OPENING
Wow... what an incredible show, that's all I can say about that. Wow... sorry, I had to be said again. First off, let me start by saying thank you to everybody who made that show so amazing. From the wrestlers who worked their butts off, to the fans who were on their feet the entire night. It was a show that all came together because of the love and dedication everybody involved put into it. There was action like you wouldn't believe, there was the huge surprise in the Hall of Fame inductions to kick off the show, there was nothing to “not like” about this show. It was a show where grudges and feuds were thrown out the window and everybody in NCW came together as a family. Now we start off NCW's fourth year in style.
This week though, everything goes back to normal. Get ready to see NCW wrestlers ready to tear each other's heads off, get ready to see Steve and Adam ready to break each other's necks, get ready for the start of another year of NCW greatness. I'm really looking forward to it and I hope all of you are as well, so sit back and enjoy the show.
So the poll.. last week to tie into the celebration of NCW history I asked you fans what Pay Per View as your favorite and I must say I was totally thrown back by the results. Overwhelmingly you chose A Night to Remember, or more aptly named A KNITE to Remember -hee,hee- but I went into the poll thinking Road to the Gold was probably going to take most of the votes, maybe even Sovereign... boy was a shocked when I saw ANTR dominate it like that. I guess it's just because I've always been disappointed with the ANTR shows in some fashion, maybe since it's supposed to be one of NCW's big shows I hold it to a higher standard, but I guess it's good that you fans recognize it and apparently think of it in a higher regard than I do.
Now this week, we're going with the pretty standard poll that you all love, which match from that amazing 3 Year Show did you think was the absolute best? Which match just really blew you away from the competitiveness, or the story behind it, or from just how much emotion each wrestler showed during it. What was the match that you just thought was the highlight of the show.
Have fun with the poll and again here's to another three years.
REVIEW OF THE WEEK
There is nothing I can say about this show, why? Because words can't properly describe the emotions that went into making this show. There were plenty of teary eyes backstage there were even more inside those rings. Like I said about, the love and dedication was flowing strong last night, you could since it. With NCW greats returning for one night, with amazing rematches, and with some amazing “Dream” Matches, it was a show that just can't be beat, not for a very long time.
The fans really got into an uproar over the opening surprise of the Hall of Fame inductions. Falcon got their blood flowing with that speech of his that almost brought me to tears. You can tell that man loves this sport and it's a true blessing having him as a part of NCW. Seeing Zelda induct him was amazing, I know it's easy to make some Roman Polanski jokes, and some pretty funny ones too, but it's just incredible how much she means to him. Also, I had fun inducting Adam... he's been by my side for a decade now and having that honor, and seeing how happy he was to get the nod, just made me melt.
Now it would be impossible for me to break down every single match on this show in this column so I'm going to hit on some high points. Lets begin with the Dream Match between Dirty Deal and the Hollands... was there any doubt that these two teams were two of the best tag teams NCW has ever seen? If there was going into the match, there isn't anymore. That was a great display of what makes NCW so great, two teams that just wanted to win and went out there and gave it everything.
It was great to see Brad Kane/Reckless Jack finally get some closure from the first ever Collision Main Event. I don't think there is anything left that should haunt him about his time in NCW. He's been to the top of the mountain as a former World Champion, and now he can finally close the page on losing that first ever Main Event.
I would be a terrible disservice to the man I view as my big brother if I didn't mention Gib, finally coming away with a win over KLB in that fantastic cell match. Those two may have kept fighting all night if either of them could stand afterwards. Seeing Gib come crashing through the top of that cage just reminded me what makes NCW so great. The length those two went to to win that match was incredible, they were both left broken and bloodied, just like we all wanted to see.
Now finally... I'd be a terrible sister if I didn't bring up Zelda's match. Many doubted it was going to happen, many thought that Stefan Rzany was Lance Ryan and that's why it wasn't going down, including myself...but man was it loud in there when Lance Ryan popped out and proved that he was a different person and he was going to do the match, and by match.. I mean a MATCH. Zelda and Lance ripped that place apart with their back and forth action. I think I counted something like 20 nearfalls in that match, a match that went to a time limit draw... twice. To me it epitomized what this sport is all about, the passion that those two fought with, for no other reason than pride was the essence of NCW. I know I'm bias, sue me, but that to me was the match of the card.
In closing, it was just an amazing experience all around, one that I will not soon forget. 10/10.
PREVIEW OF THIS WEEK
OVERALL RECORD:: 136-84 :: I'm going to improve on that this week, you just wait and see.
UPSET OF THE WEEK RECORD:: 7-12 :: I make no promises on this.
TRAUMA
Singles Match
Tempestad vs. Mr. Happy
- Why in the world would I vote for Mr. Happy?
Singles Match
Emma Danielson vs. Megan Kane
- This is a tough one, but I'm going to side with Megan Kane despite the fact Emma had a great return with a win over Tara Fenix.
6 Person Tag Match
Adam Knite, Zelda Knite and Ayla St. James vs. Sephiroth Du Lac, Maria De La Rosa and Malice
- I can't vote against a team of Adam and Zelda no matter how much I want to vote against that stupid tramp Ayla.... whore.
Main Event
Steve Awesome vs. Rob Diamond
- I have to go with the newly reformed Rob Diamond here... mainly because I hate Steve and refuse to vote for him, but also because Diamond has been working really hard lately.
Web Show
Tag Team Match
Alex Jones and Evan Andrews vs. Ron Gibson and Destructor!
- If Alex Jones goes with his stupid threat of no showing the card then I not counting this. Since he's a dork. However, if he does show, I'm going with his team.
Singles Match
Red Dragon vs. Fergus Callaghan
- Maybe I could call this an upset, but I don't think so... beating Fergus even if it's your first match doesn't seem like that big of a deal.
Singles Match
Charlie Velez vs. Stefan Rzany
- Charlie Velez is almost dominate right now, and now that I know he isn't Lance Ryan, I don't give a crap about Rzany anymore.
Collision
Singles Match
Gabriel Karras vs. Andrew Jacobsen
- Call it a hunch, because I can see this match going either way honestly. Very hard match to call.
Singles Match
JFK vs. Freakke
- Freakke has been very good lately, winning his second X-Division title, but JFK has so much experience and is so smart inside that ring, I think he finds a way to win this.
!!!UPSET OF THE WEEK!!!
Three Way Match
Joe Ragnal vs. Xavier Williams vs. Brad Kane
- Joe Ragnal finds himself in a three way against two former NCW champions, and I'm picking the innovator of FUN for the win as my upset of the week.
Xtreme Match
Ashlie Ember vs. Cleopatra
- I hate Ashlie and it'll be fun to see Cleo spank her. Figuratively... hopefully.
Tag Team Match
Philip Burns and Falcon (Hot Wings) vs. DDK and Joe Everyman (CrazyMan)
- With the way Joe Everyman has been going lately, he may make me end up regretting this and I sorta hope he does. However, I can't vote against the former tag team champions "Hot Wings".
Tag Team Title Match
iWash vs. The Young Guns (Doc and Venom)
- I hate voting against Doc and Venom because every time I do it seems like they do great and make me look like an idiot, but I'm going with the champs here.
Main Event
Xavier Cross vs. Angel
- I want to vote for Cross, thinking the momentum from that win on Trauma carries him past Angel, but it's just so hard to vote against Angel... and this week I just can't do it.
THE FAB FIVE
5. Lance Ryan :: He came back, the real Lance Ryan is here, and he had one amazing match against NCW's Princess.
4. The Brothers Holland :: Way to come back in style guys. Impressive victory in that Dream match.
3. Joe Everyman :: It's never an easy task to defeat Spike Kane, it's even harder to do so in an Xtreme match. Way to go Everyman.
2. Gib :: He finally got that win against Bates, it took driving him through the top of a steel cell, but hey... it worked... sorta.
1. Xavier Cross :: He won that mini riot giving himself a title shot whenever he wants. That's good enough to make this number 1 spot if you ask me. Which.. you are, since this is my column.
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
1:: You will have to make sure and watch this Joe Ragnal guy in this match against two former World champions. I know i picked him as the upset of the week so that probably already has you watching him, but the dude is good, and I think he can win this.
2:: This six person tag match on Trauma is going to be huge. It includes two members of the "Dead Girls" whose soul mission is to hurt Zelda. It has Ayla who is a dirty slut and was recently attacked by those same Dead Girls. It should be a great match with a lot of talent in one ring.
3:: You better, and I mean better watch this Hot Wings and Crazyman, it'll be the first time Burns and Falcon have teamed since losing the tag titles to iWash and just a couple of short weeks ago Everyman and DDK wanted to kill each other. It'll be a very interesting match to say the least.
4:: Rob Diamond... I've got a feeling he's about to turn that corner from midcarder to main eventer in the near future, watch him against Steve Awesome, that will be a great judge to see if he's ready for the spotlight.
THE KNITELINE
Fred, Los Angeles CA
In all of nCw's history, what were some of your favorite gimmicks?
- I wasn't a big fan of Trent's spaceman gimmick when he first started it, but it grew on me and it ended up being pretty awesome. I loved Nelly Angels renditions of Lord Dominicus, funny as hell.
Dave T. Z K-Town PA
With as epic as the 3 year show is looking to be, what do you think will happen for the next big mile stone for nCw?
- Hmm I'm not quite sure what you mean? What are you considering NCW's next big mile stone? I'd say the next big mile stone is Road to the Gold IV and it's pretty self explanatory what we're going to do for that mile stone... have a kick ass tournament.
Paul Googenheim, Poola, Wisconsin;
Hi Kels! How's teh baby? That's good. I was just wondering. What's with the sudden obsession with over the top rope battle royals? I know tehy cool and all, but if you keep this up, you're probably going to have to rename one of your pay per views to "Battle Royal", or something. You know, like that other sucky company that murders it's own ideas.
- Did you ask me a question and not give me a chance to answer it? Anyway... Ryleigh's great. Well over the past three years that was the single most requested match we had from fans, a Battle Royal and Riot matches, and until the Riot at Transgression we had never really done them, consider it making up for lost time. Also, don't worry, NCW will never start naming pay per views after our matches. So you won't ever see NCW Presents: ShowCase or NCW Presents: Dragon's Den.... or anything like it.
Jonathan Taylor-Thomas; The Trashcan Behind Kinkos
The big anniversary show came and went and was a huge success. Out of all the stars, both past and present....who do you think made the biggest impact that night?
- Despite a losing effort I have to say Spike Kane. As you probably know he had a kind of falling out with NCW management and it was really shaky seeing the Hall of Famer pretty much black listed from NCW. It took a lot of guts for him to agree to do this show and it's being said it really helped to bury the hatchet. Also, I think Lance Ryan coming out and clearing his name was a huge impact as well.
Jim; Orange County, California
Who do you think will be the next guy to try and steal you away from Adam? My money is on Rob Diamond.
- Rob would be **** out of luck too... no offense Rob. If I had to bet on somebody who would likely try and steal me away, I'd have to go with the young Andrew Jacobsen... but only if he fails to steal Zelda away from Falcon, he might just have a thing for us Knite chicks. -wink-
MY CLOSING THOUGHTS
I said it in the Kniteline question... but seeing Spike out there fighting as hard as he did for this company really impressed a lot of people. Maybe we'll see Spike Kane make a return to NCW now? We all hope so.
So Stefan Rzany isn't Lance Ryan... I'm sorry I didn't see it Lance, but you have to admit... he was pretty convincing. I'm very proud that Zelda was able to bring you back Lance... welcome home.
My surrogate big brother, Gib, is doing well. There were no lasting injuries from his fall, for either him or Bates. However, doctors said they are going to be very sore for a while.
What is up with these “Dead Girls”? They are like super pyschos and honestly, it kind of creeps me out. Especially the part where Malice calls Maria De La Rosa.... “mom”... that's just disturbing.
Congratulations are in order for Xavier Cross, he's been out of action for a while, nursing some nagging injuries and wow did he make his comeback an impressive one. I don't think anybody gave him a chance in that Mini-Riot... man did he show us.
I mentioned it briefly earlier... but it really amazes me how much of effect Zelda has on Falcon. Her getting the nod to induct him over the likes of say Angel... was just stunning. I will never make another “pedo joke” again.... or I'll at least try not to.
Going back to that Mini-Riot... man was that a hard fought match. Word backstage is that management was amazed with it and there could be great rewards to all those who took part in it, in the near future.
Well that's all I've got this week. Once again thanks to all of you who made three years of NCW wrestling possible and thank you for reading this column. It's been a true honor.
