I'm going to pick up a copy of Twilight Princess for the Gamecube soon, and I was wondering, is it good?
Compared to Ocarina of Time how does it stack up?
I know the Wii and Gamecube versions are mirror images, due to Link's sword hand, but are there any other differences? Like are there extras in the Wii version that I'll be missing the GC one?

As far as I'm aware (having played both) that's the only difference. The main reason to get it on the Wii was to use the interesting Wii controls, but it doesn't really matter.
It IS good, not too far behind Ocarina in my opinion, but even that is a very high standard.
Definatly worth the cash.

I was planning on getting for Gamecube regardless of anything extra, it's nice to know I won't be missing anything.

Yeah, the only different between the Wii and The Gamecube Version, is the controls and how Everything is in Reverse.
Like say if you need to go west to get to a castle or something in the Wii Version, You go to the East in the gamecube version.

Yeah, and I own both, and switching off between them is very hard. But, comparing Ocarina of Time to Twilight Princess isn't right...hell, comparing anything to Ocarina of Time isn't right. Twilight Princess is easily one of the best Zelda games there is, just behind Ocarina and Link To The Past in my opinion.

What do you mean isn't right? I think it's the perfect game to compare it to.
Firstly, it's a new direction for LoZ after the cel-shaded adventures, just like OoT was a new direction with true 3D. Secondly, game-size wise it's fairly similar. TP has only one dungeon less by my count (which could be wrong, it's been a while since I last played). And finally you've got the addition of a horse combat system. OoT introduced the bow, while TP introduces.. well.. everything else.
While OoT was damn good and very tough competition for any game, I personally believe TP is it's equal.. but at the same time understand why some people out there don't. It's like convincing a FFVII fan that FFVI or any other FF was better. Peoples is peoples and they're all entitled to their opinion.
In summary.. Adam, get the game. Easily worth the cash. And if you're a hardcore Zelda gamer like myself and Joe, you'll apreciate the same style controls of the GC version plus maintaining Link in his left handed Godliness.

I used to consider myself a huge Final Fantasy fan and if it came down to a battle between FF and Zelda I would have chosen FF, but after playing FF12, I'm starting to feel like Final Fantasy is letting me down. I considered myself a big Zelda fan, but now I think I'm ready to make the step to claiming it as my favorite game series.

Zelda has been my favorite game series since I was 3 I personally don't love FF, cause I like the obscure ones, with Tactics and Crystal Chronicals being my favorites, along with FFI and FFII. And Mr. Holland hit it right on the head...it was alot like OOT, and the controls are basically the exact same.

I don't remember when I first played it but I was somewhere between 8 and 10... loved it ever since and in fact I believe it was the series that started me on this crazy train called video gaming.
But something else that's awesome about TP that actually beats the crap out of OoT... Swordfighting.
I know what some people are thinking... what's changed really? You lock on, you jump around, you hit stuff either horizontally, vertically, thrusting, jump or spin attacking... right... right?
Wrong. TP has introduced so much more to swordplay it's untrue. I don't want to say too much because most of the skills are hidden techniques and I don't want to take anything away from the game in case you've not read about this stuff or whatever, but certain enemies are stronger or weaker against certain moves that you can do, plus the addition of the ability to actually hit your enemy with your shield for added realism!
Ocarina kicks ass.. but the more and more I look at TP and past the nostalgic charms and the 'it came first' facts of OoT the more I think that TP may not be just it's equal.. but it's superior.

No I haven't read anything about it, other than that the GC version is a mirrored version of the Wii one. I'm trying not to spoil anything.

Actually, the GC version is correct, the Wii version is mirrored

Actually, the GC version is correct, the Wii version is mirrored that still makes the GC version a mirror of the Wii version.... it's kinda a statement that goes both ways. But yeah, that's what I meant, since the GC uses the correct sword hand, which will really P me off if they make link right handed just because of the Wii's set up.
