The scene on a park bench near dusk. It's still light enough outside to see, but dark enough to be afraid. Tommy leans over the bench wiping a mark off of his untied boot.
Suspense. Some people think of Hitchcock, I think of the wrestling program and what it has done for my career. It was not 8 months ago we came in looking to shift the company in our direction, and in those humble beginnings it all exploded on Suspense. Tag team win after tag team win for New Disease. Eventually we raided the program of it's variety and the show became about us, so it left nCw officals no choice but to bump us up to Trauma.
At least that's how I remember it.
And now this week the whole operation will shut it's doors. One final episode remains to show the world what Suspense was all about at it's peak. This is the big bang, the end of an era. From this show an influx of new talent will emerge onto mainstream television and invade your living room.
So, you ask, why is a top-level superstar like Tommy V on the card?
Tommy looks up at the stars coming out. Pretty aren't they? Simple and glowing, but long dead.
Star power. Abilty. Talent. Controversy.
If this show is going to go out in a blaze of glory you need the Xtreme Champion, and one of the men who turned this show inside out to help round out the final card. I'm here this Friday Night to send Suspense away with a memorable final show, and hell why shouldn't I do that? The reason I started was for moments like this. Now I'm into a little bit harder stuff like winning titles and crippling people, but never forget your roots. I'm lacing my boots up already for Friday Night Suspense. This is the finale you've all be waiting for; Heroes didn't deliver, Lost didn't deliver, but Tommy V will be the guy to send the fans home happy.
Tommy looks looks down at his boot to finish lacing it. He looks deep in thought about his match Friday. His finale in the history of Suspense.
Tempestad, I don't need to research your xtreme matches to see how hardcore you can be. Any man can grab a trash can and start swinging. No matter what you've done or how you've done it, I won't be impressed. Listen to me here, I don't know what all this hardcore stuff is or what it really means, but when people describe me they don't throw words around like "xtreme" and "hardcore". Brutal, relentless, digusting...I wear these names like bad tattoos or battle scars. I've earned everyone of them.
But yeah, I guess you could say I know a little bit about xtreme if you want to classify it like that. Afterall, the last guy who held this is currently pissing blood in Room 14. But the thing about that is I don't need weapons to do that to somebody. Take a look at Nathan Doe's skull sometime. You'll be able to make out the dent from the concrete floor if you really feel around a little bit.
Tommy thinks for second and cracks his neck, possibly trying to work out a kink or get rid of some of the stress. He is subtly angry.
Anyways, no Tempestad I guess I've never faced a true luchadore like yourself, but again I can't say because I don't really know what that is. You fly around the ring, jump off the ropes right? Is that it? I guess I've been up against guys like that before. All of them are pretty screwed when there legs are taken out and they have no choice but to face me like a man....you remind me of my father. He was in the Air Force. I always thought of him as a coward for dropping bombs on unexpected people. If you're going to fight, then do it like a man. Stand toe to toe and look your opponent in the eyes don't sneak attack from a distance. I don't know why he choose that as his career...probably for the same reason as your luchadore style. You weren't man enough to try anything else.
Tommy walks through the park thinking of past matches and past weeks of his life. Winning the Xtreme Title is truly a highlight in a life of losing he thinks to himself. Being told he got a fluke win upsets him in hindsight of his opponents promo.
Let me help you get straight here. When you throw around the word fluke you better know what you're talking about. For weeks I went after Doc relentlessly. I ruined title matches, traded beatdowns with him, and even kidnapped his girlfriend to get a title shot. After all the talk was done, and I said that I was going to win and break him in half, he is now in a hospital bed and I have his title. How is that a fluke? What part of that match was a fluke? Was it the part where I beat him down so badly he couldn't stand without assistance? Or the finish when I put him out of his misery through a table with onto concrete?
Please, spare me your fluke talk. You don't have any clue about who I am. There are flukes when it comes to a Tommy V match. I either beat my opponent to a bloody mess or I leave even angrier than I came in. Either way someones in trouble come the next show, and you should know that by now being the next target of my frustrations.
Another mistake you're making is thinking that I thrive off of fear. Doc didn't fear me and I took him out. Nathan didn't fear me and I ran him out. Freakke didn't fear me and I knocked him out.
He shakes his head in disgust at the world around him, especially his opponent for the finale of Suspense.
I'm not sure you're getting this. I don't care if you have the biggest set of balls in the world between your legs, I'll bloody you just the same. Intimidation is not my primary mechanism or whatever big words you said there. My primary mechanism in the ring is my bare hands. Two fists. I don't go too deep into the psychology of all this **** like you do. I don't think my way through a match like you do. When I get between the ropes I beat the ever-loving **** out of my opponent. If you have time go right ahead and look that strategy up in the Encyclopedia.
But let's really look at this. From all that psychoanalyst you've done you have came up with the theory that you're a solider and a survivalist? What a deep description of yourself. You know, Doc thought that to. Keep your hollow words to yourself. The only thing you're doing is trying to convince yourself. Nobody else is buying it in the arenas, at home, or across the ring from you. It's all just cheap talk from a guy who thinks far too highly of himself and his abilities. You call me inadequate, but where's your belt? Your waist is empty just like your words.
Another thing that pissed Tommy V off was the talk of struggle. Of not being able to understand his opponents struggle. Maybe Tempestad hasn't been paying attention? That's the only explanation.
Are you SERIOUS? Do you even know who I am? My life these past 6 months has collapsed. I'm fighting to get everything back that has been taken away from me. My selfish bitch of a wife robbed me of my children. She tells them I'm dead. My best friend left me to die....
Yeah, I know how much dedication it takes to fight for what you believe is right. I've done it all my life, but recently it came out to be a pointless battle because it's gotten me nowhere. I learned that when I fought to keep Nathan straight and I found myself far far away from home. Until I realized that I was at the bottom of the ****ing barrell fighting for table scraps. Know your struggle? Keep your sap story just like you said you would. I AM YOUR STRUGGLE! I've been beaten near death, destroyed, and mocked endlessly to get to this point. You know how many puns I have to hear about my last name working in a business like this? Especially when you lose? Hell, last week when I beat Freakke one of the announcers had the balls to make that pun, and he's lucky I don't book him a bed near Doc.
One more thing Tommy thinks as he leaves the park into the street. Cars wiz by so fast. It would be easy to just jump. Not for Tommy. He's got so much work left to do in this world.
Don't worry about kidnapping. I did what I had to do to get my title shot. You're not worth the effort of a crime like that. You have nothing I want, and I already have a match with you. Anything I want to take from you be it your ability to walk or speak, I can do with my bare hands. I don't need to threaten you into breaking your own legs. Doc just needed a little encouragement to give me what I wanted: the Xtreme Title, which I proudly wear around my waist.
I just want you to know one last thing: I have nothing against you either. I had nothing against Doc. Let that sink in. The only person I hold a grudge against is long gone from nCw...
This is the eye of the storm.
It's what men in stained raincoats pay for but in here it is pure.
Yeah. This is the end of the line.
I've seen the storyline played out so many times before.
Oh that goes in there.
Then that goes in there.
Then that goes in there.
Then that goes in there. & then it's over. Oh, what a hell of a show
but what I want to know:
what exactly do you do for an encore? 'Cos this is Hardcore.
