"I am just a man...not superhuman..."
Jason Evans sits silently in his home with a remote in hand. On the screen is the replay of NCW suspense he TiVo'd. Jason sits back as he watches his opponent this week destroy Trent Brown. Evans' eyebrows raise as the three count is made. Evans looks up to find a cameraman standing in his living room. Evans blinks and looks over at his locked door, then over at all the windows which he can see that also appear to be closed and securely locked.
"You and me, we’re gonna have a talk, cause this whole total access thing where you can film me wherever and whenever. What if I’m in the a shower?...what if I’m taking a dump?. You’re going to film me then?”
The camera moves up and down signifying the cameraman nodding. Jason sighs and shakes his head.
“Alright I suppose I should address my opponent Sebastian Slone. After all, he wasted no time in coming out and verbally abusing me. I can’t figure out why, I mean I try to be respectful to people, all people. I try and show my opponents true honor and he decides to come out and verbally spank me. I guess insecurity does strange things to people. Like makes them talk in third person. And makes them reinterate their wins and throw it in someone’s face, over and over.”
“See Mr Slone. I beat Jack Wilde and Mr Happy in the last few weeks. And while I’m proud of winning my first two fights in NCW, I can also turn around and say that those two men put up a great fight and shouldn’t ever feel bad about it. I hope they take what they’ve learnt in their matches with me and become better wrestlers and I’d love to face either of them in the future to see what they’ve learnt, in fact I wish them both the best, but you Mr Slone, you put in an impressive showing against Trent Brown this past week...”
Jason laughs and shakes his head.
“But I’m not Trent Brown anymore than you are Jack Wilde or Mr Happy. I’m a different person so don’t you dare believe that you can beat me like you beat Trent. You can stand there with all your confidence and hide behind it, but in the end the cards will be dealt and we’ll just have to wait and see who’s better. But I will say this. Do you have any idea what another win would do for me?. I mean I’m under no illusions here, losing is part of this business, but getting three wins in a row to start my NCW career would be huge. I’d start achieving my goals, I’d start doing everything I want. But you Slone are standing in the way of that....”
“But aside from that you also happened to have made me angry. Your attitude makes me sick. You think you’re something special because you say so. You think everything should be handed to you on a silver platter?. You earn things in this company, you earn them by putting your body on the line and bleeding and sweating just like the rest of us, not by gloating and posturing you conceited ass.....”
“So you beat all these others by submission and when you were an amateur, yay awesome, great so happy for you, but how many matches have you had in the NCW?. ONE SLONE ONE. That is the only one that matters, you’ve had one win out of one so you’re batting at a one hundred percent hit ratio, but here’s the important bit, your victories in other places mean NOTHING here. This is NCW, this is the real deal and you’re going to face a man who has put his dreams on the line and who loves to compete. That’s what I love doing Slone, I love competing, and my passion knows no bounds....”
“So come test my convictions, come test yourself and weigh yourself against me, if you win I will glad shake your hand and raise it in respect, but if you lose to me I’ll expect the same from you, with honor and dignity.”
Jason smiles warmly and winks at the camera as the scene fades
