Act 1: After the Show
The scene opens on the Fedex Forum after Crossroads had ended and gone off the air. The stage crew was taking everything down, and getting it ready to move to the next city. The smell of pryo still lingered on the air, while the speakers were now silent. The screams of the crowd have died, while the tron that had been above the stage, was still and quiet. The ring had been dismantled, and the main stage laid in pieces. The camera moves around the now empty seat, and we soon spot a lone figure sitting high up in the seats. It is Emma English, still dressed in her ring attire, watching the work below in silence, wondering where she had gone wrong in the match. She thought she had it more than once only to be reversed or to have a 2 count. She leans back in the seat and closes her eyes trying to relax.
Voice: It was a great match lovey.
Emma opens her eyes and there stood her father with a dozen red roses in hand. He smiles softly, as she gets to her feet and hugs him, before taking the roses and sits back down with her father sitting beside her.
Emma: What are you doing here daddy?
Edmund: I thought I would surprise you and come nd see your match tonight. Dibbler set everything up for me, and I left shortly after you left a few days ago.
Emma: I'm glad that you're here. I just wish I would have shown you a better match. I mean the title was just within my grasp, and I blew it.
Edmund just smiles at her placing his hand over hers.
Edmund: That match between you and Zelda was amazing sweety. You did something that the other women you faced in the NCW couldn't, and I could never be more proud of you.
Emma: Why? I lost the match.
Edmund: It doesn't matter if you lost the match. You did your best and that's all that matters. It's just a little set back that's all. You are one of the best students that I've ever had, and you know what you are doing in the ring, that's for sure.
Emma smiles and gets to her feet slowly.
Emma: Thank you. I didn't really look at it that way. I mean when I was in the ring, I was so sure that I had that match won. When Zelda had me on the mat, I could feel my heart sink, and I thought I had let everyone down including myself.
Edmund: Dearest, I've been there, and I understand what you're going through. It's hard to get that close to having a title, only to lose it. But you just have to move on, and keep trying. Don't let it get to you, because you are better than that, and I know that you will get another chance again down the road.
Emma: True. How did you know where to find me?
Edmund: I ran into Dibbler on the way backstage. He said that you needed some time alone, and this is usually where you went. Oh, he also told me to let you know you have a match next week.
Emma: Against who?
Edmund: He said it was a tag match. You're going up against Cleopatra and Ayla St. James. You're partner is that young woman that you eliminated tonight... Roxi Johnson.
Emma sighs, as her father gets to his feet, and starts down the stairs toward the main floor behind Emma.
Emma: The night I turned on Zelda, Cleopatra and Ayla. If they want the match, I'll give it to them. Roxi really isn't that bad, and I know she'll help me take them both out. We'll work together and make sure Cleopatra and Ayla go down this time.
Edmund: That's my girl. I just hope Roxi feels the same way that you do about this whole match. I hate to see her turn out turning her back on you, and leaving you by yourself.
Emma: I hope so too Daddy. I really do. I mean after all I did get her out right after the bell sounded pretty well. I hope she can over look that, and work with me.
Edmund: I think you'll be just fine my dear. I wanted to take you out to celebrate, but...
Emma: But what? I still need to eat. I'm starved. Just let me go and get my things.
Edmund: Good. I'll meet you outside then.
Her father smiles and kisses her on the forehead, and walks away leaving her alone in the quiet hallway. She walks down the hall with her heels from her riding boots clicking on the cement floor.
Emma: So this is round two against Cleopatra and Ayla St. James. The last time that I was going to be in a match against them I took out my partner and walked away. Not this time. Cleopatra, you took one major fall this week, and I have to say it makes you look bad. You lost to Danielson twice, as well as Juiletta. Funny, I've beaten both of them without to much hassle, so why couldn't you take them down if you're so good? This week I had a chance at getting the Women's Title, but I didn't get it. But you know it doesn't really matter. I made it to the top before any of you did, and had a chance to get gold. This week Cleo will you tell me how much better you are because you have more experience than I do? Or how you've been a Women's Champion? Or are you going to say that you'll destroy me if I get in your way? I mean that's your usual speech isn't it?
Emma just smiles to herself, and continues down the hall, passing a few stage hands as she nears the underground parking where the trucks are waiting for the equipment to take to the next city. She turns a corner and soon reaches her dressing room. She heads inside, turning on the light, and starts to gather up her gear that was lying around the room.
Emma: Cleo I have to say that this week is going to be easy considering after the match that I just went through. But I'm not going to underestimate you because you can be a very tough opponent when you want to be, but I'm not going to back down from you. I'll be ready to face you and your little friend Ayla on Friday night at Suspense.
Emma holds up the riding crop and smiles at the camera, before putting it in her bag.
Emma: Ayla are you sure you want to associate yourself that is a total crazed b***? What are the chances that she won't cast you aside when she's done with you, or even double-crossing you during the match this week? You can't can you? But only time will tell on that one. Ayla you beat the Cat Lady two weeks in a row and I have to say that is not a major accomplishment at all. Anyone could have taken her down. Roxi and I will make sure Friday night, that you and Cleo are the ones that will be put to the mat, while we are standing firm and proud over you.
Emma gathers up a few other things that were lying around and places them in her bag, and zips it up before grabbing her cell phone off of the table, and heads for the door.
Emma: Ayla, Cleo this week you're going to find, a loss isn't going to slow me down, or even have me at half my strength, or skill. My father was right, and not to dwell on things that cannot be changed, but to move on with your life, and focus on the next match. I'll be ready for our match this week, but the question is will both of you be ready to face Roxi and myself? I guess we'll see Friday night won't we. Ta for now.
Emma just smiles and walks out the door, and down the hall to where her father would be waiting outside, as the scene fades to black.
