“Gib... I’m sorry.”
[Simon lays on the top bunk of he and Gib’s bunk bed staring up at the ceiling as he softly speaks to the giant of a beast-man that lays on the lower bed.]
“I didn’t mean for all this to happen... I’m an idiot.”
“Yea. No ****.”
[Simon stays silent for a second as he soaks in the wise words of Gib, he wonders to himself when the hammer is going to come down on him, but he feels like he has to clear the air before Gib gets his revenge and hopefully try to calm some of that rage prematurely.]
“If you want me to leave, I’ll understand.”
“Shut up.”
“No I’m serious, this is all my fault. I....”
“And I’m serious. Shut your pussy talk up. Sweet tap dancing jesus on a pogo stick grow a sack Simon. We only have two weeks of this left anyway... Now be a ****ing man.”
[He doesn’t reply for several seconds as he just thinks about what Gib has just said.]
“Ouch.”
“What?”
“That was harsh.”
“Yeah? Well get over it. You’re not the one who ‘lost’ a daughter.”
[Gib rolls out of the bed and heads towards the door and storms out without even attempting to say where he’s going. Simon closes his eyes as he lays there, unmoving.]
-----NOT LONG LATER-----
[Simon is standing in he and Gib’s bedroom now, Gib hasn’t been back for a few hours and the lights are on as Simon paces the room. He doesn’t expect Gib back, but clearly something is on his mind. He has his phone and brings it to his ear and begins to talk.]
“Hey Adam. This is Simon...”
~...~
“No wait, don’t hang up... please.”
~She doesn’t want to talk to you.~
“I need to, I have to.”
~Too bad. She’s on a date with Cross.~
“Whh... what?”
~You think she wasn’t going to go out and try to be happy, think she was just going to lay around all day eating her pain away at the loss of YOU?~
“I don’t know... I mean of course not... But... how could you let your sister be with that old douche?”
~See. I don’t care who she’s with as long as they treat her right. I’ve never cared as long as she was happy. She hasn’t had the best life Simon, I’ve done everything in my power to make sure she was happy after I pulled her away from my father... and you come along and start making her feel like nothing more than trash again.~
“I know, but I’m just dumb, I really do care about her it’s just my mouth gets ahead of me when I’m angry, I have feelings too you know and she just disregarded them.”
~Let me make this clear. I don’t give a damn. I only care about what she wants, what will make my little sister smile. That’s what you fail to understand here, you didn’t read a suicide note scrawled in your little sister’s handwriting, you didn’t see the bruises on her body the day I took her away from our father... I will do whatever it takes to make sure she isn’t hurt by somebody like you, I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure she never feels that kind of pain again. If Cross can make her laugh, smile and be genuinely happy then I don’t care about you. In fact I’m overjoyed by the fact that she’s having such a great time being with one of my good friends, Xavier. Maybe you should just move on and let her do the same?~
“I can’t just let her go!”
~Then I don’t know what to tell you.~
“Thanks a ton Adam.”
~Anytime.~
[Simon hangs up the phone and falls backwards to the wall where he leans against it with his head in the palms of his hands. The camera comes in close and moves his hands away and looks into the camera angrily.]
“None of this would have ever happened... if it wasn’t for that ****ing Rob Diamond... If he would have just left us alone... if he would have just not gotten involved.... I swear to God... I will... I will ”
[Simon snarls and evil grin as he breathes heavily into the camera, letting the hate flow through his body at just the thought of Rob Diamond. We fade to black as he smiles devilishly at the camera clenching his fists together.]
