OPENING
Hello again my loyal Kel-Heads... what? Not good? Fine.. whatever, moving on, it’s that time of the month again, no not “that” time, don’t be pervs, I’m talking about it’s time for another exciting NCW pay per view! This time it’s no longer Mind Games, it’s Breaking Away being brought to you live from Canada. It’s good to be up here in the frozen north with all these great Canadian fans, man do they love their wrestling. We’ve got a lot to cover this week, with a show like this there is very little time to really cover it fully and capture the true essence of what is about to take place, however, I will do my best to really get you excited for this show.
First lets get a few things out of the way, like namely... did you see me totally put that Pixelated Dork through the announce table!? Yeah, make her think twice about messing with me, especially about trying a repeat of her previous antics. Poor, Sidney... she just doesn’t realize that you can get me once, but it isn’t going to happen again. Speaking of Sidney though, I’m starting a little campaign to get everybody on the roster and all the former “Zombies” to call her that, make sure to really grind her gears with this one guys, we really want to put the screws to her right?
Anywas, I’m not here to talk about myself, we’re here for one thing... ok.. two, to talk about myself and to give NCW a good old fashion review/preview for the week. However, before we start that I know there is something I have to get to.. THE POLLS! Last week of course I finally broke down thanks to all of that idiot Jayson Matthews hounding and did a poll over Awesome Love and I must say, I’m pretty pleased with the results. We had a lot of people chiming in thinking the show has already strapped on it’s leather jacket and jumped the shark on some water skis, but in the end it was Awesome Love came through and the majority of you fans decided that the show either got better or stayed awesome. Good job everybody who participated, however I’d like to note that this was one of our lease voted on polls of the year, come on people, lets get it together and participate here.
This week... well it’s pay per view week so you should already know what these polls are going to be about, what match are you looking forward to the most! I don’t think I’ve ever done a different poll for a pay per view, so why slow down now right? Good, make sure to get your votes in and lets have fun and great week everybody!
WEEK IN REVIEW
Before we can get to the preview, we have to go over what we saw this week, and what did we see? A lot. So much was going on that it seemed hard to keep up with at times but in then end it all came out for the best. Both shows this week were very exciting, and I’m not just saying that because I was on the Trauma main event, but because they just were danggit. I was a little disappointed in Collision this week, only because of Karras being a douche and screwing up the main event, so I really can’t complain that much.
Trauma as you know has been a little pet project of mine to pimp and make into something special and I think it’s really coming along. This past week, with matches like Ragnal teaming with Conway agaisnt Total Eclipse and Andrew Jacobsen versus Ander Carvetti, it was really hard for it to miss though. The action was great and the wrestlers really gave it their all, and it doesn’t hurt that we got the great announcement that Brad Kane and Evan Andrews would be squaring off at Breaking Away on this show when they announced they’d be competing in a Technical Exhibition. In fact there was a second match announcement on this show, as I mentioned above... after I put Sidney through that announce table I opened the challenge to a cage match that really wasn’t a challenge at all, because I’m the boss’s daughter and I get what I want. Even though I was a part of one of the matches and part of one of the match making bombshells, I’ve gotta say it was a great show again, very exciting, and yes I’m bias, so what? It’s my column.
Collision well I don’t know how many ways I can say Collision was great every week, but I’ll try and think of new ways regardless, it was a great show. I particularly liked the amazing show of respect between Will Washington and Jack Manson, they really know how to get the fans going with their dedication to the ring, and the Angel versus Xavier Williams match, because of their long history against each other. Everything was so exciting though, it’s hard just to single out those two moments, Everybody involved should be very proud of themselves... except for Hell’s Keeper...he should be ashamed of himself for being so lame.
The shows were exciting, they had some great wrestling and overall there isn’t much to complain about this week. I’m going back to the high marks here... B+.
THE FAB FIVE
5. Stephanie Sullivan :: Ayla St. James is one of the original NCW Starlets and has shown time and again that she is one of the most dangerous, it was a big win for Sullivan to come in and take Ayla down and earned her a shot at the #1 Contendership.
4. Andrew Jacobsen :: Ander Carvetti is a really tough competitor and has been called one of NCW’s brightest young stars a title that has been said about young Andrew Jacobsen plenty of times as well, it was a good match and a great win for Andrew.
3. Venom :: He defeated the masked luchadore in a great match, many people thought Tempestad would take it, but Venom showed what has made him a huge success in the ring throughout his career.
2. Lex Sense :: I would of put him number one, but winning the title thanks to a DQ is kind of taking that away from him. It was a great match and no matter how it happened it was an impressive victory and good luck to this man as our new Honor Champion.
1. Jack Manson :: I told you to keep an eye on him and he picked up one hell of a hard fought victory against Will Washington in a match where both men showed some great respect for each other. It was a great match just for the great sportsmanship they showed and Manson earned him this top spot.
PAY PER VIEW PREVIEW
Last Week’s Record:: 10-3 :: What’s the sound you hear? Oh it’s the sound of me getting every damn match on Collision right! Oh yeah it’s true.. I’m awesome like that.
Overall Record:: 280-155 :: Oh man, I dare anybody to try and beat that. You can’t, I promise you. Trust me. Shut up.
Ok, this week I’m going to try something a little different for the Pay Per View predictions since they are supposed to be special matches I’m going to try and preview the matches one by one while making my predictions and lets see how it goes over shall we? I hope you enjoy this new way and hell if you wanna give me some feedback on it, go right ahead and do so on the website.
Emma Danielson vs. Trish Newborn
:: It’s Emma Danielson’s first title defense since she won the title back on the 300th episode of NCW programming. She takes on Newborn who hasn’t been around NCW for long nor does she have many wins but she’s certainly been impressive in her limited action here and NCW management is eagerly waiting to see what she can do in this match, win or lose. It’s going to be very exciting from a few different angles and honestly you have to believe that Emma is the favorite in this match, but Newborn is a real wildcard competitor she is certainly talented enough to win it. This is a tough one, but I’m going to go ahead and go for it, and use my instincts on this one.
Winner: Trish Newborn - UPSET OF THE WEEK
Joe Ragnal vs. Hugo Conway
:: This is going to be a tough one to call because it feels so bad picking against Hugo Conway, that little guy has the heart of at least three wrestlers, guy never gives up, never stops until that bell is rung. Ragnal is clearly the favorite here and all signs are pointing at him retaining this belt and keeping his claim as the king of this new X Championship, but I can promise you one thing, Conway will give him the fight of his life and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the young Conway walk out of this show with Ragnal’s title, even if it doesn’t seem all that likely.
Winner: Joe Ragnal
Blood Ties vs. The Rat Pack
:: Blood Ties won the first matchup between these teams, but this time around there is a lot more at stake... pride. These two teams have been beating each other, having a verbal war of words and just overall getting under each other’s skins at every turn. This to me is the most unpredictable match of the night, both teams have what it takes to win, both teams want to win bad and not just for the title, so it’s a match where everything seems to be on the line for both teams. If it could vote for a tie, I think I would here, but since I have to step out and go for a team since it wouldn’t be fair to call a draw every time a match is tough... I’m going with Blood Ties who manage to keep the Rat Pack down again.
Winner: Blood Ties
Brad Kane vs. Evan Andrews
:: It’s two best friends who are fighting for nothing other than they want to come out there and show the NCW fans a great match with no ill feelings to it. I’ve got a ton of respect for both of these men right now, just going out there to wrestle, just so they can entertain the fans, that’s amazing to me and I’m really pulling for these guys to put on the show of a lifetime. Going against what I said earlier... it doesn’t matter who wins since this match is all about the fans...
Winner: Draw
Kelly Knite vs. Sidney Knite
:: Hey Sidney.. this is going to be a good match isn’t it Sidney? I think it will be Sidney, I don’t know about you though Sidney. Ok ok.. enough tom foolery. Hey it’s the Knite sisters inside a cage, that’s surely going to be one of the top matches of the night, simply because you lovely fans get to see me, in action, four weeks in a row! Isn’t that awesome? I haven’t wrestled that much in years, I’m loving it. Anyway, if you think I’m going to pick that Pissy Princess to win this match, then you’re out of your mind... and it wouldn’t be fair to pick myself on a show like this...
Winner: Can’t Say... but I totally will win... you watch.
Adam Knite vs. Jack Manson
:: I think many people have been waiting for this match ever since Adam jerked Manson’s celebration from him at Road to the Gold. Manson and Adam have been key parts of NCW since the doors opened way back when and I don’t think outside tag team matches here or there they’ve ever been in the ring solo like this... this might just count as being an NCW dream match. I hate to side with Adam because honestly, I know I’m bias for him, but I also hate to pick against him and would feel like a terrible wife if I did. I am going to justify picking Adam by saying he’s the former World champion and that he can win any match he wants.
Winner: Adam Knite
Joe Everyman vs. Lex Sense vs. Maniac vs. Gabriel Karras
:: Ok, over the past few weeks I know I’ve been really bagging on this feud and I know that I’ve openly admitted that I haven’t been paying as much attention to it as I should, but this week I’m actually really interested. For one thing Lex Sense and Maniac just had an honor title match decided by the DQ rule, and Everyman and Karras are still at each other’s throats. But that’s not it.. these three will be in a Nightmare cage match! Anything goes, there will be weapons everywhere, there will be a lot of blood spilt in this match and I for one, love violence like this... no titles on the line, just four men looking to beat the hell out of each other until they stop moving. It’s tough to pick “A WINNER” here because all four are great wrestlers... but... dammit... I’m going to regret this I just know it...
Winner: Joe Everyman - It’s finally his time to shine
Andrew Jacobsen vs. Steve Awesome
:: It appears that I’m not the only one who doesn’t care for Awesome Love, and I knew I could trust on my boy Andrew Jacobsen not to like it.... even though, it’s for completely different reasons it seems... you know because my mom isn’t on the show or anything like that. Anyway, that doesn’t matter, what matters is that these two will be going one on one at Breaking Away over this whole incident of Awesome refusing to cut Jacobsen’s mom from the show. This is a huge opportunity for the Young Jacobsen, but I don’t know... matches like this, on shows like this.... is where Steve brings his best... it’s going to be tough and I’m sorry.. I don’t see it happening.
Winner: Steve Awesome
Jason Blair and Freakke vs. Falcon and Chuck Moss
:: A tag team match for the National title, I love the fact that Blair refused to defend his title against Freakke, and he technically got his way since he’ll be defending “with” Freakke. -giggles- that’s funny. Anyway... this is a tough one, not really to pick I mean because it’s a match where I have to pick the winning team? Or the person who walks out as the National champion? I don’t know... I’m just going to pick a team and give me a bonus point if I pick the right person on the team...
Winners: Falcon and Chuck Moss with Falcon making the pin
Charlie Velez vs. Dave Holland
:: The rematch from the Road to the Gold tournament, Velez gets the shot by having Sidney hand it to him, and of interesting note... it’s amazing how Charlie has been acting since that happened, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so appreciative and so respectful of one person like he has been her since this happened, it’s like it changed him in a way when he realized he had somebody who thought that much of him. And if there is one thing I can say about Sidney, is she indeed thinks highly of him.... anyway enough of the backstory... good grief... this is about Velez and Holland in this epic rematch. The first match in the Road to the Gold tournament could of went either way several times and Velez was a hair from winning plenty of times during it. He has a lot to prove and he has a lot on the line, he’s never been a world champion and he wants this more than life right now, it’d be a shame to see him lose this opportunity. On the other hand Holland, the hall of famer, has finally made it to the top of the NCW mountain... and I think it’d take an act of God to dethrone him, man... what a match. I don’t know if I can pick because I’m going to be unhappy about either choice in a way... Holland hasn’t lost a match in months.. I’m going to say Velez simply because it’s a rematch and Holland’s magic has to wear out sometime right?
Winner: Charlie Velez
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
:: Hugo Conway :: Watch this kid, because win or lose you’re going to see him come out there and give that match everything he has inside of him, win or lose you’re going to see that kid give Ragnal everything he can handle and more. With some more training and good work, he’s going to be a big star in NCW someday and a huge inspiration to the fans.
:: Kelly vs. Sidney :: Hey, if there wasn’t a bit of shameless Self Promotion in this column it wouldn’t be the Knitelife and this is going to be a good match, I will make sure of it. Other times when I say a match is going to be good, I’m only going by the given available information, but this time I can actually say it’s going to be good because I have a hand in making it so. Pretty good reasoning huh? I hope you bought it.
:: Wired :: There are going to be plenty of good matches that will be broadcast to you fans for free on Wired this month, some matches that should be on the pay per view card but there just isn’t enough room. Matches like Ricky Johnson taking on DDk and the Women’s #1 contender match and not to mention the big tag team match featuring Will Washington and Venom. You will want to see Wired this week, if you’re not getting the pay per view, it will be like a mini one live from your computer, and if you are.. it’s still a great build up. Speaking of Wired... my predictions: DDK, Homeless Harold and Venom, Stephanie, and Todd Williams! How do you like that, I snuck some more predictions in here.
:: Charlie Velez :: He’s been called the best wrestler who has never won the World title, he’s hungrier for this opportunity more than any wrestler in this company, it’s his chance, it’s what he’s been waiting for his whole life.. can he do it? Even if he falls short, you know you’ll be getting 120% of Charlie’s effort that’s why you will want to see what he’s capable of doing on Breaking Away.
THE KNITELINE
Jenny, Iowa
Oh Em Gee, I know that Zelda and the Young Guns totally kicked your ass and it was uncalled for but last I checked this is the wrestling business and you want to be considered as a wrestler so that kind of thing is bound to happen. Going and ruining someone's relationship like you're doing though is totally uncalled for. How much of a bitch are you?
:: I don't care if you don't believe me or if you just think I simply shouldn't of told on her, because I know I'm right and I know Kyle deserved to hear the news. Did I figure Sidney hadn't told him the news? Yeah.. I was sneaky about that, but other then that, everything I said was for good reason.
Brady Quaker, Chicago, IL
Between Homeless Harold, Maniac, Lex Sense, Hells Keeper, and Gabriel Karras, the nCw definitely has it's fair share of completely insane individuals. Who do you think it the least mentally stable nCw superstar of all time?
:: Of all time? The least mentally stable? Wow that's weird question to ask, but I mean you can't really fault me for picking a guy with the name "Maniac" that kind of says it all doesn't it?
Concerned Fan, Chicago, Ill
How the hell did Brad Kane and his best friend Evan Andrews end up with a match on the Breaking Away Pay Per View? I understand it's suppose to be some exhibition of how great they are technically, but what have they done lately to make the fans care about them enough to get on the Pay Per View? Whose running that place you work for now adays anyway???
:: Well they set up the match for the fans and I guess that's just what the fans want to see, some great action between two wrestlers who have a ton of respect for one another. It won't be a bloody beat down, but it will be two friends doing their best to win.
Keith Olberman, New York, NY
More reliable for accurate information: Fox News, or The Gun Show?
:: I really hate to admit it, but he Gun Show by far.
Doug Richards; Las Vegas, NV
Out of all the champions over the years, which stands out in the back of your mind as the greatest champion in nCw history?
:: It would be very biased of me to pick who I want to... Adam.. because he's my husband, so I won't do that. Other than that, it's very hard to say... I could say Ricky Johnson since he's won every title except two... I could say Sidney because of her 250+ day title reign, I could say Lance Ryan for being the first and first 2x world champion, a lot of choices. I'll go with an off the wall pick and go with Angel.. two world titles, three x-division titles and two tag team championships... that's impressive.
Cassandra Chase, Vancouver BC:
Hi Kelly!
I was just looking at the Breaking Away card, and I notice that while two of the members of the Young Guns are involved in high profile matches, Venom appears to be languishing near the bottom of the card between two makeshift tag teams. Any idea why he hasn't been able to parlay his membership in that group into the success that they've enjoyed in recent months? Could it be because he's just not as talented as the other two? Perhaps he's the weak link of the team?
Or, is something else coming into play?
Thanks in advance for your response.
P.S.: Good luck in your match against Zelda. She's certainly not the same free-spirited competitor that I knew in Ring of Beauty, that's for sure. Kinda makes me want to return to the ring sometime and remind her why I had success against her in the past. Anyway, give her one in the chops for me, if you get the chance. Thanks again!
:: Oh Venom certainly is no "wink link" the man can win any match he wants when he puts his mind to it. I think it's just because he got caught up in the numbers game, because he's in a match with Homeless Harold, Will Washington and Milo Holland, those are not any ordinary names in NCW. Also, don't worry, I'm about to knock to taste out of her mouth.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
:: It’s all in a name? I’ve never been this excited for Mind games before... is it because of the talent level in NCw right now? Yes, I’m sure that’s part of it, but I personally giving credit to the name change.
:: This show is Joe Everyman’s chance to finally step out of the shadows, this show is finally time for Joe Everyman to prove that he belongs with the top wrestlers in NCW.. maybe possibly time for him to start his climb to the Hall of Fame? A lot of people are expecting a lot from you Joe. Don’t let them down.
:: I said this earlier, but man.. wired is so good this week. It’s a shame that most of those matches are on Wired, they should be on the pay per view card I tell you.... sigh.
:: I don’t care if anybody believes me in what I said about Sidney and Jacobsen... I don’t care if those two deny it... I know it’s true, I could hear them and she confided in me. Don’t fall for those blue doe eyes of her’s Kyle... she stabbed you in the back.
:: I don’t know who is going to walk out with the world title, but man it’s going to be fun watching.
:: We’re currently getting ready for the RiOT match next month, I’ve been told NCW officially might be in contact with some former stars to see if they want to come back and try their hand at winning this match, keep an eye out. Should be very interesting.
:: Breaking Away could rival our Flagship show Road to the Gold this month, it’s that good from top to bottom, and I’m not saying that just because I’m on the card but simply because every match is so good and so meaningful.
Well fans, that’s all I have for you tonight, I hope you enjoyed this column and I hope you come back next week to catch what went down from Breaking Away if you didn’t order the show. Until next time...
