What a shame, what a shame,
To judge a life that you can't change
The choir sings, the church bells ring
So, won't you give this man his wings?
What a shame to have to beg you to
See we're not all the same
What a shame
To judge a life that you can't change
The choir sings, the church bells ring
So, won't you give this man his wings?
What a shame to have to beg you to
See we're not all the same
What a shame
Are you for real, man? Did you really just say out loud, to the great fans of nCw that we aren't suppost to tell stories? All of us compete in the ring as hard as we can. We all fight out hearts out week in and week out. But we also show people that we are not just muscle bound f*cktards who only want to see who is stronger than the other. There is not a single man, woman or child in nCw who doesn't have a story to tell...well, except for you apparently. Is that all you're here for? Is just to wrestle? We are all here because this is what we love to do. Not just to wrestle, but to let people into our lives. If we didn't want people into our lives, we wouldn't allow the nCw camera crews to follow us around. We all have a story to tell, but I think I can some up yours well enough.
You don't let us into your life, because you clearly don't have one. It doesn't seem like you have a wife. And therefore, you clearly don't have children. Do you have any friends besides you lover, Gene? If you did, maybe you'd bring them into our little show we put on. Do you have a past at all? If you did, maybe it would be a good thing to bring up too. We use our pasts as a reflection. We use it as a base. We use it to show people what we are capable of. I talk about my past, because it is still important to me. I'm not someone who will give up on past accomplishments just because they don't seem relevant. Sure, I get shot at because of it, but I don't care. We all have a past. All you have said about yours is that you love wrestling, and you love this company. But do you really? You have been here, what, three weeks? Maybe you can talk as big as you'd like to be when you have won something big. I have buried Hall of Famers. What have you done?
I am a former three time nCw National Champion. Count those. One...two...THREE. What have you done?! I have defeated the greats. I have destroyed legacies. I have brought down Icons. I put Lance Ryan in his place, again. And yet, you stand here talking to me like I'm nothing. Like I am just some other guy who you'll stomp all over. Do you know what happened to the last guy who said that to me? He went crazy and started calling himself Stefan. But, if you want me to be physical, fine. You'll get your wish. I am a former nCw Xtreme Champion. I am the final ever VXW Xtreme Champion. I defeated two of the best hardcore wrestlers in that company to win the title. I had to fight through blood, tears and pain to win. I have fought in the Coliseum match. I have fought in TWO No Limits Ladder Matches. I took Angel to the limit in what everyone is saying is the early candidate for match of the year. So please tell me...what the f*ck have you done that even gets close to these accolades?
And I swear to God, if you call this company, this industry or my life a soap opera again, they are going to have to arrest me for attempted f*cking murder! I have a life outside of nCw. I have a life inside of nCw too. But for me, they are very much the same. It really is a shame that you can't see your own thick head to see this. Everyone in nCw is here to tell a story. Look at the best and the brightest in this company. All of them have brought their own lives into it. All of us strive off of it. It gives us a real life feeling to a business that can separate us from our loved ones. So we bring these things into our wrestling lives. It drives us forward. But, if you want to just have physicality and have NO human emotion at all in your promos and fights, that's fine. But just remember, that without emotion, we are nothing. Without joy, without fear, without love, without hate, we are nothing.
Just think deep down inside yourself...what really makes you human?
The scene fades into where it left off. Joe is still sitting on his bed, with a look of disbelief on his face. The young girl is now sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at Joe, with a big smile across her face. Joe raises his arm slowly, as if to touch her arm. He retracts it before his fingertips touch the girl's arm, not wanting to know if it's real or not.
Joe Everyman: Wh...wha...what are you?
The girl just keep smiling.
Joe Everyman: Who...are you?
The girl smile gets a little brighter, as her eyes catch what little light there is in the room. She keep looking at Joe, still smiling the whole time.
Joe Everyman: I...I know that smile. I know those eyes...Aurora?
Aurora: Yes dad...it's me.
Joe Everyman: It couldn't be. You're asleep in the other room...and you're barely even one year old. How are you here?
Aurora: I am here, to show you what Christmas would be like if you continue on this path.
Joe's eyes get big as Aurora starts giggling. She keep smiling, knowing she just got her father on a good one.
Aurora: Lighten up, dad. I am here to help you.
Joe Everyman: But, how can you help me if you're not really here?
Aurora: Because...all I am is your conscience, in a more physical form. Tell me, dad...what are you most afraid of.
Joe Everyman: Failure.
Aurora lowers her head and shacks it from side to side.
Aurora: Think deeper.
Joe looks down at the bed, getting deeper into his thoughts. After a few moments, he finally raises his head up and looks at Aurora again.
Joe Everyman: To be a failure...at being a father.
Aurora: That's it.
Joe Everyman: But so much more is getting at me than that. How could that possibly be it?
Aurora: Because deep down, you don't want to be like your own father. Your dad was only ever accepting of your brothers. He was only ever accepting of their awards and skills. He always looked down at you. He never accepted your career path. He never wanted you to do what you wanted to do. He wanted to craft you after himself, like he had done with your brothers. And because of this, he became a cynic. He became hateful, he became abusive and he became distant. Deep down, that is what you're afraid of most. Being a failure to me. But remember, I will love you no matter what. You are my dad after all. Mom and everyone else wants you to do good. Your dad is just a critic like everyone else. If you put him behind you, just like you have tried to do with all of your other non-believers, you will be able to be successful, and be able to accomplish anything you want to. Just don't let them get to you. Do it, not only for yourself, but do it for mom. Do it for me.
Joe finally smiles, realizing what his daughter was doing here.
Joe Everyman: I get it now. You're barely even one year old, and you're wiser than I will ever be. Conscience or not, I know you're going to grow up into a perfect person. Thank you Aurora.
The girl just smiles and nods at his dad. Joe then turns over and lays back down and closes his eyes. Aurora stands up and puts her ghostly hand on Joe's shoulder.
Aurora: Don't worry dad, I'll be here to watch over you from now on. If you ever need help, just call upon me.
She then leans down and gives Joe a kiss on the forehead and slowly begins to fade out into nothingness. The scene then begins to fade to a close.
