Act 1: A Small Gift
The scene opens on the quiet neighborhood in Jersey Shore. The lone paper boy made his way down the street once more, tossing the morning paper over the high walls only to land just in front of the steel gates. As the camera pans along the street we see the vast Canelli Estate, that loomed over the street. The guards were making their morning rounds, keeping everything secure, and the woman inside safe, after the last attempt on her life. The camera focuses in one a large window on the back of the house, where we find the office of the Jersey Devil Diva. It was quiet, and the dimly lit with the curtains pulled back to let the morning sun in. The door to the office soon opens and Joanne walks in with the boys following behind. Joanne sighs as she walks to the desk and sits in her high backed black leather chair, and leans back putting her feet up on the desk. Her match hadn't gone as she had planned, but the best thing was Tara Fenix didn't win the match. Emma Danielson had walked away with the win, and had earned Joanne's respect. Before Joanne had gotten out of the ring she had raised Emma's hand in victory, and walked off, as Tara slinked backstage in defeat.
Joanne: Reno, I want you to send Ms. Danielson a gift.
Reno: Do you mean a gift? Or a gift "gift"?
Joanne: Find the biggest box of Jager that you can find, buy it, and get it to her. I want to congratulate her for her win on Sunday night.
Scarpaci: You're taking the loss rather well sis.
Rude: I thought you would be ready to kill someone by now.
Joanne: No... If Tara had won, I would be pissed off. But for some odd reason I'm glad that Emma won you know. Besides... there will be other chances.
She gets up from where she sits, and walks over to the table that was filled with the liquor bottles, and pours herself a drink, leaning against the table.
Joanne: This week isn't goin' to be to bad of a match. I mean I'm up against Maria Williams, and Roxi Johnson. A triple threat match against two of the lower Diva's. Some how I feel gipped, and under appreciated, but if they want me to take down Williams again, then I'll do it. Roxi isn't that bad, but I know she'll want to win this match as well, so I can't just let her walk away with the win that I truly deserve.
Reno: Yeah that's right! You are the best out of the three of you. You've been through a lot and always seem to come out on top. You've only lost two matches since you've joined with the NCW anyway. Not a bad record in my book.
Joanne just smiles at him, and blushes slightly, as she took a drink from the glass that was in her hand.
Joanne: That's sweet of you Reno. Why don't you guys go and take care of that business for me? I'll be fine.
Rude: Sure thing boss. C'mon guys.
The guys walk out of the office leaving Joanne alone. Out in the hallway Rude smacks Reno on the arm as they walk.
Reno: What the hell was that for?
Rude: You were flirting with the boss. Dude why don't you take her out tonight?
Scarpaci: Are you serious? My sister and Reno?
Reno: I wasn't flirting... I was just...
Rude: Yeah... When we get back ask her out man. She might say that she's fine, but deep down she's depressed that she didn't win the match last night.
Reno: I don't know... Do you think she would?
Scarpaci: Of course she would... But you hurt her in any way, and I'll kill you.
Reno and Rude just look at him and laugh, as they walk off with Scarpaci trailing behind them. In the office Joanne goes back to the her chair and turns facing the window staring out into the back yard.
Joanne: Once again Maria we will stand face to face in the ring once again. Didn't you learn anythin' from the last time that we met? This time you won't have Everyman with you, and it's not goin' to be easy to take me down. I just comin' off a loss and I'm willin' to do anythin' to win our match, and I do mean everythin' and anythin'.
Joanne just smiles slightly, and glances back at the camera with her dark eyes sparkling in the bright sun.
Joanne: Maria have you ever won a match since you've even been in the NCW? I mean what use are you to anyone if you can't win a simple match? Hell I've won a few and yet I'm still climbin' to the top, while you sit by and just let yourself get beaten every time that you step into the ring with anyone. Even when you had Joe with you, you couldn't even take me out then! So what makes you think that you are goin' to stand a chance against me on Friday night?
Joanne turns the chair around and smiles softly. She puts her feet up on the corner of the desk once again, and leans back.
Joanne: As for you Roxi, I never had a chance to face you yet. You seem like a nice enough person, but I have to tell you that you're not goin' to be walkin' away the winner of the match, and neither is Maria. No matter what you do you won't be able to stop me. I want you to bring everythin' that you have to this match, and show me that you're not as worthless as I think that you are, oh and that goes for Maria as well. How times have either of you come that close to getting a number one contender's shot for either one of those titles that Zelda and Ayla has in their hands right now? I came close and almost had it, but I'm not goin' to dwell on it, but I'm goin' to move on to the next match I have, and it just happens to be you two. I'm still on my way to the top, while you two have fallen back and into the shadows once again.
Joanne just smiles, as her cell phone rings in her pocket. She sighs and answers it, turning to face the window. It was her father, letting her know that James Davis had arrived safely at the estate in Italy. She spends a few minutes on the phone before hanging up, and sighs, getting to her feet.
Joanne: Friday night we'll see who really has talent, and who is the trash in the NCW. See you ladies soon.
Time passes by slowly and Joanne heads out of the office, and heads for the kitchen, as the front door opens. The guys were back, and had a rather large case with them. She knew the job was done, but they also got a case for themselves. She sighs, and starts for the stairs, as Reno grabs her hand.
Reno: Joanne... I was wondering...
Joanne: Yes...
Reno: Will you go out with me tonight? I mean I know you're upset that you didn't win the match, and I figure that maybe a night out might...
Joanne: Might help me relax huh?
Reno sighs, and knew then that he was being blown off. He goes to walk off, and Joanne doesn't let go of his hand but just smiles at him.
Joanne: I would love to...
Reno just smiles as she kisses him on the cheek and walks up the stairs to her room. She had a lot to do to get ready, and wanted to look her best. The morning was going to be filled with meetings and other things, but the rest of the day was hers, and tonight she would be him. She sighs, and looks back down the stairs, as the guys walked off, only to walk away with a smile on her face as the scene fades to black.
