I don't need a long speech for AJ Styles. He has been one of my favorites for a long time, and he is my single favorite TNA/ROH guy. So, a solid 9

Where to start about AJ Styles... this is a toughie. If you would have asked me about three years ago, I would have gave him a higher score but in the past two years that I really began to watch his stuff on a more consistent basis, I can safely say he is one of the most overrated workers in the wrestling industry today, second only to Kurt Angle but I'm sure that's gonna be a different story for a different week.
AJ really got his start back when hitting tons of meaningless spots was the cool thing to do, which was around early 00's. He caught on because of the people he would work with. Christopher Daniels, Low Ki when he cared, Jerry Lynn (who was also spot based but he knew how to slow it down) and so on. Most of his X Division work is based upon the fact that it's about no limits and zero psychology most of the time.
Take one of his matches in the X Division and put them up to his stuff against the larger wrestlers in TNA, I always thought his work in the Heavyweight division tore the s**t out of his X Division stuff because the bigger guys would at least force him to sell a beat, IE against Abyss which some of his best work was against (Tell me the match at Lockdown 2005 wasn't great.) Did AJ have something to do with it by his ability to sell the beating, yes but regardless.
His work in Ring of Honor was better but not by much. Most of his good stuff came against London and Danielson. His tag team work with the Amazing Red was so spotty, it's a wonder no one died in their series with the Briscoes.
Anyways, in my opinion, his best match came against Christopher Daniels at Bound For Glory 2005. Was it spotty, yes but it had a great story with history behind it and it was well executed. If Styles would preform on a level like that on a consistent basis instead of using that old sprint style that so many wrestlers are using in on the indy scene as well as TNA when they get the chance these days, he'd be better.
So that's what I think about AJ Styles, take it or leave it.

Work Rate: 7 Wrestling Ability: 8 Character: 9 Look/Voice: 6.5 Overness: 9 History: 8 Potential: 10 Finisher: 8
Overall Score: 8.2
AJ to me, is a wrestler who is somehow over-rated and under-rated at the same time...Puro Fans hate AJ with a passion, while marks love his spotty wrestling style...Now I admit, AJ is a ****ing spot monkey, but here me out...If you compare AJ to Early TNA to after that...He's improved by Leaps and bounds, yes he is still spotty, but it seems he is trying and starting to suceed and understanding fundamentals and everything, He will never fully gasp it, but atleast he is trying too.

Improving, not great, but good.
Nothing he has done that has really blown me away, but I somewhat enjoy his early RoH work, I dug the series between him/Red vs The Briscoes, and his match with London was, IMO, his best match.
Early TNA/Current TNA. My oh my, has he grown leaps and bounds, now that he has a character and now he gets mic time, he has really changed from Mr Bland, NWA World Champ. I'm not really a mark for his ring work, but if he is in a match, I'll check it out.
My Pick: Randy Orton

AJ Styles. I give him an 8.
Since I've started watching TNA full time, AJ has develped a character you love and hate at the same time. At least to me. On one hand, you want him to get Karen away from the semi abusive Angle, on the other, AJ has become a cry baby bitch. Which makes hima great heel. His wrestling is spotty, but entertaining non the less to me. Over all, if he's on, I'm watching. Him and Christian stole the show at Lockdown, and I look forward to him fighting Christian one on one some day soon.
Now for my pick, what kind of ass would I be if I didn't pick Kevin Thorn? So week 15, Kevin Thorn.

It's no secret I can enjoy an AJ Styles match, I do enjoy spotfests quite often, and in that kind of style, ala some of ROh and the TNa X-division it fits and he does it justice. Mic wrok? The guys sucks ass....it's his voice more than anything...I mean, christ when he fueded Rhino. He destroyed Rhino in a promo to me, just by saying the name "Rhino2 in that gay ass voice.
Time may tell on AJ as he continues to get better, but I think he's happy where he is.
My pick: Raven

I don't watch much wrestling. Combination of me not having access to it at home and being too lazy to find and get round to downloading stuff. But I know what I like and I can only comment on that.
AJ Styles is (from what I've seen) a sound worker. I like spots, they give me something where I can walk away and just remember 'Hey.. he did that.. that was cool'. But I guess if you're a regular viewer and every matrch is a spot fest it could get a bit tiresome. I remember thinking a number of times about Aj Styles matches 'that was cool'.. especially in his Ultimate X match with Rhyno or Rhino or however he spelt it at the time... when he actually lay down amidst the scaffolding and took a nap... that was cool, that made me laugh.
However what also made me laugh was exactly what Tyler/Spike said about his voice and the word Rhino. It's funny but it really shouldn't be. His mic work needs improving but he makes up for that just with attitude and his presence in the ring. People say he's over-rated or under-rated but the fact remains, when he's in the ring.. you and everyone else in the audience and in the ring know about it.
Overall... I'd say 7.5. Enjoyable but places where work is obviously required.
My Nomination: The Rock.

You have 24 hours left to vote, also if you have two accounts, be sure nominate someone for your other account.
If you do not pick a RTW for your week, a poll will be put up in it's place.
