rain two thumbs up.

good luck playing it, psn is down No it's not... it's the old fat PS3s themselves that are jacked at the moment. PSN and the Slim models are just fine. And that's supposed to correct itself in around an hour and 15 minutes.

Well, I decided to go ahead and get it and I tell ya... The storyline has HOOKED me in line and sinker and the ONLY thing that's gotten the controller out of my hands was that RAW is about to come on lol. Thanks for the great advice, I'm glad I went out and got this one. It's not like anything I've played before. I really hope there is a sequel or more alike this one.
