Gabriel's Letter to Everyman
Chapter 1, Verse 1-6
Dear Joseph,
1 I can understand that you are confused, Joseph. Really, I understand it. You're hurting, because you've finally realized what you drove away, the puzzle pieces you discarded when you received a shiny new toy. You thought you would enjoy the fresh new experience for a time, and the old would be there, waiting for you to pick it back up to play. But it wasn't, and now you are lost. But worry not, for all that has been lost can be found again.
2 I know you are upset, and that causes you to say things you know to be untrue. You are quite correct, however, you are not a religious man. In fact, you never were. Simply going to church does not make you religious, it does not make you righteous or even right, it simply takes time out of your day. Religion itself does not breed terror, people do. Nowhere in my bible does it say, 'Attack those who don't believe what you believe', quite the opposite in fact. I have not attacked you, quite the opposite in fact. I was willing to put down the arms, to let you do what you felt you had to. I have not kept her from you, I have not barred her in a dungeon, you are free to come here and see her whenever you want. You can blame me, but your only enemy is your own inaction. I have not terrorized anyone, the only terrorist in your life is your own self.
3 My orders have been to help people see the light, in terms they understand. This is a violent business, and thus, I must conform to the methods. But who have I hurt that did not deserve it? Sephiroth was a demon beast of the night, who was thought responsible for the death of a fellow priest, and yet he was innocent? How can you believe that? Tempestad turned his back on God, and I made him realize the err of his ways, he his betrayal was one of innocence? Who have I hurt that was uncalled for? You hurt Maria, I healed her pain. And yet, your suffering because of that is my fault? I do not understand you Joseph. And even so, I'm still willing to help you.
4 I do want you to understand though. I have in no way consorted with Maria, Joseph. I am a Man of God, and I take those vows stricter than you believe. I healed the wounded, as is my calling, nothing more. If I wanted to abuse and obstrate my power, do you think I would be in a relic of a church in Montana? I would be on television, like Pat Robertson or Joel Osteen, in an enormous cathedral, with several thousand seats. But I am here, where my people need me, because this is my life. You are quite correct in your belief that I am not like other religious figureheads, only you assume me on the wrong side. I abuse no-one, I scam no-one, I decieve no-one, not even those who hate me, like you. Everything I've said, has been the truth Joseph. Try to understand that.
5 This is my last attempt to get through to you. Stop this foolishness. Stop breeding the lies you've been telling. Stop pointing fingers and throwing blame before it is too late. I can see the hope in her eyes when she talks about you, the wish that you were the man she would spend forever with. But it starts with you Joseph. You are wrong Joseph. I have God on my side. I am his right hand, his voice fills my ears, his words guide my path.
6 I am never... alone..[/color]
