So after two official rate the wrestler threads we now have a new leader in the overall scores with Bret Hart scoring an obvious 90 from all you mother canuckers.
Overall Leaderboard: 1. Bret Hart (90) 2. Diamond Dallas Page (73)
Next up, as voted by all of us, is the one and only Mister Money in the Bank himself. CM Punk! I'd wish Mr. Punk luck but we all know what he'd say to me anyways. So...knock yourselvs out.

Yes a 9.mother****eing-5.
CM Punk caught my attention several years ago when I dipped my toes into TNA, or indie feds in general. I loved the fact he used the pedigree and made it so much better than Triple H, and of course being a Raven fan I LOVED their fued.
Now today, Punk is verging on making it big in WWE, the crowd is fully behind him. His wrestling speaks for itself drawing on several different styles and influences, and for those who havent seen is mic work I feel sorry for you.
Punk is gold on the mic, from his Straight Edge rants, to his heelish insults. Even the stuff he did in OVW was awesome. In my mind WWe needs to give punk air time, rather than wasting it on people like Hardy.
Punk is also a brilliant role model and he's a wrestler I'd gladly let me kids watch (where I to have any) his straight edge lifestlye inspired me to attempt it myself. Nowadays for my own health I live it, but I'm just one of millions.
Punk is probably the internets favourite WWE wrestler, for a reason. At the moment we all want him to hit it big, but not so they'll crush him. Punk is a major prospect for the future....and is one of the main reasons I still watch WWE, however irrgularly.
BTW - if they job him out of the MITB I'm gonna be pissed.

This shouldn't come as a shock to nearly anyone on this board. 10
Seriously, I'm probably the biggest CM Punk fan on this board. Where to start though. I have tons of his stuff ranging from 2002 to more present day. He's come a very long ways as far as his in ring work goes. I have his match with Eddie Guerrero from IWA Mid South and it's was pretty middle of the road. Then his match against Colt Cabana at Ring of Honor's Final Battle 2002 was also just kinda meh but there was something about him even then, you could tell he was gonna be huge in the future.
Then came his feud with Raven. The Punk/Raven feud pretty much turned him into a huge sensation for getting some of the best matches of Raven's late career out of him. From their first match at Expect the Unexpected to their cage match at The Conclusion, it seemed that everyone wanted to see Raven just annihilate this cocky straight edge kid for preaching his ways down their throats every single night. Punk's promos from his feud with Raven, which spanned into England a few times even were out of this world for an independent wrestler or even someone up in the 'E.
His charisma is pretty undeniable as he's pretty much gotten over without saying too much in his time in the bigs. I mean, Ricky Steamboat and Mick Foley went to Vince about this guy. That's saying something. A wrestling legend and a promo master both going to the head of the wrestling world about a straight edge kid is pretty ***damn amazing.
Then there are his matches against Samoa Joe which were pretty great in their own right. Their hour draws at World Title Classic and Joe vs. Punk II are great themselves but the third and final match at All Star Extravaganza II is probably their best. However, they aren't for anyone who hates long matches with tons of mat work.
His feud with Jimmy Rave was set up so much like his feud with Raven, just this time, he was in the role of Raven. Rave was trying to make his name off of CM Punk and he pretty well did. After Punk was done with Rave, he finally moved onto his ultimate goal, the Ring of Honor World Title.
It was supposed to be his last night at Death Before Dishonor III when he faced Austin Aries for the World Title. But something happened that no one saw coming. Punk won the World Title and turned heel, perhaps the biggest one RoH had ever seen to that point and maybe this day. He turned heel, saying he was toying with everyone in the crowd and proclaimed to be the greatest wrestler in RoH.
His heel work while World Champion was out of this world as he plays a GREAT cowardly heel. See most of his FIP work for that. Once he lost the title to James Gibson, it was time for him to say goodbye the next night as he did it by facing his first RoH opponent and best friend, Colt Cabana. Punk's last entrance is nothing short of great. It's one of the few times I've seen a wrestler legit cry over leaving a promotion.
So, in order to really understand CM Punk, his RoH work, as well as some of his IWA MS, FIP and PWG work are nearly a must see. You just can't judge CM Punk on his WWECW work alone as it's totally different. In Ring of Honor, he was allowed to have a voice to cut promos, he was allowed to wrestle his style of making it a long, drawn out one. Hell, watch "When Hero Met Punk" from IWA MS that went 93 minutes.
But when you just look back at the total career of CM Punk, it's nothing short of phenomenal. Sure he's had stinkers in the ring but what wrestler hasn't? It's all about connecting to the crowd and making people care about you and CM Punk has done a masterful job about that. That's why he is one of the greatest wrestlers and entertainers currently in the wrestling business today. Plus, like Spike said, being straight edge is a great message for kids.

He's a great wrestler, and what I hear he can be pretty good on the mic. He's got great charisma, that's probably his best asset since that really covers up any short comings you might have, and Punk doesn't have many from what I've seen.
He's on the cusps of being great, but IMO he's not there yet.

When I see CM Punk I just gotta stop and see what he is doing. He just has that instant draw factor for me. From what I understand he has great mic work and thats a nessesity these days. Plus the chrarisma and lets not forget about the actual talent that the true punker has to offer.
Plus I also think that he helped John Morrison to become a better in ring wrestler during there feud.
CM Punk is a wrestlers wrestler. And rapidlly becomeing one of my new personal favorites.

9 The ONLY reason I even half-out-of-one-eye watch WWECW. His work in ROH I didn't get to see as it happened, but I've seen enough on Youtube and Google Video to say this: Punk is one of the best young wrestlers out there. You got Punk looking to be a man who'll be in the WWE ME circle for some time. The ONLY thing they need to do is get him off WWECW. Though, If they did, they'd lose that hunk of crap faster than a blind man with a hand full of sand. He's got great potential, and is able to do everything he needs to do to be a big name. He's got mic skills, too bad WWE won't let him on the mic; he's got ring skills on mat, in brawl, and in the air; and he's got charisma out the ass. And he's got the same dark circles under his eyes that Dusty Rhodes has always had He's on his way up.

7 - I'm not the biggest Punk fan but I can respect his work, I never got into ROH or whereever else he was known to wrestle, but I can see he is being held back in WWE, hopefully this MITB win will get him moved to Raw to hang with the big boys...

7.
You cannot take his work in WWE as what he is truly capable of. The restrictions he and all other performers in WWE face just downgrade their true talent.
I like CM Punk, but I don't consider him -amazing-. Straight-edge? Yeah. Cool. It's better than The Godfather inspiring kids to be pimps! Heh. If you watch Punk's older matches, you'll see a pretty dang good wrestler. You'll still see that in WWE, but you've got to admit it was a good move to sign on with VKM.
Regardless, he only gets a 7 from me.

I rate CM Punk a 8 cause of how the WWE has held him back quite a bit. Have seen him live in a NWA Mid-West show where he gave the Pepsi Plunge to AJ Styles on the topr rope and the ring broke. That was on the best matches have seen him in.

20 as a heel. 10 as a face.
He is better as a heel, but I love his work. Just an AMAZING mat technician. He could probably make freaking Khali look good.
