~*~*~In the wrestling industry we are always faced with two kinds of feuds. One offs, or short feuds, and long term feuds that are filled with much more passion and much more personality. The feud that is ongoing with Joe Everyman and Lance Ryan is indeed one of those passion filled affairs. However, there is always one detractor to a long feud and that is whether or not the competitors can keep it fresh and keep it original. In the case of Joe Everyman and Lance Ryan, there is one man that has kept it fresh, and another that is showing that he is a lesser man, admitting that he has run out of things to say and admitting that he has tired of this feud.~*~*~
~*~*~The nCw camera crew catches up with Lance Ryan as he is getting out of his limousine and heading into his house. Chad Lights comes running up behind Lance before he gets into the house. Lance has a gym bag slung over his shoulder and he is dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a black t-shirt.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: Ah yes, it must be pay per view time. That time of the month when I am followed around by every camera, every nCw backstage interviewer and every person that has anything to do with this company, or so it would seem. To what do I owe the honor Chad?
Chad: Lance, I just wanted to get a few words from you after what Joe did to you on Collision. It seems that once again he has your number heading into this match. You have long been known as the master of the mind games and the man that is always one up on his opponent, but let’s be honest, Joe really has had your number since you came back to nCw. Much like he did on the last night that you were with the company before.
Lance: Chad, Chad, Chad. Do you ever think for yourself or do you always buy into whatever hype someone is trying to sell? You know, people have said that I have lost a few steps on my game, but I think compared to you I am doing just fine. I remember back in the day when you were an intelligent interviewer. You always asked the hard questions based on the facts and based on your surroundings, not based on the latest headlines on the rag magazines.
Chad, Joe is not inside my head, Joe is someone that I do deep down have a lot of respect for and someone that I know I need to be weary of. After all of the no-show jokes come to an end, everyone knows that I truly am the man that has believed in Joe Everyman since the first day that I met him. I knew that if he managed to get all of the tools put into the toolbox he would be a complete wrestler and a major threat for any title that he set his sights upon. The only ironic thing is that I am going to be the one to knock him back down a notch this time, I will be the one that will take him down when I believe that he is at his best ever here in nCw.
Chad: The world is actually wondering after the beating that he laid into you at Road to the Gold and then again this past week at Collision, was it really smart to make the first fall of your match no disqualifications and falls count anywhere? I mean, it may have been smarter to make that first fall a basic rules fall, then Joe would have had to be leery of breaking the rules in lieu of facing a 1-0 hole in the match. Many believe that you have played right into Joe’s hands with this first fall.
Lance: I am not stupid Chad, I can see that side of the argument, but one doesn’t need to question that if you are aware of my career and how I up the ante in the big matches. You see, at Road to the Gold, I kept it clean so I wouldn’t be disqualified. The goal there was simply to win the title from Joe. But now, things have become much more personal. Joe has proved to the entire world that he is intent on ending my career once and for all, and the logical response to that is that I am in no way ready to be put to rest.
As much as I long to be National Champion, so that I can add that to my mantle, now it has become personal for me as well. When someone comes after you and does the things that Joe Everyman has done to me in the past few months, the real goal sometimes can change drastically. In our case it has. I will not stand before you and say that I want to ruin Joe Everyman and end his career, I am classier than he is. I do not pride myself on being a career ender. Instead, my goal is simply to hurt Joe, to systematically destroy Joe. Joe Everyman ‘s ego has grown in great leaps and bounds lately, he believed in his own hype. He believes that the fans will cheer for him and boo for me, he believes that he has my number and that he can pull one more miracle out of his ass, and the reality Chad is that there is no way that he can beat me in this match, there is no way that he will be cheered for me. I could go out into that arena and let every fan in that room know that I despise them and wish death upon their families and they would likely cheer for me over Joe. It isn’t so much because Joe is a heinous individual, it is more because thefas recognize my status as a hall of famer and icon. They know that I am always going to deliver and I don’t think that there is much of anything that I can do at this point in my career to make the fans hate me.
Sunday, Joe is walking into an arena that will be full of time bombs. There is no chance that he, or I for that matter, will be walking out of that arena with the ease that we walk in. We will steal the show, we will both get hurt, but at the end of the night Joe will walk out in a lot more pain than I will and short a title.
Chad: What about the words of Joe last week when he said that it has all been said and done before between the two of you now?
Lance: Well Chad, to be honest, that is the difference between Joe Everyman and Lance Ryan. I have done this many times before, having had many a long feud. I know what the grind is like when you feel like there is nothing more that you can say that is not a rehash, but I also know how to seek deep down and find something to center on that has not been centered on before. I know how to look into the very soul of a man and center in on his fear, his weaknesses and take advantage of each and every one. That is what will happen this Sunday with Joe. Joe has given the illusion that he is in control right now, he has proven to the world that he can hang with me on some levels, but what is really going on inside of Joe Everyman is a conflict. He knows that this is the rubber match, this is the time when the true better man will rise to the top, and looking at his actions, we all know that he is a sleazy worm of a man that knows that the title is already as good as mine. Chad, you have been around me long enough to know that I will not mess around in this match. I will not be confused with a typical run of the mill wrestler in this National Title match. The stipulations are mine, the match is mine, the National Title is mine. Joe, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
~*~*~With that the front door to Lance’s house opens and Allan Cooper walks out, grabs Lance’s bags and motions for Chad to leave the premises. Chad has no argument with the big man and Lance and Allan walk into the house.~*~*~[/i]
Lance: About time Al, you know how I hate to be hounded by the nCw paparazzi.
Allan: Sorry, I have been on the telephone arranging for your hotel and talking to Cassandra.
Lance: Usually Cassandra calls ahead and books our rooms for us. What’s up with Cassandra?
Allan: Well, her grandfather has been placed in the hospital with a tonne of complications and she has already flown out to be with him. She told me to tell you to keep your head on straight and do what needs to be done in lieu of your match this Sunday. Zell is with your mother, and Cassandra said that she will call for you when she lands and gets herself situated.
Lance: Honestly, when is it going to be enough for this family? First I lose my grandparents, then mom gets diagnosed, and now Cassandra’s family? This is getting to be too much man. Should I call off my match with Joe? Do you think what she really wants is for me to be there with her?
Allan: She said for you to stay focused. You know that she has always supported you, and she knew that your first thought would be for you to drop everything. The reality is that you cannot do anything right now, and she said the same. She will kep you posted on what is going on, nothing is dire right now. She also said that it would likely help her out to have some time alone away from you and Zell. She needs some time to herself, traveling does her in, it has always been that way and you know it.
Lance: Very true. It will do her well to spend some time with her family. Alright, I will keep trucking along.
Allan: The bad news for Joe is that now you have more to fight for and more stress to release. If there is one thing that I have always known about you, it is that you are even tougher to get a win over when life takes a twist.
Lance: I have learned in the last year what it is like to lose almost everything that you have Al, and every time that I think that it cannot get any worse, it seems to. Wrestling is a constant for me. It is my time to go out there and give the fans what they want to see. I know what it is like to lose everything, and those fans look to me every night to bring some joy into their lives. Unlike Joe, I take that into account on a nightly basis. I will steal the show on Sunday. I will show Joe Everyman what it is like to be in the ring with a desperate Lance Ryan.
