OPENING
Hi there, all you lucky people out in NCW land, thank you again for taking time out of your busy schedules to check up on and read my humble little Knitelife column. I'm feeling good this week, still stuck at the Awesome stronghold but I'm having fun ruining stuff... by accident of course and making terrible inedible dinners, but back to some NCW news... It was another exciting week of NCW action but we're not going to get into that right now, first we're going to, as we always do, look over the poll from last's week.
You have all spoken and with a pretty solid victory you thought Venom deserved a world title shot. Venom has a lot of talent and will get his world title shot soon enough, and I think you fans made a wise choice, it's hard to deny a man of his talent level a shot at the top prize for long, and he'll likely get one very soon.
This week we've got a poll that goes along with last week's... sorta. What wrestler who has never won an NCW title will be the next person to break into some championship gold? I'm going to leave Venom off this list since he won last week and will likely just win again if I put him up there.
Think long and hard about this one folks, it should be interesting seeing who you think has what it takes to win NCW gold.
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
Oh, lord I don't know how you top what we pulled off last week, but there was excitement, and suspense and just a ton of other emotions going on through every show. I mean, just look at it like this, Suspense had the return of Lance Ryan... LANCE RYAN! Former two time world champion, the first megastar of NCW... in a redebut match. That's how stacked the cards were.
Trauma had three matches of note, Tara Fenix manages to avenge her past couple of losses to Emma Danielson with a win. She had been trying very hard recently to get one over on the Women's #1 contender and finally did so. Then we had the tag match with Tempestad and Sephiroth and those two are doing well together as a team. We ended the show with a lover's quarrel match, that really disappointed me. I expected more from these ladies, but they wrestled like they were afraid to hurt each other, this is a sport ladies... I don't care what you do in the bedroom but when you're in the ring... you go all out and that wasn't all out.
Truam was good, but where we shined this week was easily Collision. With Rob Diamond taking on the zombie, and not the good kind (Zelda's fans). I was happy to see Rob Diamond win a match for once, but I was even happier to see both Falcon pick up a victory over Doc and for Adam and his team pick up the victory of Steve and his.
Joe Everyman may have stolen the show again with his match against Jacobsen, Jacobsen got the victory but he sure did earn it as Everyman gave him the match of his life. One has to wonder though is how can Joe push Angel to the very brink one week, then lose to Jacobsen the next? Joe Everyman needs to stop playing to his opponent and come out with the intensity he did against Angel every week. Guy would be nearly unstoppable if he did that.
The show was outstanding, we have a lot of surprises and a lot of great matches. DDK was thwarted in his attempt to cash in his title shot and the fans weren't happy but that's the nature of this business... he tried taking on a Young Gun's champion and met the Young Gun's enforcer in JFK. Really there wasn't anything not to like about this show other than the fact that I had follow Steve around on a leash all night, but that wasn't the show's fault. I give this show a very good 9.5, I loved it.
PREVIEW OF THIS WEEK
Last Week's Record :: 7-4 :: I blame Everyman for this week's record. Jerk let me down again.
Overall Record :: 71-41 :: Stupid Everyman.... but hey, 30 up baby. Not bad.
Upset of the Week Record :: 5-5 :: I'm back at .500! Thanks to three straight weeks of correct predictions. Now that's what I'm talking about.
Trauma
Singles Match: X Division Qualifier
Shawn Styles vs Destructor!
Shawn Styles lost last week in the elemination match, however after seeing how upset and fired he up he was to avenge that loss, you have to think he's going to be very prepared for this.
Xtreme Rules
Sephiroth Du Lac vs Gabriel Karras
*Special Guest Referee: Tempestad
I don't know who Tempestad is going to side with, but Du Lac is a great wrestler and I have to side with him here.
Singles Match: X Division Qualifier
Joe Everyman vs Evil Freakke
I'm never voting for Joe Everyman again.
Main Event: Mixed Tag Team Match
Andrew Jacobsen and Emma Danielson vs JFK and Zelda Knite
And along those lines.... I don't vote against Zelda. This week however, she does have a great partner in JFK despite the fact JFK's group has been talking about killing her. AJ and Emma should have their hands full.
Collision
Handicap Match
Ayla St. James vs Joanne Canelli and Maria Williams
*Special Guest Referee; Cleopatra (By Order of Drake Tyson)
With Cleo as the referee I don't think the odds are stacked against Ayla, and Maria Williams is more likely to break a nail than to be an actual threat in this match.
Tag Team Match
Philip Burns and Mike Honcho vs Rob Diamond and Seth Evans
I hate voting against Honcho and Burns but I have to.... Diamond and Evans will make a good team this week.
!!!UPSET OF THE WEEK!!!
Singles Match: X Division Qualifier
Stefan Ranzy vs Nathan Doe
I hate to vote against the man formerly known as Lance Ryan but I just think Nathan Doe is going to do good things in this company and it starts here as my upset of the week.
Tag Team Match
Falcon and Will Washington vs Ron Gibson and DDK
They used to be known as Dirty Deal.. now they've both lost their minds and I have no idea what they're thinking... so I can't vote for them. Falcon and Will Washington (American Eagle? Make it happen guys.) win this one.
Singles Match
Angel vs Brad Kane
Angel never loses tot he same opponent twice and he really... really wants to beat Brad Kane.
Non Title Champion vs Champion Match
Alex Jones vs Doc
I probably could of labeled this my upset of the week... but Doe topping Lance Ryan is bigger. Just call this a hunch.
Main Event: Tag Team Match
Steve Awesome and Adam Knite vs Charlie Velez and Venom
I hate to vote for Steve now... but I love voting for Adam... so I guess it's all ok. If you think Adam has any hard feelings about what Velez and Venom said to his sister... think again, Adam knows this business and he knows Z can handle herself.
Well there you have it. I've been hitting a lot of 7-4 or around there lately with my predictions, this week I want to hit at least 8 and I really really want to get to 9. I hope it happens, so you wrestlers in the back.. don't let me down ok?
THE FAB FIVE
5. Stefan Rzany :: Lance Ryan has been gone for a while and to come back and just not miss a beat at all was great for the fans to see, even if it is under a new name.
4. Tara Fenix :: She picked up a much needed win over Emma Danielson... finally. She looked good doing it too.
3. Destructor :: Give the kid his props, he survived that elimination match.. he won that elimination match.
2. Zelda Knite :: In a match that was highlighted by featuring all four men in the Reborn main event, it was Zelda who stole the spotlight by getting the pin on Freya.
1. Falcon :: Not only did he beat the current Xtreme champion, more impressively.. he beat Doc, people were beginning to wonder if anybody could do that.
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
First off... Collision's main event, will **i*head and Adam want to coexist long enough to win the match, or will they just want to beat the hell out of each other? I don't know, well I kind of do... Adam will probably try to win until Steve does something to annoy him, then it'll be no holds barred, so keep on eye on that. Also, they'll be taking on a very good team in Venom and Velez, so if they aren't on the same page... they'll lose... fast.
Lance Ryan, or Stefan Rzany as he's been requested to be called... do I even have to say why to keep an eye on him? I picked him to get upset, but still... it's the first ever World champion in action here. Watch it!
Ayla St. James in handicapped action, can she overcome those two ladies? She has the bonus of having Cleo as the referee but will that be enough? You should tune in to see that I'm telling you.
Finally, Seth Evan and Rob Diamond teaming up... about a year ago they almost killed each other in a bloody fued, it should be fun seeing them on the same team here soon.
THE KNITELINE
Laura Stevens, Tampa Florida
Mrs. Knite, can you please tell my son Luke (or as you people know him, Destructor!) to get home immediately! His mother is worried sick, and fears for his well being!
If I ever had anything to do with him I'd be sure to let him know, but a fifteen year old kid in a mask just isn't the type of people a rich married woman hangs out with...**looks at Zelda**..... ok, I'll tell him. **sigh**
Craig Jacobs; Ames, Iowa
What can someone do in order to get back into the wrestling business after a torn ACL. I've been looking all over the place and was wondering if nCw had like a developmental system. Thanks either way!
Just rehab and do everything your doctor says, don't rush it otherwise you'll just get hurt again. NCW doesn't have any farm system at the moment, sorry.
Mark Evil - Glendale, Arizona
Why do you hate Joe Everyman so much?
When I pick him to win, he loses, and whenever I put my faith in him... he loses. I hate that. I want to see him succeed but he always breaks my heart. Rooting for him is like being a Lions fan.
Robert Olson; Biloxi, Mississippi
'ey Kelly, two-parter here. Firstly, I got to thinkin'. You guys got a lot of titles. Ever consider unifyin' two of them? Say, f'r example, foldin' the X-Division into the National or the Xtreme into the X-Division?
Second, who d'you think is the most liked person on the roster short of Zelda Knite and why? Always wondered 'bout that one...
No we've never considered merging some titles, with a roster the size of ours we think that is the right amount. However there have been talks about wanting to bring back the Honor title somehow... maybe keep an eye on that? Secondly, I'd have to think Falcon would be right up there with Zelda, the fans eat that guy up.
Charlie S. Somewhere in PA
nCw is starting to look like a madhouse. It seems a chunk of the roster just up and went mad. Do you think upper management will start pulling guys like Freakke and DDK if they start getting out of hand? If not, where will they draw the line?
You know, my dad might if he starts to think they're becoming too much of a nuisance. However, I've not heard him talk about that at all, so I wouldn't expect to see it happen any time soon.
Yancy Voorhees; Camp Crystal Lake's Sister Camp, Camp New Fun
Hey Kelly. Long time viewer, first time caller. Your father recently declared Steve Awesome the 'Face of the Franchise', basically declaring him 'the guy' in nCw. Steve has been acting crazy these past few months, and I don't think he's a good representative of the company. Unlike my brother Jason, I'm a man of the people, and I don't want him being the face of the company. So if your choice of anybody from the roster to be the face, who would it be?
Well first off, I'm not going to say Adam or Zelda... because that would be completely bias on my part and you don't want that cop out answer. I'm going to throw a surprise name out here.... Andrew Jacobsen. He's exactly the type of wrestler NCW needs headlining shows.
John Smith...and certainly not Obsidian; Wherever the DDK Mobile is at the moment. I think it's a McDonald's parking lot. Yeah, yeah, it definitely is.
Hey Kelly, you're awesome, but married with kids. I'm not looking for that. I'm looking for a fine young thing that I can start a life with. Someone really pretty, like a Zelda Knite. She's so beautiful. How do I hook up with Zelda Knite? I mean...someone like Zelda Knite? Yeah...that's it...
First.. I'm married with “kid” I only have one John, Ryleigh. You know, I have no idea what kind of guy Zelda is in to, I know you have to like video games and be willing to get stomped at them by her.. other than that I think she just likes nice guys she's been hanging around Nelly and Falcon two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, so who knows.
Steve Awesome; Detroit, MI.
I know things are a bit different right now....but I promise I'll make it up to you. I promise. Starting this week.
Love ya.
Shut up. You can make it up to me by letting me go home to Adam.
Jason Lee Ray, Orlando, Florida
Kelly, have you ever noticed the large amount of bible thumpers in NCW? I mean guys like Karras and Tempestad seem to always spout something scriptural each week. My question is how does the company as a whole view their religious stance? Does NCW endorse a pro-christian agenda or is it all just for show?
umm... didn't we just have Alister Black on the roster who wrote poems to Satan and don't we have guys like Will Washington who openly claims his atheism? See this is the thing about “free speech”.. it works both ways, you don't just get to hear what you like and not the other side. If somebody who has open views against Christianity wants to say something... oh it's just fine... free speech right? Whenever somebody who does have religious views speaks their mind... they're “bible thumpers” and “preaching” right? Word of advice Jason, bias works both ways. NCW will always be open to different religious views and different ways of life without discrimination, that means we won't shun people away for being christians either, see how that works?
MY CLOSING THOUGHTS
I'm glad to see Stefan Rzany here, he may be under a different name, but he'll always be Lance Ryan to me, NCW wouldn't be here without him.
I'm sick of being Steve's slave.... really I don't know how much more I can take.
What has gotten into Tommy Victor? The man it seems has gone completely batty.. he picks a fight with Doc and the Young Guns, then after he gets beat up by them he attacks the man who saved him from an even worse beating. The guy is a lunatic I tell you.
The fans really wanted to see DDK cash that title shot in, too bad JFK ruined it for them. It was an interesting choice for DDK and one has to wonder if he'll keep at it or will he set his sights on a different title now? What I do know is that he wasn't happy about JFK ruining his night, he wants some revenge.
The video of Shawn Styles raging backstage at Trauma already has 100,000 youtube views. The man made a spectacle of himself and I hear my dad isn't happy about it. The kid has a ton of talent, but he better watch that temper. Should be an interesting match on Trauma, no doubt about it.
Finally, I just want to thank everybody who has been reading this column and have been giving me good feedback, words of advice and writing/calling into the Kniteline. I wouldn't of been able to stick with it this time if it wasn't for all of your support, so a big thank you.
Until next time.....
