The cameras swoop around to the stage set up with the podium where NCW legends Adam Knite and Spike Kane are stood, either side of a podium dressed in tuxedos. There are a few signs in the crowd celebrating the fact that The Ace has made it into the New Championship Wrestling Hall Of Fame with signs such as 'Hall of FameAcer 2013' and 'The Ace is in the HOF Place!'
Adam Knite steps forward on to the red carpet first.
Adam Knite: Where do I begin? The Ace was one of the fiercest competitors I’ve ever had the pleasure of being in the ring with... he may have never beaten me...
Adam gets a laugh from the crowd.
Adam Knite: speaking of which... Hi, Spike.
Another bit of laughter as Adam turns to look at Spike now.
Adam Knite: But in all seriousness, Jake really was one of the best wrestlers I personally ever faced and that is really saying something. When you saw your name on the card and saw that you were going to be facing The Ace you knew that second you’d better be ready to give an extra 10% to the match. If you believed in that tired cliche of always giving 110, then you’d better be ready to go 120 that week or you were going to lose. Of all the competitors I have faced over the years I think Ace was the one I wanted to beat the most each and every time we squared off, because defeating him meant a lot when it came to viewing your personal skill level, if you could walk into that ring with that man and walk out with your arm raised, you knew you had accomplished something.
Adam pauses with a grin.
Adam Knite: And also man... I hated that son of a bitch...
Wild laughter erupts from the crowd.
Adam Knite: I mean, i wanted to ring his damn neck every week it seems. We pushed each other every time we faced to be better and better, we tormented each other with insults of being a parrot and terrible puns, we gave each other hell and somehow through all that, through that intense hatred at some point, we both grew to respect each other. There are very few people in this business that I respect with every ounce of my being... and Jake Conway... he’s one of those people, he’s one of the truly great wrestlers NCW has ever seen. No matter what you thought about him, no matter how you felt about that man.... you knew he had the talent and the will to win any match he wanted on any given week.
Adam smiles as he scans the crowd and nods his head up and down.
Adam Knite: That’s why it’s my sincere honor to be here today to help induct The Ace into the Hall of Fame. This really is a long time coming and I wish he wouldn’t have had to wait so long to have his moment but at least late is better than never.
Adam pauses.
Adam Knite: Jake is a loudmouth, egotistical, know it all jack ass who deserves to be punched right in the kidneys.... and it’s been a true privilege to have known him these past six years. He really does deserve this and after all our fights... I’m glad that I can see his name beside mine in the Hall of Fame, you earned it, and I’m even more glad that through it all in some weird way we’ve come to call each other friends.
Adam then gives way to Spike Kane who steps forward.
Spike Kane: Thank you Adam. As most of you know, I don't get dressed up very often, but for one man these suits seem to be a way of life. It is no secret the man we're inducting here tonight likes to think of himself as James Bond after all.
Spike grins.
Spike Kane: You know, what can I say about The Ace? I could tell you about all the things we've been through professionally. I could tell you about the epic fueds and matches we've had over the last decade. I could tell you all about the man who revolutionized the Dragon's Den Match and innovated the House Rules and Natural Selection Matches. I could tell you all about the 29 year old I recruited from the British independent wrestling scene ten years ago. I could tell you all that about The Ace, or I could tell you all about Jake Conway. The man I've known and had the honor of calling a friend for the past twelve years. That is the man we honor here tonight as he takes his rightful and well deserved place among the elites of New Championship Wrestling. I may have nurtured the talent and raw potential of the competitor that Jake has become today, but I could not replicate the kind of man he is when the cameras stop rolling. He is the most devoted father and husband I know...but then, look at his wife and I think its pretty obvious to see why.
There is laughter from some of the crowd as Spike grins.
Spike Kane: Hey, all I'm saying is she's pretty, alright? Even after I dropped her on her head...
More laughter from the crowd as we pan round to see a few faces recognizable faces in the crowd, Caleb Lockwood, Tiffany Jones, Roberto Verona, Hannah Reed, Xander Famularo, Jenny Williams, Andrew Jacobsen and Danielle Chase.
Spike Kane: But seriously folks, without further to do, please help Adam and I welcome onto the stage, the newest inductee into the New Championship Wrestling Hall of Fame...The Apex of Evolution...THE ACE!!!
Adam and Spike gesture to the entrance way.
"You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell hits the sound system as The Ace's titantron plays and the crowd erupt into massive cheers as The Ace appears on stage, escorted by Emma Danielson on his right arm who is wearing a dazzling green dress, and Callie Jacobsen on his left arm who is wearing a stunning purple dress. The Ace himself has his hair tied back into a neat ponytail and is wearing a tuxedo. He reaches the podium and first shakes hands and embraces Adam Knight on the left, and then turns to his right and embraces his long time friend Michael Kane in an unashamed hug as some words we are not are exchanged between the two men. The camera takes particular note of the Hall of Fame ring on The Ace's finger during the embrace.
The Ace then steps up to the podium and adjusts his bow tie as he waits for the roaring crowd to settle down and his music to fade. After a few moments, The Ace looks out to the sea of faces before him and begins to speak.
The Ace: Well, who'd have thought it'd come to this? Certainly not me, I can tell you that much. The Ace finally has his Hall of Fame place and all it took to get it was the closure of this great company...
There is some booing at this and a chant of N-C-Dub starts up.
The Ace: I know, I know, it sucks, but in all seriousness folks, I couldn't feel any more honored, privileged or humbled than I do here tonight in front of all of you. The people who have supported me, even when you were booing me out of the damn building. That's the kind of reaction we live for as wrestlers, we feed off your passion every night and without each and every one of you, there would be no New Championship Wrestling and there certainly wouldn't be The Ace...so thank you. Thank you. All of you...
The crowd pops.
The Ace: I cannot even begin to thank each and every one of you here tonight, so I'll just say that you're all on a very long list of people I would like to thank here tonight personally. Also on that list is Adam and Michael. Thank you Adam for giving me some of the most memorable matches of my career, and since you brought it up, how about we give these people one more match before the doors of NCW close, huh?
The crowd explode at the suggestion and chant 'One More Match!'
The Ace: You see they want it. I want it. Think about it and get back to me with a time and a place and whilst you're thinking about it, let me thank the guy who brought me into this business in the first place. Thank you Mike for giving me the opportunity you did ten years ago. Thank you to both of you guys for agreeing to induct me. It really means a lot to me. But at the very top of my list, in every sense of the word, and how could she not be is the woman who has supported me and been by my side these last five years. She has believed in me every step of the way. She has been my rock and my salvation more times than I can remember and if it wasn't for this great company, our paths may have never crossed again. I may have never reunited with the love of my life and I may...have never gotten to know my beautiful daughter...my little Ace of Diamonds...Soli...
The Ace pauses, clearly overcome with emotion as evidenced by the tears in his eyes.
The Ace: So thank you to my beautiful wife Kathy. Thank you for giving me two wonderful daughters, thank you for giving me a second chance at being the husband you deserve and the father Soli and Min need, but most of all babe, thank you for saving me from the man I could have become if I had stayed on the same road I was on when we met seven years ago. Thank you for being exactly who you are, and though you have changed me and made me a better man, I hope you never change...
The Ace pauses again, holding back the emotion.
The Ace: There is...there is another woman I'd like to thank here tonight. a woman just as important and influential to my life as Kathy, you see whilst Kathy brought be back to the world and inspired me to live again, this woman, my mother brought me into the world and gave me life. She supported me when I told her that I wanted to try this crazy thing called professional wrestling. It isn't the most natural transition for one to make from the simple son of a construction worker with a penchant for cards and games of chance to budding scientist who wanted to save the world to professional wrestler, yet here we are today. The course of my life has never run smooth, but damn if it hasn't been one hell of a ride ladies and gentlemen, and the best part of it is...it isn't over yet.
The crowd cheer at this.
The Ace: I've won the World Championship, I've won the Road To The Gold, I've even won the Triple Crown, but this ring, this Hall Of Fame ring...
The camera zooms in on the ring for a moment.
The Ace: ...completes an epic trilogy in my life that has been defined by three rings. There may not be any wizards or dwarves in this story, but damn it if it all doesn't still feel like one hell of a fantasy. There's the wrestling ring, this Hall of Fame ring and of course the one ring to rule them all...my wedding ring...Roberto Verona bet me one hundred dollars that I couldn't work a geeky reference into my speech...now he owes me even more money...
The crowd laugh as the camera focuses in on Roberto solemnly nodding.
The Ace: God bless you all, thank you, and remember, I don't care if you stop loving me as long as you never stop loving each other...
"You Know My Name" hits again as The Ace steps back from the podium and we see The Ace's mother, father and two brothers, Richard and Jason emerge on stage, and Jake embraces each of them on stage, before his wife Kathy emerges on the stage in a sexy blue dress with a slit up one side. She is leading their eldest daughter by the hand and carrying the youngest on her hip.
Jake kneels down and shares a lengthy embrace with his daughter, before picking her up and kissing his other daughter on the forehead. He then puts Solitaire down and embraces his wife in a lengthy passionate kiss in front of the cheering crowd before the whole family turn and all wave to the crowd.
Adam Knite steps forward on to the red carpet first.
Adam Knite: Where do I begin? The Ace was one of the fiercest competitors I’ve ever had the pleasure of being in the ring with... he may have never beaten me...
