Wrestler RL Name:
Chris Docherty
Wrestler IC Name:
Doc
Main Nickname:
"The Lionheart"
Other Nicknames:
"The Boyhood Dream"
Alignment:
Face
Gimmick:
Respected by fans for the resilience shown in wrestling on against all doctor advice and returning from serious injuries. Has had time to contemplate things in his absence and comes back with a fresh perspective, realizing he just loves the business and wants to continue. At the same time, he knows his body will struggle to return to 100% and is ever-conscious that any further neck or spinal injury would have a serious effect on his quality of life. As such, many internet smarks are suggesting that any "serious" hopes the veteran had of remaining a significant part of nCw programming are long gone, and many worry for his long term health in choosing to compete again.
Height:
6"2
Weight:
216lbs
Age:
28 - (D.O.B: 14/09/1983)
Hometown:
Glasgow, Scotland
Pic Base:
Drew McIntyre
Appearance/Attire:
In the ring:
Rugby-style helmet due to injuries:
Blue tights with a white cross in the shape of the Scottish saltire going across his groin and legs, fist wraps (stems from his boxing background)
Out of ring:
Usually casually dressed, tracksuits etc, will still dress sharp if the occasion arises.
Theme Music:
"House of Pain" by Game
Entrance:
As the fans wait in anticipation, "House of Pain" hits over the PA and the crowd rise to their feet, awaiting the arrival of Doc. The lights then turn to darkness, and soon two bright blue strobe lighting bolts shine on the top of the ramp. They cross over in a huge "X" shape, like the St. Andrews flag of Scotland, and as Doc walks out and stands under the "X", the lights turn back on and the crowd pop for their gutsy favourite. Doc walks down to the ring sporting a protective helmet and slides in, stretching himself off and getting focused mentally on the match ahead.
Wrestling Style & Move List:
'Trademark Doc'
All-Round (ie. off-the-cuff, catch-as-catch-can). He is able to use his Junior-Heavyweight status to fly around the ring but also has some technical knowledge. He is also able to stand and fight, as he boxed at amateur level through his childhood and teenage years. Finally, he has become accomplished in extreme environments during his wrestling career due to his participation in high-risk matches over the years - his success in which is mainly down to his ability to keep getting up no matter how much punishment he takes.
Since Injuries**
Injuries have obviously slowed Doc down and weakened his body slightly, leaving his neck and spine particularly vulnerable. He will always attempt to refer to the 'Trademark Doc' style in attempt to please the fans and relive the 'glory days', but is likely to come up stuck with this approach against tough opposition. As a result, Doc, who came originally from a boxing background, has spent his recovery time studying amateur wrestling and will resort to mat wrestling and rest holds in particularly difficult encounters, knowing that his body cannot last the pace of high-octane matches against the best of them any more.
Favorite Moves: Piledriver, Suplex, German Suplex, Armbar, Armbar takedown, Neck Vice, Main event sleeper, Neckbreaker, DDT, Knife edge chop, Backbreaker, Knee clip, Scoop Slam, Front facelock, Clothesline, Jab, Right hook, Left hook, Double axe handle, Springboard corkscrew mounsault (Plancha - see HBK/Angle at WM 21)
**Will wrestle on mat and use rest holds in long-duration matches to give his body time to recover
Finisher 1: Genicide Kick
Description: Sweet Chin Music
Set Up: Doc goes to the corner and Prepares for Wipeout (Tuning up the band) by stomping his foot in the corner. When the opponent turns around he nails him with a stiff kick to the chin/jaw. It can also come out of nowhere, though.
Finisher 2: Lionsault
Description: Springboard Moonsault
Set Up: Doc can springboard on to either a standing or fallen opponent by using the middle rope and moonsaulting in mid air (Jericho's Lionsault).
**As this move is more high-risk, Doc will avoid it during most matches in favour of his trademark Genicide Kick or sumbission finisher (Doc Lock). However, Doc will use this move during particularly grueling matches where he looks set to somehow pull off a victory - the Lionsault a reference to his nickname and resilience.
Submission Finisher: Doc Lock
Description: Ankle Lock
Set Up: When the opponent goes to kick Doc, Doc catches his leg then swiftly sweeps away his other, making him fall to the mat. Doc drops to one knee then moves his hand which is on the leg of the opponent to the ankle, and begins twisting it round.
