A year ago this time the wrestling world was shocked, stunned, and rocked to its core, the deaths of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Beniot. When I heard the news, I was tuning into RAW and then I notced the tribute, and when I heard the news, I was... well, stunned. I ad to turn the channel and let it sink in, I had went the whole day without knowing, I hadnt logged on to the computer, nor I had I watched the news. So imagine to tune in and expect some entertainment and then WAM! You are hit the this... But, at the timt the details were few... who knew that in a mere 24 hours a man when from saint to the devil himself.
Tuesday rolls around and we earned what happened, Nancy and Daniel stranggled and Chris has hung himself. Now, I didnt WANT to believe that he had killed them so, I assumed that his wife and son were killed and he had hung himself out of misery. In this day and age, ANYTHING is possible. So then the facts run out and wow, the wrestling community, turned into mini Gods as they comndemed this man's souls to hell.
Now, dont get me wrong, what he did was wrong, but something... something, wasnt right. I reeked of Eddie's death. That is wa more than he just did what he did. To now know he was on a silppery slope, concussions,, drugs, steriods, and such. And to know, that WWE could, maybe, have prevented it, again maybe. After the events we get an improved Drug Policy, even weed is ont he bad list, ad looks, eventhough it has led to more suspensions since then... to know that the WWE is taking the right steps to fixing this problem is something I can look high on.
But... then I didnt like it, and I STILL dont like it. The erasing of Beniot from history. Now, some indy companines might still reference him (See BOLA '07), and some wrestling might still pull his moves (Rey, HBK, Davey Richards, etc.), it seems that the WWE has turned their backs to the porblem and just decided to think that he never existed. Beniot changed the game, he made it some,s maller wrestlers can make just as much impact as a big man. And if he doesnt it, would their be room for wrestlers like Bryan Danielson, Kurt Angle, FInlay and other, small technical wrestlers.
For the WWE to erase this man, but to have known drug addicts, alcholics, wife beaters, and overall scumbags (Stone Cold and Hogan at the ****ing top) get all this air time, and to ignore Beniot... what Vince should of done was to come out and say, 'While what he did was morally wrong and evil, we can't ignore what Beniot has done for the wrestling business'... to be honoest I'll be SHOCKED if they even mention it tonight on RAW.
And hey, I'll be shocked on the same day, Iw as shocked last year, but hey... that's just me.
