Ok, so... there's a lot to tell, of course, and while my only remaining wounds from the show are my sore foot from driving and my rug burns on my knee/elbow, I should tell it.
So we left Fergus Falls, MN, at about 1:30 PM to get to Mankato for the 6PM Show. We stopped in Alexandria about 2 so we could get Tim, my brother and accomplice, some stuff for his iPod, namely, a charger and tuner so we could listen to Psychostick using my radio.
We kinda skipped lunch, so we were getting kinda hungry by the time we hit St. Cloud, but it was almost 4PM and we knew if we were gonna get there on time, we needed to wait till we got to Mankato(little did we know...)
So we got off of 94, and went onto 169. We were fine with traffic for about the first five miles, then...the next five took us about an hour to get through. Yes, we sat an HOUR going less than 10 miles. Seriously, like we were so dead stopped, people were getting pissed and started driving on the shoulders. Though, I didn't hear a single horn honk, so that's kinda good, I guess, not as noisy.
But we get out of traffic at 5:30, and realize we're gonna be late. So I speed up to about 70 when the speed limit was 65. BUT as soon as I hit said speed we had to slow to 55, then 45, then 30 because we were going through one of the many small towns on the way. Now...there's probably like ONE f**kIN POLICE OFFICER for this town, of like, 700, but I slowed down, because everyone ahead of me, slowed down. So we got back up to 70 after leaving the town...only to run into another, and when we got back to 70 AGAIN it was another small f**king town in the middle of nowhere. So we spent half the way to Mankato speeding up and slowing down cuz of the towns in the way(great for gas...really...like I almost had nothin left after we got to my dorm after the concert).
So we get to Mankato at about 6:15, 6:20 PM. We're already late, and almost crashed thanks to my copilot telling me to turn one stop too early(so I had to quickly swerve from the exit back onto the highway, which is GREAT to do going from 55 to 0 and back to 55 in under half a minute and over gravel/grass). Now, we know we're late, and we know we're probably missing most of the opening band. We knew it would either be Powerglove or Look What I Did. FORTUNATELY for us, it was the latter, cuz Powerglove played great, but we aren't there yet. No, we took a RIGHT onto the street the place is on...only to drive two blocks and find out we are not only on the wrong side of town, but we are at a dead end. So we turn around, and get to the right part of town. We go over the whole "It's 701, so we gotta get to the 700 block". Unfortunately, we got to the 1200 block before realizing we weren't counting numbers. Then we went backwards...to about the 400 block. We turned around AGAIN and went SLOW so we could at least try to listen to hear the concert. So...we finally get to the parking lot, and it's 6:45, the first band was on their last song and we waltz in just in time to see them taking their gear down.
So we walk in, and right by the place we pay is the Psychostick Merch booth. Now, we were gonna get some swag anyway, but as soon as we walk up for swag, he talks about the t-shirt/t-shirt and CD deal they got. But wait, there's MORE. As soon as we got the shirts(I got the Jagermeister/Psychostick one while my brother got his Lizard Sphere X shirt), we get handed Jag Music Cds and told to pose for a picture. We pose, and try to give back the CD's, as we thought it was, you know, just posing, but apparently they were FREE, which was badass. So, since I was not liking having two shirts on at once, I ripped my shirts off(not literally, but you know) and wrapped the cds(all three, the jag and the Psychostick Holiday album we got with the shirts) in my original Shirt, while keeping on the Jag/Stick shirt.
So, while this was going on, Powerglove was setting up shop. We got a few quick pics of them setting up, though blurry they turned out since the camera we used SUCKED. But, I digress.
So they open up, first song they play is f**kin TETRIS METAL! Powerglove is a videogame metal band, and that is just SWEET. They kicked our asses, and I got into the pit multiple times. They played Zelda, Mega Man X(f**k that Bird!), Mario, Sonic(Robotnick is sexy), and the Tetris tune, for their set. Now...that was a f**kin sweet band so my brother and I, during the next soundcheck/setup go buy their two albums TOO. I put them with the shirt and the other stuff. I was gonna get ready to buy the Rawrb For President shirt I wanted, since the Death Burger ones were kid's sizes only(damn), when Psychostick hit the stage.
Now, by this point, I was pretty beat up from the pit, I got kinda rough in there during the Megaman tune and the Tetris one. And...of course, they open with "ABCDeath" and we go f**kin insane in the pit. During that song, I cracked the left of my face onto the back of someone's head pretty hard, and I'm surprised I didn't get a black eye or bruise. But...anyway...Psychostick played a badass set. Throwin Down, In a Band to Get Chicks, Orgasm=Love, Jag Love Song/Drowning Pool Parody(I can only count to...FOUR!!!), the Sombrero Prophecies, Shortest Song in the world, and BEER!(which since it was an all-ages show, we had to hold up and fake drink our shoes since we had no beer...).
As I said last time, I got involved in the Sombrero Prophecies fight/dance/game. For about 3/4 of the song, I had a hold of the sombrero. Now, I wasn't the only one with my hands on what remained of it at that time, there was three of us who were tossing each other around and tugging and pulling and rolling on the ground without giving up anything. Now, at the end, I was tired, and two of the other guys were tired, so the last guy with his hands on the hat ripped it from us, but left us with like, different pieces(I got like, 1/2 or 1/4 of the rim). And I fell backwards into Tim's feet, dropping the piece for a second, then he saw it as he picked me up and I grabbed the f**kin thing before he could get it...I f**king fought for it!
So, after the show we are informed, at like f**kin 9pm(hadn't eaten since noon...were REALLY f**kIN HUNGRY) that there was an encore local band to play. But...we left to chill with the bands(only actually managed to catch Psychostick) and took some pictures. One included me and my brother half-begging Rawrb to some pose with my POS car. Now...he honored us by saying "Looks like you should drive that thing into a ravine and film it." For those who don't know, that's one of the first lines of "Two Ton Paperweight", and we took a sorta blurry(bad camera, very bad camera) pic with me and him at the back of the POS. We also got the band to sign the Holiday album we got with the two t-shirts(Jimmy somehow...managed to seal the thing back up after they opened it and signed on the sleeve. He's magic).
So we managed to hit BK Lounge on our way outta town, had to like, listen REALLY carefully to the lady since our ears were still ringing. But...we drove the hour or so back to my dorm and just f**kin crashed. In the morning, still sore as hell, we took pics of my wounds, since my ones were more pronounced and visible at the time. We showered, brushed our teeth, ate at chipotle and chilled in Barnes and noble for an hour. But...it was an hour too long cuz we got...f**kin STUCK IN TRAFFIC AGAIN!
Oh, f**k, I almost forgot: When Psychostick Played their song "I hate Doing Laundry" they asked the audience for some hate. Ex Boyfriends was one, I can't remember some of the others, cuz it was so f**kin loud, but the last one, someone tried saying something bout "Gabe" and Rawrb and Josh were like "That's not cool, someone else got a better one?" And I had been raising my hand and bein loud the whole time, and they finally took my "Traffic" one...apparently they got stuck for 3 hours between Louisiana and Texas, so they hated traffic pretty badly too. And...a lot of other people hated traffic...and the next day, I STILL f**kING HATED TRAFFIC!!!
So, we get stuck in traffic...that turns into a f**kin nasty thunderstorm where we couldn't see the cars in front of us cuz of the rain(so traffic, of course, was not our only problem). But when we FINALLY drove out of the storm we had to take a snack break, so we grabbed some brats in Clearwater's big Travel Plaza. So...we managed to drive my brother home without much more rain or trouble. The only problem I really had was some sprinkles and high winds on the leg back to Fergus...but all in all, it was probably one of the coolest things I've done in a very long time. And the first concert since the Halloween 04 Van Halen(Van Hagar to some) concert in Fargo where I actually got involved in a mosh pit(granted the Van Halen one was a lot more gentle...and was only their cover of "You Really Got Me".)
So, we had fun...and I still think Candice is super pissed at my brother and I for going without her...but we kinda did say she had to pay her way if she wanted to come...and it was only 7 bucks, so..not our fault she didn't have money to help. I mean, sure, I owe my brother Tim a bit of stuff now, but after all the running around I did for him when he was in HS with his girlfriends, we're actually kinda close as far as payback goes...kinda...just another couple favors/gifts or so. But if he didn't have me, he wouldn't have been able to go anyway, nobody else wanted to drive him...which, you know, I wanted to go too so it worked out. I mean, we kinda hadn't done much brotherly bonding trips in quite some time, so we took that opportunity to get into the pit and lose our hearing to Powerglove and Psychostick.
And...of course...my right foot is still really f**kin sore from driving...and getting stomped on a bit in the mosh pit...but mostly driving.
