OPENING
The time is finally here in two days NCW officially becomes three years old, my... how the times has just flown by. Sometimes it's hard to believe NCW has gone through so much, hard to believe how much we've been through together. No matter who, or what has tried to stop us, we just kept going. We've had companies break away... several times, and we've outlasted them... several times. We've had imitators arise and we knocked them out of our way, we've even had blatant ripoffs who tried to capitalize on our name, yet each and every time we prevailed.
Without you fans, there is no way we could of come this far, without your support and loyalty it would be impossible to have brought this company to this point. I've had the pleasure of being here since day one when me and Hardy opened up the very first Collision broadcast. Since then NCW has put on over 270 other shows. From Collision to Suspense, to Trauma and all of our exciting pay per views and this doesn't even include the countless number of WebShows we've given you.
New Championship Wrestling started after the closing of the WCF when Davey Boone and Jimmy Rollins wanted a federation to be a part of and begged my father to use his capital to bring back the nCw name. To tell you the truth, my father didn't even want to start nCw up again after so many other failed attempts, after Boone and Rollins had tried so many times before, it was doomed to fail he thought... just like it always had. He didn't want to see a company that he once loved so much be reduced to such a joke. After a lot of begging though, he finally gave in.
Things have changed a lot over these past three years. After a dispute over the Hall of Fame, my father broke away from the company he once loved and set out to make his own legacy for nCw and I think it's safe to say he did that. Despite what people said, despite the fact he had wrestlers tell him NCW wouldn't never last more than two months, he kept with it and you all stuck behind him. That's why every year we throw this huge celebration, to give back, to show the appreciation we have for all of you, without which this dream would have been impossible and NCW would of faded in obscurity a long time ago.
So, thank you NCW fans, thank you for making all of this possible.
With the incredible-ness that is the 3 Year Celebration of this fine company, I'm going to be doing parts of this Knitelife column a bit differently. First as you can see from that long introduction above this, there is a long introduction. Secondly when it comes to previewing the matches for the show, I'm going to try and give a little insight into what makes each match so great. I will not be making predictions this week as it would be almost impossible to with so many one time deals going on this week, sorry about that.
Anyway, last week the poll was over who you wanted to see on this show and I have to say my dad and the rest of the NCW staff did a great job here not only getting all three of your top vote getters to appear on the show but grabbing a few surprises that I left off the voting as well. Congratulations to The Brothers Holland, Gib, and Spike Kane for coming in 1,2,3 in that poll and goodluck to all three of you in your respective matches this week. I know I can speak for everybody when I say, we're really looking forward to having all three of you wrestle on this show.
This week, in honor of the 3 year celebration, that commemorates NCW's past, we're going to see what NCW pay per view, you think is the best one. Over the past three years, which show, to you, meant the most? I should be a good little fact that we can pull out some time and try and make that show extra special when it comes around.
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
We had some great shows this past week, we saw a few upsets, we saw a few surprises but overall we just had a couple of solid shows that came off well. I was very excited about a lot of the matches coming into the week and overall I wasn't disappointed by them as a whole and I hope you weren't either.
Trauma kicked off with the true upset of the week as Tara Fenix fell to the piece of trash big mouth Ashlie Ember. There weren't many who gave her a chance going into this match, me included but hey, you gotta admire somebody who goes out and gets the job done when she has to. That set the tone for Trauma really as we had two fine matches following, most notable was Rob Diamond's great victory over Brad Kane in a match where when you think “main event”, you think of a match like that. They both fought hard, they both fought fair and it was just that Rob Diamond came out on top this time, wouldn't mind seeing that match up again. However, the match of that evening was clearly the four way bout, those four men gave it their all and I hear Alex Jones is still a bit peeved, feeling that he had the match won if the referee wouldn't of slid over to count the pin Rzany had on Joe Ragnal so soon. Sorry Alex... but you have to count a pin immediately, that's how it works.
With Collision, I think we definitely saw some of that Trauma awesome come over as we had some just fantastic showings. In what has to be considered the surprise of Collision was the Ringmasters defeating the Young Guns, Doc and Venom. Sephiroth and Freakke might be a combo that you don't want to mess with in the future, but I think the Young Guns will rebound just fine, they're a good team. Joe Everyman continues this rising from the ashes act he's got going on and it seems to be going great for him as he picked up a huge win against the current #1 contender and pretend world champion DDK. Philip Burns got a huge victory and a 1964 El Camino for defeating Ron Gibson, the Webshow was fantastic, and we even had Falcon defeating Steve Awesome in our main event. Collision was fantastic indeed, it was one of those shows that just comes out and produces what it promised. However it did get its share of surprises in, with Rob Diamond seemingly joining forces with his arch rival, Falcon and the Revolution. So who knows what's going on there.
Overall, the shows were good, they were enjoyable and that's pretty much all you can ask for out of something like that. Great NCW action.
PREVIEW OF THIS WEEK
Like I said, I'm not giving out predictions, but I'll go ahead and give the results of last week then I will continue my awesome prediction prowess for you all following this show.
LAST WEEK'S RECORD:: 8-6 :: I was doing great until I hit a string of bad choices. Still more rights than wrongs though.
OVERALL RECORD:: 136-84 :: That's still pretty good, and I did up it, so that can't be too bad right?
UPSET OF THE WEEK RECORD:: 7-12 :: You know... five in a row, really hurts.
Tag Team Grudge Match
MCM vs. NAZI
- It wasn't long ago that NAZI surprised the world and in a loser leaves town match, the painted up freaks were able to give the Motor City Mafia their pink slips. This to me is one of the most interesting match ups on the show. We obviously all know what the MCM was able to do once they got their jobs back, winning the tag titles and pretty much putting that loss behind them, however I can tell you that it still stings them and this is why this match was created. It should be a great chance and finally getting some retribution against NAZI.
Honor Championship:
Honor Rules Match
Xavier Williams* vs. Stefan Rzany
- Of the two title matches that were planned for this weekend, this is the one that made it to Collision. Rzany won his shot at the Wired show before Picture Perfect if you remember correctly and now these two former World champions will get a chance to square off against each other for this Honor title. Xavier Williams and Lance Ryan were in the original Age of the Revolution together, so this match has some history there and should be a great match up between two of NCW's best.
Xtreme Match
Spike Kane vs Joe Everyman
-Spike and Joe have a long history of matches against each other. They've always seemed to meet up whenever Joe wants to try and make that next step. Spike was the hand picked target of Joe Everyman when he was dubbed the future of the Revolution when they formed at Road to the Gold II, and many times before and after it has always been Spike versus Joe Everyman. A battle between a man who embraces his “God of Xtreme” persona and a man who claims to represent he common man, these two's paths are going to cross again in this Xtreme match. To me it's going to be right up there with any match in NCW history.
Cell Match
Gib vs Bates
- These two have practically killed each other on several occasions, including last year's 2 Year show. When people think about what NCW's Xtreme championship means, it's hard to think of two other men than Gib and Bates. This match was created because the fans have made it clear this is what they wanted, to see Gib and Bates beat each other into bloody messes. This time they're going to face off in a cell a match, that I promise you will be nothing but none stop action. This could be the match of the show right here.
Legendary Tag Team Match
The Brothers Holland vs. Dirty Deal
- There have only been two teams that have won the NCW tag team titles twice, the Brothers Holland are in the NCW Hall of Fame and a safe bet would be to say that Dirty Deal is on their way there in time. Following with last years tradition we've put together a dream tag team match up where The Hollands will take on Dirty Deal despite Kanyon's and Gibson's recent falling out. This match will be amazing, you will not want to miss it, but then again.. how often do you want to miss a “dream match”?
Rematch of the first ever Collision Main Event
Punisher vs Reckless Jack
- The first ever Collision.. it was billed as Logan versus Reckless Jack, but sadly Logan retired before the show could take place. We had to find a replacement wrestler to take on Reckless Jack and what better way to do that, than to bring back an “nCw Legend” and have Reckless Jack take him on, on the first show. The surprise replacement ended up being Punisher who came out to a huge ovation and made quick work of Jack. The rest is how you say history, and I have to think that this mtach has really stuck in Kane's side for a long time. He can finally get his retribution after all these years here, and I know there are a lot of people hoping he gets his closure here in this match.
World Champion vs. World Champion
Lance Ryan vs. Zelda Knite
- Will this match happen? Will Lance accept the challenge? We don't know, Zelda made this match herself after begging Lance to face her the past week, now it's all up to him to make it happen. NCW has two world titles and there are two names associated with each one... Lance Ryan the first ever NCW World Champion and Zelda Knite the first ever(and only) Women's World Champion. This match is being touted as a “best of the best” dream match and I've gotta say I think it'd be amazing.
Main Event:
ShowCase Match
Adam Knite vs. Steve Awesome. vs Angel vs. Falcon vs. Philip Burns vs. Will Washington
Five world champions, Road to the Gold winner, two Gladiators, RIOT winner, 6 world championships, 3 National championships, 2 Xtreme championships and 11 tag team championships and one hell of a match between six of the best that NCW has ever seen. This is a match that was made just to captivate the audience, just to see just how many stars NCW could fit into one ring and have them rip each other apart and the gimmick? It's in NCW's signature match... the “ShowCase”. This match is for the fans, this match is all about them and these six men know it. Everything is being thrown out the window here as they all just look to give you a show. So sit back and enjoy this ride.
Well there you have it, a rundown of every match on the 3 Year Collision show. Again I'm sorry I made no predictions... but I can't. I just can't, it'd be a crap shoot anyway and we don't want that. This show along with the great matches we have on Trauma looks to be amazing, and I really hope all NCW fans young and old can join us on this celebration. It'll be a night that will be stuck in our memories for a long time, that I can promise you.
THE FAB FIVE
5. Seph and Freakke :: Great show for these two. Their first match together and the Ringmasters came out victorious over the tough Young Guns.
4. Ashlie Ember :: I should probably put her up further on this list, based on the fact she beat Tara Fenix... but I hate her.
3. Joe Everyman :: He continues to win, and this week he came up with a victory over the supposed World Champion. Not bad Joe.
2. Falcon :: He beat Steve Awesome... enough said.
1. Rob Diamond :: Really tempted to leave him off, but I've buried that hatchet and it was a great win for him.
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
The whole weekend.
What? You want more? Fine.
1.You may think Trauma is being overshadowed? Oh no... a Mini-Riot for a world title shot. An X-Divison 2 falls Three Way match and the Xtreme champion taking on the National champion? Keep your eyes on Trauma folks, this may be the best one yet and there is no lying there, the card is stacked.
2.Spike Kane and Lance Ryan, the first two NCW world champions on this show, I don't know.. maybe you'll want to keep an eye on those two? I would.
3.Finally, make sure to keep a good long eye on The Brothers Holland it's been a long time since they entered an NCW ring and it's a tough task right off the bat. Can they keep up with Dirty Deal? I think they can.
THE KNITELINE
Stefan Ryan; The Space Between
Kelly, what the hell is going on with Stefan Rzany/Lance Ryan? I mean, his family turned on him because he seemingly went crazy but it seems that every week he claims to be or not to be the same person. Do you have any insight on what is actually going on here?
-Did you just ask me a question about yourself while speaking in third person? But I have no idea.. I think they're the same person, but I don't know for sure.
Jose, Rosarita, Mexico
Last month both the AJ/Angel and Falcon/Diamond fueds were fueled by hatred and turned into two of the best matches on the show. When you look foreword do you see any other rivalries, minus Adam/Awesome and Falcon/Diamonds ongoing fueds, that could turn into a show stealing blood bath?
-I'm thinking this Tempestad and Sephiroth Du Lac thing could get even more heated if you can believe that. I also think this Charlie Velez versus Brad kane thing has potential.
Paul, from Liverpool, England
Hey there Kelly! Excluding the World Champion, which current champion do you see eventually winning the World Championship here in nCw? Also, what's with the lack of tag teams here in nCw?
-I could see Charlie Velez winning the world title some day, and I could totally see Sephiroth Du Lac carrying it around eventually as well. As far as tag teams, I thought we actually had quite a few at the moment.
Dave T. Z. K-Town, PA
Yo Kelly, Which title do you think will be most contested over in the month or two ahead?
-Going to say the the National title, Velez is bringing back a lot of prestige to that championship with his knocking off all challengers in his way.
William Cobbler, Pheonix, AZ
There seems to be a lot of hubbub about the Front Office. It seems either you love them or hate them. What do you think of them?
-Umm.. if you don't know what I think of them, you've been living under a rock my friend.
Philip, New York City
Kelly, I'm not sure if you ever watch the show, but I know your husband does. So, if you could have any Futurama character join into nCw, who would it be and why?
-Gotta go with "The Gender Bender"... oh wait... Seth Evans is already on the roster... ok, We'll have to go with Leela, a cylopsed monster beating up jerks = ratings
Scott, Edinburgh
Hi Kelly! I've been really dismayed at what has happened to my favourite superstar, Doc, recently. It seems like since he has joined the Young Guns, he has become inconsistent and unreliable, two traits I would never have associated with "The Boyhood Dream" at his prime. What do you think is the cause of this? In an interview in this morning's newspaper over the UK, Doc is telling us all that he will once again raise his game when people least expect him to win, and earn a shot at the World Title this week. I really want to believe he can do it, and we all know Doc is a big match wrestler, but do you think he has just lost his edge to get the job done?
-If anybody can turn it around it'll be Doc. It seems he has some personal issues at the moment, but he can work through those and if he does, then he can be very successful again here in NCW. He's just hit a rough patch.
MY CLOSING THOUGHTS
Don't back down Lance.. accept the challenge.
That ShowCase match is going to be ridiculous.
Ashlie picked up a victory in her home town, got a lot of cheers for it, I wonder if she can keep it up when not motivated by impressing the hometown crowd?
Falcon beating Steve was great, Rob Diamond helping the Revolution was just as good.. but damn Steve for turning down the match idea.
Rumor is, Burns immediately gave Gibson's car to a homeless man after the show.
This three year anniversary is going to be amazing guys. I'm looking forward to seeing all the action and I'm doubly looking forward to putting some smiles on your faces with it. I'll be at ringside and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I just want to thank everybody again... for being here for NCW, being a part of this. You have all made this job worth doing and your support is what keeps this company going.
Until next time
--Kelly Knite
