Flair > Hogan...
Hogan was great and popular and all...but he really hasn't done as much behind the scenes to help out and train new guys over the last 40 or so years...like Flair has.

Sure Hogan brought the sport to the popularity and recognition it is today by virtue of his Proud American gimmick, but in terms of actual wrestling prowess it has to be flair...

I agree with X on Macho Man. And where is HBK and Bret Hart? But greatest of all time between these two, I'd have to give it to Hogan. Without him, wrestling wouldn't be anywhere near as popular as it is now. And he's done just about everything, even a music album! And he'd be recognized anywhere in the world. So if it's greatest of all time to professional wrestling, it's Hogan. If you were to say better wrestler, it's Flair, but neither of them are close to the best wrestler of all time. But great wrestlers don't sell seats for long periods of time.

Yeah Hogan was popular... but you know what Vanilla ice was popular, as was MC Hammer, would they be consider GOAT, hell no.
I give it to Flair, because the man at 60 had a Match of the Year w/ HBK at WM... yea... win.

HBK had a great match with the Hulkster, and a broken Undertaker, and John Cena. So this clearly proves HBK is the greatest of all time.

Well, I'm gonna break it down in some long winded explaination, so here we go...{If your not interested, skip it to the bottom}
Well, in debating the Greatest Wrestler of all time, it really depends on what the criteria is.
In terms of acutal skill, Ric Flair is arguably the greatest wrestler ever.
In terms of influence of audience, Hogan wins hands down.
But even those two critera are arugeable.
Flair may be the greatest televised wrestler, but nobody was around to see Frank Gotch, Lou Thez, Buddy Rodgers, or Pat O' Connor, or George Hackensmit. And nobody filmed them. [Minus Thez and Buddy Rodgers]
In terms of popularity and influence, Hulk Hogan has since lost that moniker to The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Both supasses anything Hulk Hogan ever drew, but Hogan was the first to take pro wrestling to the mainstream audience. Bt even before him, Georgous George drew thousands to watch him get beat up.
So, basing everything possible, I broken it down into 4 categories:
Wrestling Skill, Charisma, Business acumen, and Influence.
Ric Flair has the edge in two , and I would give Hogan the edge in two.
Pros: Ric Flair:Flair is hands down a better wrestler, With so many classic matches he nedded three DVD's to list part of them. H is a 16-time heavyweight champion of the world, and at a time when the NWA was the top of the food chain, Flair carried the ball. Flair and far more willing to put over the new talent, because he realizes for there to be a buisness, the next generation of wrestlers has to be born. Ric Flair is also the biggest influence on actual wrestlers as opposed to just fans. There is no younger wrestler who has ever been interviewed [aside from those who don't like him] that hasn't named Ric Flair as an influence. The man made Batista and Randy Orton superstars, along with Sting, Lex Luger, Barry Windam, Steve Austin, & Brian Pillman and many others I can name.
Hulk Hogan: Hulk Hogan has far more Infulence on fans, and has buckets of charisma to spare. Unlike many before him, Hogan could verbalize what he was going to do and not just go out and mix it up with the boys in the ring. Hogan made wrestling popular to a mainstream audience, the "Rock-N-Wrestling" connection had everyone talking about pro wrestling, even those who weren't exactly fans. When Hulkamaina ran wild, it ran everywhere, there's probably not too many people who don't know the name Hulk Hogan. He introduced millions upon millions of a generation of people the pro wrestling, and popularized it to a degree that it stood the test of time for nearly a decade. No one has come close to that feat. Hogan did the right thing many times [or at least at the time they were right] by putting over guys like Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar & The Ultimate Warrior.
Cons: Ric Flair: Flair just wasn't mainstream enough to have many fans outside of the Carolinas, and the south belt that NWA Mid-Atlantic swept through. Unlike Hogan, there are places you can go and no one has ever heard of Ric Flair. Flair also worked heel for most of his career, in which case it's harder to be a fan of a guy your supposed to hate. It took many of those DVD's to re-introduce Flair and all the great matches he had, because until then, many people has either never seen, or had forgotten about Ric Flair.
Hulk Hogan: Hogan is, by the statements of several wrestlers in the business, in it for himself, and a huge ego-maniac. He has a well deserved ego, but also a destructive one. Hogan, as well as Flair, and all the other egos that ran WCW in the mid to late 90's caused the mighty company's downfall, along with the Time Warner/AOL not wanting wrestling on their channel. Hogan has been known to have an unwillingness to job to younger talent, the like of Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, & Jeff Jarrett have all felt the "creative control" power of the Hulkster.
So, in the end, who is better?
Well in a head to head debate of Flair and Hogan, in terms of Skill,& influence, Flair is the decisive winner
in terms of Charisma Hogan reins supreme.
You can call Business acume a draw, Hogan drew more fans, Flair created more wrestlers.
So, out of Four, Ric Flair wins 2 to 1, with a category draw.
So in conclusion: Ric Flair is the greatest wrestler of all time.
Well, there you have it, a lot of nonsense to answer a simple matter of opinion question.
*BONUS*
Ricky's Top 10 wrestlers of all time:
1) Ric Flair 2)Shawn Michaels 3) The Undertaker 4)Bret "Hitman" Hart 5)"Macho Man" Randy Savage 6) Andre The Giant 7) Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat 8) Harley Race 9) Rowdy Roddy Piper 10) Eddie Guerrero
*Honorable mention* 11)Hulk Hogan 12)Stone Cole Steve Austin 13)Sting 14)Bam Bam Bigelow 15)Owen Hart 16) Mick Foley [As Cactus Jack] 17)Vader 18)Rob Van Dam 19)Kurt Angle 20)Chris Benoit
and....I'm done.

something tells me this poll will never be "won" by anyone for a very long time...we're a pretty even split...those who pick flair picked him cuz he's the overall better wrestler, and did more to help get new guys up to his level. And without Hogan there would be no "superstars" that did a lot of mic stuff and had charisma like Rock, Austin, etc.
But I still think Flair is best...but when we do a 2nd poll(if it comes to it) I think we should include a few more off of other people's lists lol.
