NCW HEADQUARTERS -- DALLAS, TEXAS March 4, 2013 | 3:15 PM ET NCW has released the card for its Crossroads pay-per-view set to take place on March 10. And while fans will get to see a huge Starlets tag team match featuring Every Man's Fantasy as well as reigning World Starlets Champion Jennifer Williams in action for the first time since winning the vacant title, another Starlet will be notably absent. Those hoping to see Mercedes Vargas this weekend at the sixth annual event will be in for much of a surprise as following last night’s Collision, the 2012 Starlets Road to the Gold finalist will be taking time off from NCW for the unforeseeable future. Sources close to the former World Starlets Tag Team Champion noted that since returning from a concussion she suffered at Road to the Gold V back in October 2010, she has been on television non-stop. Her return in April 2012 was seen as a breath of fresh air to NCW’s women’s division. It's the first time in ten months that Vargas will be missing shows that is non-injury related. On the plus side, her absence gives other women on the roster some much needed television time. Whether or not she is the most popular Starlet on the roster or a draw for the company in terms of marketing and merchandise sales, there is no doubt she is the most consistent and a visible presence on every Trauma, Collision or pay-per-view. With the release of Rayne at the end of 2010 followed by Alysson Gardner and Ayla St. James late last year, it remains to be seen how the Starlets Division will fare until Vargas’ return to in-ring action again.

Source: NCWInsider.com Whilst the official story from NCW headquarters is that Mercedes Vargas is taking a temporary break from the company of her own free will, the unofficial story according to some sources close to the Conway Starlet Division administration is a little more interesting. Apparently Mercedes' departure from the company has been on the cards for at least a month now, and Vargas' spot in the Fatal Four Way for the then vacant Starlets World Championship was a last ditch effort by the Head of the Starlets, Jake Conway to try and appease Vargas and rebuild some bridges between her and the administration. It is also worth noting that originally the Four Way World Championship match had been scheduled for Crossroads, meaning Vargas would have infact been a part of the upcoming Pay Per View. But rumours now suggest Kathleen Conway fiercely objected to Vargas even being on a Pay Per View in such a match, and a compromise was reached where the title match was shifted to a weekly show and the six woman tag team match which was originally scheduled for free television now taking its spot on this Sunday's Pay Per View. It is no secret that the off air relationship between Vargas and the Conways has been strained ever since rumours of an affair between her and Kathy's husband, Jake Conway surfaced, and now it seems Kathy is not afraid to use the power she has within the company to design the entire division around her. It really does pay when you're married to an NCW Veteran who just happens to run the division by your side, apparently. Whilst Jake Conway was unavailable for comment, Kathy Conway was all too happy to stop by and offer the following statement on the departure of her former best friend and tag team partner: "Let her [Vargas] enjoy her little break away from the company. Do you want to know why we didn't fire her skanky ass? It's because she wasn't worth wasting breath on, even to deliver those two little words on live TV. We are a fair administration, and with the list of names that have been fired in my husband's tenure all being attributed to little old me, my husband and I made the decision that we wouldn't fire her, that would look bad on us even though the whiny little ungrateful bitch probably deserved it, so we did the next best thing. We gave her a little extended holiday time, a chance to reflect on her mediocre career. It was the only reasonable way to help her...now she can go to Disneyland or drink Tequila on a beach somewhere and tell stories of how great she was in this business. I'm just glad she's gone and f**ked off out of my division and my company...even if it is only for now..."
