Yup, both. (Authors note: THIS IS WAY TOO LONG)
I'll sum up FNR4 in one two sentences:
I can't even play the damn thing. My harddrive isn't compatible with the game, say sayeth EA.
Yup, seriously, EA has put up this announcement on their webiste saying that there is a "rare" game out there that your harddrive will NOT read. The game will freeze upon the first screen. I did manage to play it, but I had to REMOVE my harddrive, thus ending any online, or even career mode gameplay. So, limited to only "fight now" I played the Ali-Tyson match, and KO'd Tyson in the 8th, however, the Total punch control is horribly re-done, I kept wanting to work the body, and ended up going for head uppercuts or missing by a mile with a short body hook. I couldn't use Ali's speed as you have to flick the controller and he'll strafe, so often I used the "push' feature, which replaced the taunt, to create space. I did find myself almost knocked out by a tyson uppercut, due to the fact the game didn't let me clinch.
Overall: 5/10 This game could have been great, but alas, EA messes up another franchise.
But onto the main event.
I pop in UFC, and I jump into career mode, making myself, as a heavyweight, using boxing and wrestling.
Here's my career match-ups, [Playing all on expert]
1: vs. Shinji Takada: My tryout match is uneventful I win by decision due to takedowns and gaining mount in both rounds. [1-0]
2: vs Mark Emerson: I get the hang off the game at this point, and finish the fight in the 2nd via KO [2-0]
3: vs. Ivan Heleno: I crush Ivan and suffocate him in round 1, and finish early round 2 via KO [3-0]
4: vs. Damon Blaine: At this point, I hadn't sparred at all, and just went to one camp for my training, Damon catches me with a left hook in round 3 and I suffer my fist loss. [3-1]
5: vs. Mark Coleman: I first discover that Mark Coleman is a better wrestler when he slams me repeatedly, but I recover and win by decision. [4-1]
6: vs. Mirko Cro Cop: I am headkicked into oblivion by Cro Cop, with his combo on low kick-high kick, I'm still anticipating the double low kick. Loss. [4-2]
7: vs. Tyson Mayfield: I get back in the win column when I smash Tyson in round 1 [5-2]
8: vs. Mark Coleman II : Coleman avenges his loss by pounding me in round 1 [5-3]
9: vs Rich Caldwell: I get a big win via 2nd round via KO [GNP] [6-3]

12: vs.Tyson Mayfield: This time Tyson lasts til round two, but my ground and pound is nasty [8-4]
13:vs. Mirko Cro Cop III: You guessed it. I am so angry at losing again. 0-3 vs. Mirko [9-5]
14: vs. Mark Coleman III: I take out my frustrations on Coleman ending it with a round 1 KO [10-5]
15: vs. Antoni Hardonk: I fall in love with a takedown and almost get choked out, but survive, and win in the 2nd via ko [11-5]
16: vs. Eddie Sanchez II: Different fight, Same result I'm rolling now [12-5]
17:vs. Brandon Vera: Vera embarasses me, KO in 41 seconds [12-6]
18: vs. Mirko Cro Cop IV: I get my revenge, finally! I KO Mirko with groud and pound: [13-6]
19: vs. Mirko Crop Cop V: I take this fight early also, and enjoy beating Mirko Again. [14-6]
20: Febricio Werdum: I am introduced to Werdum's submission game, it's painfull. [14-7]
21: vs. Heath Herring: I try out the submission game, and tap out Herring in 1 min 54 seconds [15-7]
22: vs. Gabriel Gonzaga: I earn Submission of the night, tapping out Gonzaga in 1 minute, 40 seconds [16-7]
23: vs. Andrei Arlovski: Andrei pummels me. I'm lucky I got to round 2. [16-8]
24: vs. Justin McCally: Another submission victory, although it takes longer [17-8]
25: vs. Ferbricio Werdum II: Ferbricio almost cripples me. Submission loss [17-9]
26: vs. Brandon Vera II: I take Vera down, Mount, and it's game over via submission. [18-9]
27: vs. Febricio Werdum III: I smother him for 3 rounds, and earn a unanimous decision. [19-9]
28: vs. Heath Herring II: I get sloppy, and he knees me in the face while I go for a takedown, and I'm out. [19-10]
29: Febricio Werdum IV: This time, I keep the fight standing up, and a vicious hook ko's him in the 2nd [20-10]
20: vs. Cain Velazquez: A quick KO, and I'm rolling again. [21-10]
21: vs. Nog: I have my first real test, but I KO with Ground and Pound [22-10]
22: vs. Frank Mir: Mir constantly goes for submissions, turing me into a button masher. I survive, and KO him in the 3rd [23-10]
23: vs. Cheick Kongo: I take Kongo down, and work him over and KO him in the 2nd. [24-10]
24: vs. Tim Sylvia: It's UFC 167, and I'm getting a shot at the title, I bum rush Tim, keep up the pressure, and TKO him in the 3rd to win the UFC Heavyweight title. [25-10]
25: vs. Brock Lesnar: My first defense proves ridicilously hard, Lesnar slams me all over, and nearly finished me with a suplex, I recover, reverse his mount [by sheer luck] and mount him and finish the fight in the 4th. [ 26-10]
26: vs. Andrei Arlovski: I avenge my loss and KO Arlovski in the 1st with ground and pound [27-10]
27: vs. Cheick Kongo: Kongo pounds me out, but I counter a punch and submit him with an armbar. [28-10]
28: vs. Nog II: I have a 9 fight win streak on the line as well, but Nog is ready, and nearly breaks my leg with a heel hook. I lose my title [28-11]
29: vs. Andrei Arlovski: It's my final fight in the UFC, and I'm looking to go out with a bang. Instead, Arlovski counters my takedown with a gullotine, and chokes me out in the 1st. [28-12]
Thus my career ends, and I get 4 Submission of the night awards, and 4 K.O. of the night awards, [Emerson, Heleno, Velasquz, Lesnar] t finish either pratice to the 3rd level, and no F.O.T.N. awards. And I don't make the HOF. I was more interested in fighting than training for them, sometimes taking 4 weeks of rest, and did very little sparring. I learned the hard way about it all, But dispite this, I did have a 9-fight win streak.
I find there are certain cheap characters like Mir for Heavyweights, but I discover even more as I progress. I change levels and fight as a middleweight, welterweight, and light heavyweight capturing 2 of those 3, I have yet to take Middleweight, as there are a couple of guys who are almost unbeatable [Richardo Almieda, Thales Lites]
The big problem this game suffers from, is well, It can be montonous, and it's irritating to train over and over again. and the submission game is ****ing hard. aside from that, I enjoy the expierence.
HOWEVER, Playing online yields even more suprises. I am introduced by the modded controller as I am submitted by RAMPAGE. I notice that those with mods constantly go for submissions no matter the time, or what positions they are in. Many folks tend to quit if they lose, and nullifys the whole match, hopefully the UFC servers fix this issue
Overall : 8/10
