OPENING
Welcome to this column fans, it’s been a hell of a week as the road tot he gold Tournament is under way and man did it start off with a bang. I’ll get to that later in my review of last week, and really go in depth on what made this week such a great one with all the in ring action. It’s good to be here this week, I know last week I missed my usual time slot to have this article up and I’m really sorry about that but it seems like this might be a permanent change, I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me and lets carry on this week.
Last week’s poll... I can’t say it’s a surprise because again it featured Doc and again he wins the poll. You fans must love the guy and I can understand why, he’s a great wrestler and he’s exciting to watch in that ring. However, I think you guys nailed the question, because that match was superb, I had my doubts on how great it was going to be, but it did not disappoint me in the least. It was a stand out match and one I could watch over and over again.
This week’s is going to be something a bit different I think, ok... not really at all different since we’ve done these sorta of polls before in a way. Anyway, I’m going to list the eight remaining wrestlers in the Road to the Gold tournament, you pick which four you think are going to move on. Then we’ll see who did the better job predicting the four matches, me or you. Doesn’t that sound like fun? I know right, I’m looking forward to it myself.
Anyway, lets get right to the meet of this column shall we? I have a lot to get to.
LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
So anyway, we had a great couple of shows this week, we had the debuts of a lot of newcomers, all of which were very impressive, and we of course had the Road to the Gold tournament. The tournament had at least four matches where it was a shame to see the loser go, because you just knew they could of went further if not for their first round matchup. Falcon and Maniac of course being the two most visible ones. They had some tough draws in the first round and by lord they almost walked out with victories, but in the end somebody has to lose and they barely got edged out. If this were a double elimination tournament I could almost guarantee they’d be right back and ready to run through the tournament.
Overall the shows were just fantastic. Trauma had some fine matches, ending with the big Xavier Williams versus Jason Blair main event. I picked Blair to win as a lock, and it appears I was wrong, but that’s nothing to be ashamed about. Williams is a former world champion, he stepped up his game and really did a great job, can’t take anything away from his win, he fought with heart and won.
On Collision the tournament featured five matches all of which were just amazing. I hated seeing those people leave this tournament but that’s just how it goes. They’ll rebound from those loses and really come back this week, I know it. Before you ask... no, I have no idea what is going on inside Zelda’s head... I was just as confused as everybody else with her seemingly not caring, then suddenly jumping in to steal the victory, and frankly I don’t think it’s important, she has her reasons.
Finally, I loved the action this week and for a Road to the Gold kickoff show... it was incredible. Great matches, somebody returning under the Homeless Harold mask... DDK’s wheel of a second chance challengers and seeing these guys give it their all for one goal, just makes for an amazing night. I loved it.
PREVIEW OF THIS WEEK
I’m pretty sure I don’t have to mention how great these Road to the Gold matches are going to be, Collision will end with two of them and we’ll find out the final four NCW wrestlers then. It’s a great chance for somebody to really go on and do some special things here in this company, I expect all eight of these men to really bring everything they’ve got, which is just going to make these matches that much more awesome.
Other than that we’ve got a great lineup with Alex Jones and Dave Holland also being booked in a tag team title match on Collision. Angel and Jones might be at a disadvantage with Alex wrestling on Trauma in his Road to the Gold match, but Dave Holland might be worse off in the end, since he’ll be wrestling twice in the same night. Freakke might be a wise choice if you’re placing any bets on the matches this week since he’ll get a Dave Holland that already had to deal with Angel and Alex Jones earlier in the night. Just something to think about.
The shows just look great, We have a few more debuts and we’ve got some fine matches, the new guys in Ander Carvetti and Johnny Holliday, after impressing on the web show last week, get a shot on the big show and in a couple of great match ups. I have to think despite being against only one opponent Johnny Holliday got the worst of the deal.... Maniac... is just that.. a freaking Maniac. That should be a great one.
It’s going to be a great weekend of wrestling, you’re really going to enjoy these shows. From the Road to the Gold, to the huge six person mixed tag team match and even the Second Chance challenge that DDK is giving, it’s going to be just great.

THE FAB FIVE
5. Alex Jones :: Had to go through a former World champion to make it out of the first round and did.
4. Charlie Velez :: Look at the Alex Jones comment.
3. Xavier Williams :: He didn’t have to beat a world champion, but he had to defeat the hottest wrestler in NCW at the moment in Jason Blair.
2. DDK :: He didn’t beat a world champion, and didn’t wrestle on one of the two big shows, but that Second Chance Challenge idea was fantastic.
1. Dave Holland :: He gets this spot becaue Maniac was the toughest draw in that first round, it’s a shame that one of them had to lose.
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
:: 6 Person Tag Match :: It’s going to be an interesting match to say the least. We have the Young Guns taking on the past Revolution team members of Knitington plus Manielson, which I am dubbing Knitingtonman. It’ll be brother versus sister, and it’ll feature the former tag team champions who are not happy the Hollands are getting a tag team title shot already, I can promise you that. So it’s worth taking a look at.
:: Ander Carvetti :: Impressed a lot of people in that debut tag team match, I’ve known him for years and the guy has a lot of talent. Watch him in this three way match, where he’s going to show he can hang with a couple of NCW champions. It’s also interesting because of the two men standing on the top of the ladder at Battle Grounds meet for the the first time since Tempestad took that Falcon Paunch to the face, costing him the belt.
:: Dave Holland vs. Freakke :: The National champion is in the main event and he may just be the underdog giong into this match, which is amazing to think about. Dave Holland and Milo have been on a roll since they came back to NCW and I think he’s definitely the man to beat in this tournament. With that said, don’t write Freakke off, everybody has written him off since he joined NCW and he’s only responded by being a 2x X-Division champion and the current National champion.
:: Maniac :: Don’t let that loss in the Road to the Gold make you think he still isn’t a very dangerous wrestler, he gets Johnny Holliday, a widely decorated wrestelr worldwide, this week, and you better believe Chris is going to give him everything he can handle plus some. You thought Maniac was trouble before, wait until you see him pissed off after a loss.
THE KNITELINE
Mirko-Zagreb Croatia
Hello Kelly, long time NCW watcher and just like to ask, I heard rumour that you may stop doing Knitelife...is this a truth?
:: Here I am, so I guess not.
Ned Orton; new york
More legit injury: Joe Everyman's knee stinger, or Mike Machado's Hot Pocket addiction?
:: It's gotta be the knee stinger, you know they target specific parts of the body, like joints right?
Michael Faust aka Dr. Dream, On The Road
What's up Kelly? It's good to be on the road again after having my arm in a cast for several months. Anyhow, wanted to check in on nCw and make sure the Clown wasn't driving everybody mad. I've been looking through what alls been happening lately and I was curious if anyone knew what was going on with the whole Maniac/Chris Diamond thing? Never pegged him as the psycho in the mask guy.
:: What's funny is all the former PWW members like myself couldn't picture him as a clean cut business man General Manager.
Timmy Tucker, Johnsonville, Kentucky
"Hi Kelly. I was wondering if you knew whether or not Rob Diamond would be coming back to nCw once his injuries were healed? I saw the ppv and his match with that psycho was brutal and that wound looked nasty, I mean, do you have any sort of inside info as to what is next in his career?"
:: There hasn't been much news coming out of the Rob Diamond camp, but I'm sure it'll take more than this to keep him down.
Jonas Hurley; Ireland
Knitington again? Why would nCw management keep booking them as a team? There's obviously no force in the world that can beat such a powerful entity.
:: People have been demanding more "Knitington", it's becoming a wrestling phenomenon.
Alice Johnson; Lansing, Michigan
Is Doc an actual doctor? That'd be a sweet deal for him and for nCw. After he beats you up, he can heal your injuries. He's my fave!
:: I ask him once if he was and he said "no, but we can play doctor if you want"... I'm not sure what that meant but...
Nathan Layfield; Boise, ID
Kelly Knite: great wrestler, or the GREATEST wrestler?
:: By far the best.
Dave T. Zombie, K-Town PA
So...do you have thoughts on Steve Awesome's alleged injury or are you still laughing at the way he was carrying on?
:: LMAO
Ray Anderson; Dirty Dodge, Iowa
"What's the over/under on Brad Kane ending this so called break? I give it two weeks."
:: 2 hours and 3 minutes.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
:: What is up with Zelda? She’s been acting like a diva the past week, uncharacteristic of her. In fact I think it started around the time she found out Gib was her father. Maybe?
:: I said above, I love that DDK Second Chance Challenge and I mean it, it’s a great way to give somebody who lost a match to prove that they were capable of going the distance, or to show that maybe they really weren’t.
:: Speaking of DDK, just try it jerkass. I’ll beat you worse than your redneck daddy did, then fire you if you try anything.
:: Joe Everyman was given a great opportunity to prove that he’s a main eventer after the Battle Grounds WarFare match.... and he chocked. What else is new? Grass still gree? Sky still blue? Mark Evil still dead? Ok... maybe that wasn’t a good one.
:: God... I love this tournament.
:: Rumor is that “Mind Games” is no more. That’s right, word going around the back is my daddy is looking to rename a few pay per views to keep things interesting... Mind Games and Transgression seem to be the early targets of this. I’ll keep you filled in as the news comes down.
:: What in the hell is going on with Gabriel Karras... is he recruiting for an invasion of a small third world country? Why does he need so many followers?
Well fans, that’s all I’ve got for you this week. I really hope you enjoyed this colum and you come back next week for more exciting NCW news and action. Until next time...
