Act 1: What should we do with him?
The scene opens on the interior of the black limo where we see James Davis sitting between Reno and Rude. They had picked him up just a few minutes ago, and were on their way to either see the boss or end his life, he couldn't tell which just yet. His mind kept racing, and going over the chat that he and Joanne had before his match on Friday night. Had he said something wrong, done something to make the Don of Jersey Shore angry at him? Reno and Rude hadn't said a whole lot, and that's what was worrying him.
Rude: Reno, what do you think we should do to him?
Reno: I say we break all of his fingers... Or maybe toss him in the pine barrens naked.
Rude: That's a good idea. But what if he talks to the police?
Reno just looks at Davis, and puts an arm around his shoulder.
Reno: You wouldn't tell the police anything would you?
James smirks at the conversation, inwardly dreading the outcome. He looks out the tinted windows, watching the buildings whip past.
James Davis: The police? Would they even matter right now? he sighs What's the deal boys? Did I do something to piss her off? If you think you can intimidate me, you're better off just finishing this up and not wasting your time. To be honest, you two have me scared sh!tless. I'm not going to stand a chance against a guy who can wrestle a 'gator. So.. where do I stand in this?
Reno and Rude just laugh, as Reno smacks him on the back.
Rude: First off that was her brother. He's f***ing crazy anyway. Two, she never told us what she wanted with you.
Reno: Yeah for right now you're cool. But do anything stupid and they'll never find your body.
James laughs nervously with them, his eyes stating clearly he is uncertain to where this situation could lead.
James Davis: I do my best to not do anything stupid. It's just not my style.
Reno: Good. So we understand each other then.
They drive the rest of the way in silence. The black wrought iron gates soon appear at the bottom of the long driveway, that lead up to the estate. The driveway twisted and turned for what seemed like miles off of the road to Davis, but soon ended. The limo comes to a stop, and the back door opens, only to reveal Scarpaci standing in front of him.
Scarpaci: What in the hell is he doing here?
Rude: The boss sent for him.
Reno and Rude grab Davis by the arms and lead him up the stairs and into the house. His eyes slowly adjust to the dim light, as they drag him down a long hallway. On his way through the hall his eyes catch pictures of Joanne and a few celebrities but one catches his attention the most. In a rather large frame there was one of a young Joanne with the silver haired man that was known as Sephiroth du Lac. James attempts to stop and get a closer look, but is pulled along by Reno.
James Davis: I recognize that guy.
Rude: Uh huh. Keep it moving.
They soon come to a wooden door at the end of the hallway. Reno knocks on it, and opens it slowly.
Reno: Boss, we have him.
Joanne: Then show him in.
With that Reno and Rude toss Davis through the door, only to land right at Joanne's feet, as he door is closed behind him. Joanne just smiles down at him, with her arms folded in front of her.
Joanne: Welcome to my home. I hope they weren't to rough with you.
James Davis: Dryly Not any rougher than would be expected.
James stands, smoothing out his pants.
James Davis: I'm going to suggest that next time you just call. But, I don't think I'm in any position to say anything. You wanted to see me?
Joanne just nods and walks over to a table filled with bottles of dark liquors She pours herself a glass, and smiles over the rim.
Joanne: I don't like usin' the phone. Most of the time it's tapped. But I wanted to say congrats on your win last week. I'm very impressed with how it went.
James Davis: Yeah?
James looks around the room, as Joanne heads for the high backed black chair behind the old mahogany desk in front of the window.
James Davis: I was actually hoping you saw that I've been putting your 'gift' to good use.
Joanne: Indeed you did. I've called you here for another reason too. I'm in need of people on my side. You've shown great initiative and I want you to join with us. Any time you need me I'll be there, and I expect the same from you. I don't make this offer to just anyone, I want you to know that.
James stands stunned.
James Davis: Wow. I.. I don't know what to say. I mean, I appreciate the offer, but...
Joanne looks at him with a sigh, and takes another sip from the glass she has in her hands.
Joanne: Let me tell you this... I only ask once. If you refuse me, your ass is mine.
James swallows hard.
James Davis: No, it's not that! It's just.. I think there is strength in numbers and you've got 'numbers'. You see, everyone has their own agenda in NCW. From the top dog to the dirt, everyone's moving. I have.. I don't know where exactly I would fit into your organization. I mean, I would like to work with you.. er, for you. But, this thing I have going with Payne.. I'm still trying to find my spot.
Joanne nods, and gets to her feet, and leans against one of the corners of the desk.
Joanne: I guess you haven't seen the challenge that Chris Payne threw out to you. He wants you and a partner of your choice in a tag match against him and his father.
James Davis: Challenged me? Are you serious? he laughs. What in the world is that boy thinking? This beef is between me and his father!
Joanne: I am. I have no clue what his problem is, but I can't help you there. They won't let me play with the big boys. But I'll tell you what... I'll be at ring side if you accept the challenge, just to... keep my eye on you, and make sure you get the upper hand if you know what I mean...
James Davis: Hmm. That's actually not a bad idea. And just because you can't play with us 'boys', doesn't mean your 'boys' can't get in the sandbox. Although, I don't think it will be necessary. So wait, what's the big deal? Does he want something beside a normal match?
James walks over to her, eying her drink. She looks at him, and smiles, taking another drink from her glass.
Joanne: Want one? Help yourself. It doesn't seem like he wants anythin' special, but I wouldn't put it past someone like him. He seems to take after his father. Both of them are unpredictable, and crazy.
James Davis: I could do with some water, actually, I was just finishing training when.. those two picked me up.
James walks over to the table and spots one bottle of water amidst the dark bottles.
James Davis: Payne crazy? No, it's a tactic. I guess, you could say, that's one thing he learned from me. Get in your opponent's head, make them question everything.. By the time they face you, they're far from ready.
Joanne: I've faced ones like that before. They think if they can get into your head, you'll blow your match, and they gain the easy win. But this week you face Tommy Victor is it? Focus on him for now. Both of our matches are on Friday night, which is tomorrow night. I'm goin' up against someone that is truly crazed. Julietta Lee. I've seen her in the ring, and she's goin' to be a challenge if nothin' else.
James takes a drink from the bottle, downing half of it.
James Davis: No, you're right. I'm better at that tactic than him. I should stay focused and on target. Tommy Victor. He shrugs. I've been reviewing his matches and have a good strategy. Besides, there is always 'Plan B'.
James takes out the pair of brass knuckles from his back pocket.
Joanne: They always come in handy. But only use them when you know you can get away with it. Distract the ref one way or another then use them. I haven't seen any of his matches but just be ready and ever underestimate your opponent.
James Davis: Oh, I won't make that mistake. Tommy Victor is going to have his work cut out for him. I'm going in tomorrow night looking to carve my name in his skin. He laughs, almost manic. I want him to scream. I want to hear him beg for mercy. I almost had him at my debut, he was practically tapping! I'm going to make him submit this time. He'll be hard-pressed to walk when I'm through. I.. uh.. sorry. I didn't mean to get carried away.
James looks over the bottle and drinks some more water. Joanne just smiles and downs the rest of what was in her glass.
Joanne: Don't worry about it. I get that way some times when I know I have the match, or at least think I have it. I have to go up against a new girl that reminds me a lot of Cleopatra. She has a Goddess complex just like her. Angel Kash doesn't know what she's goin' to be dealin' with this week.
James Davis: I don't doubt that for one second. You're a sure shot for the Women's title, just got to get through the masses. he laughs. Maybe one of these days I could show you some moves. Always good to keep learning.
Joanne: That it is. You never did answer me... Are you in or are you out? I can help you with a lot of thin's includin' your problem with Payne. But it's up to you.
James turns from the table. He downs the last of the water and tosses it into a small waste basket.
James Davis: I'm in.
He chuckles and runs his hands over his neck. Joanne just smiles and extends her hand to him.
Joanne: Then welcome to the family. Now if you excuse me I still have a match to get ready for. The guys will take you back to where they found you.
James shakes her hand warmly, turning it to admire her rings.
James Davis: Should I kiss them? he smiles. But, I understand. You.. know how to reach me. It's time to educate NCW on who's the real 'boss' around here. 'Class' is in session.
Joanne: Don't worry I'll keep in touch.
The door opens once again, and Reno and Rude are standing there.
Reno: Sorry about earlier...
Rude: Yeah we're just messing with you. You hungry man? We know the perfect place.
With that they lead Davis out of the office leaving Joanne alone once again. She smiles to herself, as she sits back in her chair, and stares out the window as the scene fades to black.
Act 2: All on a Quiet Afternoon
The scene reopens somewhere on the Canelli estate grounds. The sun was shinning brightly in the sky, and a light breeze blew through the blossoming trees, while little chickadees went in search of their next meal. We soon see Joanne walking along the grounds, dressed in a pair of tight fitting pants, and a short crew top. Her business was done for the day, and now it was time to relax for the rest of the day. Her match still played in the back of her mind, and was ready to face Julietta and Angel on Friday night, and be the home town hero.
Joanne: Our time is drawin' close ladies. Will you be ready to face me on Friday night, or will I be the victor this week once again? Julietta I know you and you won't let me get this win without tryin' to kill me at least once while we're in the ring. But Angel is the wild card in this whole match. She's new and neither of us know what she can do.
Joanne walks by the old oak tree in the back yard and smiles watching a couple of squirrels running up and down the old trunk. They were cute, as their tails twitched and chased each other only to play when they caught each other. She stands there and watches them for a moment more and walks off again.
Joanne: I know this is a one for all match, and I'm willin' to push myself to the limit but are you Julietta? We've never faced each other but I've seen footage of the destruction you can do, and the pain that you bring into the ring each time you face someone. I'm not scared of you and I'm not goin' to back down no matter what you try. I've been through worse and I can handle anythin' that you can throw at me. As for Angel I just have one thin' to say to you, if you think that you can stand against me, then come to the ring with everythin' that you have. Let's see how long you can stand against me, without knowin' what I can do. I've taken down people like you before. You think you're better than everyone else, but guess what you're not. I don't know anythin' about you, besides what I found on your personal file and trust me that wasn't a whole lot. You might have talent but the question is can you use it well enough to stand against me? I guess only time will tell won't it? Friday night is comin' and your time will be short lived in the NCW. But most importantly remember... We are the Mafioso; we get paid to kick your ass! Good luck... because you're goin' to need it. See you soon.
Joanne just smiles at the camera as she hears Scarpaci yelling from somewhere behind her. She turns around with his gun in hand chasing one of the squirrels toward the old oak tree. She walks back over to the tree and grabs Scarpaci by the arm.
Joanne: What in the hell are you doing?
Scarpaci: The squirrels took a kilo from the stash!
Joanne: What? Did you say what I thought you did?
Scarpaci: The squirrels stole a kilo from the stash! Did I ****ing stutter?
Joanne shakes her head, and sighs. She had remembered stories that her grandfather would tell them about the squirrels stealing money from him and even a few things of booze would disappear, but no one had believed him. Small animals like that couldn't move things bigger than them... Could they?
Joanne: How much of it have you had today?
Scarpaci: I haven't have any!I swear to you! Those little furry bastards took it before I could...
Joanne just laughs, and leads her brother back to the house, getting him out of the bright afternoon sun. As the camera pans toward the tree, and moves into the small hole in the tree, we see a small bag of white powder, and a rather large brown squirrel sitting beside it. It turns around and looks at the camera with little black eyes, leaving us to wonder, is Scarpaci telling the truth or is he truly crazy, as the scene fades to black.
