OPENING
First off before I really begin I just want to say thank you to Zelda for covering for me last week. It was a sweet gesture and I think she did a fantastic job, to all the people who were picking on her... shame on you. This week though it feels good to be back writing my column, Ryleigh is fast asleep so I'm going to knock this out for all my Knitelifers out there.
Zelda's poll was of course about video games, no surprise there, and all the Knitelife fans have spoken and they chose Super Mario Bros. as their favorite video game series, narrowly knocking off the Legend of Zelda. I don't think Z would mind the outcome of that poll at all, she's a big fan of all three of the top games chosen. Thanks for all the turn out on that poll but this week we're going to have a slightly more serious one, you know how I do.
This week's poll is going to be over who do you think deserved to be in the World title match at Reborn? As you all most likely know by now it was announced that because of my father and Steve's constant interfering that both Adam and Brad would be getting into the match, ruining Steve's goals of being the only #1 contender. What I'm asking is who do you think should have been in there instead? Who do you feel deserves a shot, but was screwed out of one by Leonard Fox in other words.
I chose seven names that I felt were fine canidates, if you feel that I too gave a couple of names the snub I'm sorry, it was unintentional and I can't make a poll of every wrestler, then nothing would get decided that way. So just give it a vote and lets see what the fans think shall we?
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
You know, I feel bad for judging a show just because of something my father did leaving a bad taste in my mouth, but that's what I'm going to have to do here. We had some great matches, some highly contested contests but my father and Steve ruining that #1 contenders match, just leaves a terrible aftertaste to what should have been an amazing week of wrestling.
Trauma, gave us a solid showing with Seth Evans overcoming two men in Chris Diamond's attempt to teach him a lesson. It was great seeing Evans managing to pull through and walk away with a victory. However, it seems his reward for doing so is a heelish match this week.... gotta feel sorry for the guy right now.
On Collision we had some fantastic matches, I mean it's not often that we have two title matches and a #1 contenders match on the same show, but by God we did this week. The Everymen brothers put their hearts into their title matches this week and both almost walked out as champions but sadly neither of them could overcome the champions. I know I pick on Joe a lot, but watching him lose that match after seeing how hard he fought to win was heart breaking. You could hear the fans backing him and cheering him on, when Angel won I don't know if there was a dry eye in attendence.
It's a good thing Joe was able to put on such a show too, otherwise the entire show would of be overshadowed by my father's group of marry men he and Steve have formed. It's a total shame that Brad and Adam didn't get a chance to fight their way into the Reborn match, however Ruston Bourne again come to the rescue when he declared he'd seen enough of the interference and stupid games, giving both men the shot.
It was a great show, and thanks to the performance of Joe Everyman it was saved from that bitter taste. Overall I'd have to say it was one of our better works, but just could have been better if not for the forming of “The Front Office”.... I'll have to give her a 8.7
PREVIEW OF THIS WEEK
Last Week's Record :: 7-3 :: Wow, if I wouldn't of crapped out on Trauma (1-3) I would of had an amazing record this week, also I'd like to point out that other then the #1 contenders match I was PERFECT on Collision. Oh yeah baby.
Overall Record :: 64-37 :: Still holding strong.
Upset of the Week Record :: 4-5 :: Two weeks in a row? Are you kidding me!? I have a chance this week to get it to .500, man I've gotta make a good choice this week. Keep your fingers crossed.
TRAUMA
Singles Match
Emma Danielson vs. Tara Fenix
This is going to be a tough match to call here, Emma is the number one contender, and has beaten Fenix before to earn that shot... but I think Tara gets a measure of revenge here.
Five Way Dance
Destructor! vs. Mike Honcho vs. Freakke vs. Shawn Styles vs. Mark Evil
This Shawn Styles guy is going to turn some heads in NCW, you just wait and see. I'm going with him in this match.
!!!UPSET OF THE WEEK!!!
Tag Team Match
Tempestad and Sephiroth du Lac vs. Motor City Mafia
This is my upset of the week because MCM are former tag team champions and Temp/Seph are still trying to find their way as a team.
Main Event: Singles Match
Ayla St. James vs. Cleopatra
A lover's quarrel? This is going to be a very interesting match. Ayla is a great wrestler, but her “master” is a bit better so she'll win.
COLLISION
Singles Match
Ricky Johnson vs. Rob Diamond
Rob Diamond is very good and Ricky Johnson is having a bit of hard luck finding wins lately.
Tag Team Match
DDK and Tommy Victor vs. Ron Gibson and Nathan Doe
I don't know how anybody could judge this match, it's going to be a complete toss up. However for the sake of being consistent I'm going to have to go with the team that has the crazy guy on it.
Singles Match
Andrew Jacobsen vs. Joe Everyman
Both men have a losing streak going, Joe showed too much heart last week to come out flat this week. I've never voted for Joe, but I'm doing so now, don't let me down Everyman.
Triple Threat X-Treme Rules Match
Seth Evans vs. JFK vs. Venom
This is nothing more than a glorified handicapped match.... so I'm going with JFK or Venom, because I don't see Seth Evans overcoming this... the Young Guns aren't Freakke and Blair, they're too good to lose this.
Tag Team Match
Charlie Velez and Xavier Cross vs. Philip Burns and Will Washington
Good grief, could we have any more tough arse matches to judge on these shows?! I think Cross is going to get a measure of revenge for last week, that's my pick.
Champion vs. Champion Non-Title Match
Doc vs. Falcon
If anybody can slow Doc down it will be Falcon. It's going to be tough, but I have faith in the bird boy.
Main Event: Intergender Six Person Tag Team Match
Steve Awesome, Brad Kane, and Freya Ragnal vs. Angel, Adam Knite, and Zelda Knite
Hey.... what did you expect? I'm not voting for **** head and Adam/Zelda are my family, they can win this.
Well there you have it, I hope I can really get that record of mine up with these shows. I did a lot of pumping up of last week's shows, but I've got to say the more I look at this week's card the more I think this show could easily top last weeks and we had a world title match on those cards!
You will not want to miss theses shows people.
THE FAB FIVE
5. Doc :: I might as well just keep his name on here it seems, it's only the spot that really changes.
4. Emma Danielson :: Her and Zelda managed to bring down two great competitors in that tag team match.
3. Seth Evans :: He had all the odds stacked against him but still managed to come away with a handicaped win.
2. DDK :: Keeps winning, and defeated the X-Division champion in the Trauma main event.
1. Joe Everyman :: I don't care that he lost, that was one of the most inspired and gutsy performances of all time.
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
There is going to be plenty to see this week, so me telling you specifics almost seems like an insult, but I'm going to give you some highlights that I can already see from these cards.
I seldom mention main events here because it just seems stupid, it's the “MAIN EVENT” there is no reason for me to put any extra emphasis on them, they're already the top match on the card. However, this week's is just too good to not point out. We have one team that is comprised of three world champions, another team comprised of the “Face of the Franchise” and the always dangerous Brad Kane with his little sister Freya and it's going to be a match you'll regret not seeing, I'm calling it now... match of the week.
Then I think you should keep your eye out on a couple of NCW newcomers. Shawn Styles was impressive last week in his debut and the man has a load of talent, he's going to be a star. Robby Marshall, he isn't too bad himself.... I don't know about all that rapping or whatever he calls it, but he's got in-ring ability no doubt about it.
Andrew Jacobsen and Joe Everyman square off in a match where they both try to end their losing streaks, this is going to be a match over pride and nothing more. Those are always great matches to watch to see who just plane wants it more.
THE KNITELINE
Emilio, El Paso, Texas
NCW has really opened it's doors lately and has added quite a few additions to it's roster. Anyone inparticular you see stepping up and making an impact in NCW sometime in the near future?
I really like what I'm seeing for this Shawn Styles guy. Like I said above in the column, keep an eye on him!
Brian, Sacramento, California
If you could resign one former nCw talent or tag team, who would you pick and why?
Trent Helms is a good friend of mine and Adam's, so if it's anybody it'd have to be him.
John Allan, from Tampa, Florida
Why does the nCw website always refuse to use an exclamation point when talking about Destructor!? It's his name, you can check his birth certificate!
NCW doesn't deal with nonsensical names. I've been around places where a wrestler insists his name is DaKkoN... how do you pronounce that? How do you pronounce "Drestructor!" do you always yell his name? No, it's "Destructor" and that's how it'll be spelled.
Tori W.; Cambridge, Mass.
Kelly! I'm so glad to hear you're going to be back for this show. It's great to see you back and with a healthy baby. Ryleigh! How cute. Anyway as for this Young Guns beef with Zelda...how childish! Picking on a young girl like that. You tell her if she needs any help, which I doubt she will, I'm sure my brother would have her back. But why do you think a bunch of grown men would try and intimidate a 19 year old? Lameasses.
Yeah it was very childish of them, but I think Zelda handled it perfectly. She didn't let it get to her and fired back with her own little shots but never got into the war of words with them. In the long run I think it caused a lot of people to view the Young Guns in a different light, however I have to say Venom was very classy in his apology... he's too good to be hanging around people threatening to break to a young girl's neck.
Frederick B.; Cleveland, Ohio
I heard that Zelda Knite has never defeated Seth Evans at any video-game, ever! Can you verify this?!
I don't think I've ever seen Zelda lose at a video game, so I can't verify that at all.
Dusty, Missourri
Why is it everyone is sticking up for Zelda that have nothing to do with her? I expected GiB or Adam or even Nelly to say something not Jacobsen. I personally think he jumped in just to try and get a National Title shot, what do you think?
I think Jacobsen showed a lot of character in how he jumped to Zelda's defense, I don't believe he had any other motive but seeing something he thought was wrong and wanted to help. It was sad to see four grown men act that way, and Jacobsen let them know, he's a good kid.
Thomas; Roanoke, VA
Kelly what is with all the hook ups happening backstage? Is it something in the water or something?
Yeah, it's a little strange isn't it? I'm guessing it's just a coincidence, but it's sweet seeing so many new couples, reminds me of me and Adam which is a good thing.
MY CLOSING THOUGHTS
It's a shame to see how some of the “Young Guns” were treating Zelda, I know I've said it a couple of times, but come on people... they were grown men, no reason to get bent out of shape for a joke. Like I said in the Kniteline, it's good to see Venom step out and say he was wrong. Well done good sir, keep that attitude up and you'll go far in this company.
The Front Office... lord, like my dad needed any more lackies to follow him around and kiss his butt?
I really thought Xavier Cross was a changed man, it's a shame he stooped to that level just to get a rematch against Charlie Velez. I hope selling your soul was worth it Xavier.
I wonder if Ayla and Cleo will kiss after their match against each other? That should make all the horn dogs in the audience happy.
Finally, I just want to let everyone know that I'll be back soon to Collision, I can't leave Willy with Hardy for too long, I like him too much to torture him like that. Thank you again Zel for the mother's day present I'm sorry it caused you some grief, and Steve honey.... I “accidently” knocked off that brand new 70 inch TV you just bought while I was “dusting” it, oops....
Until next time....
