Jason Blair: I still don't understand what we're doing here.
Mike Machado: Look man, I know you're upset I lost to Venom on Trauma. I know things aren't going exactly as you planned.. but I do have a pretty big match coming up. Wired may be a pre-show, but it's still something. I'm still wrestling on a Sunday. So give me some damn respect.
JB: That isn't what I mean..
MM: (interrupting) So then you mean, what are we doing here, when we should obviously be preparing for my match against Charlie Velez. What am I doing in the middle of a mall when my time would be better spent in a ring, perfecting the might of mediocrity, in case I get a shot to actually beat the man.. that's what you mean?
JB: No. I mean, it's f*****g March, Mike. What the hell are you doing in a mall, dressed in a g*d damn Santa outfit, in the middle of March!?
Machado sits in an oversized red chair, wearing a Santa outfit. He isn't wearing the traditional Santa-beard.. opting instead for the Machado mustache look. Jason Blair stands next to him in a green elf suit. The frustration on Blair's face isn't something he can hide. Around them there is no-one. Not a single soul has come to see Santa in late-March at the display center of the mall.
MM: Well, I thought that this would be a good place for me to make my point. The plan was basically to show Charlie Velez that people love me, and that I'm a role model to children of all ages and sizes. I thought, what better way to do that then dress up like Santa?
JB: In March? Anything is a better way to do that then to dress up like Santa. People want to see Santa at Christmas, Mike. Not Easter. Look, you can stick around here for as long as you rented the place, I'm going to the FYE to check out the new DVD's released. This is just the stupidest...
Blair trails off as he throws his elf hat onto the ground and storms off. Machado is left alone, sitting on his oversized Santa-throne.
MM: Charlie Velez. You may not be able to see it right here, right now... because.. it appears I haven't made a very wise decision when it comes to timing.. but people love me.
A kid walks by and stares at Machado, confused. He continues on his path toward Gamestop, puzzled.
MM: Do you know why? Do you know why you'll never be loved by your 'subjects' Velez? I'll give you a hint, it's the very reason you're here. You want to prove that you're better than everyone. You think, because you were great before, that you're entitled here, in the nCw. You think you're entitled to things like #1 contenders matches, and Trauma main events. You think that you're better than Suspense on Friday nights.
Mike takes off his Santa hat, his hair even wilder than normal. His eyes lock with yours.
MM: This Sunday, before Soverign, I will make it clear to you: You are no better than me, or anyone else in this federation. You have to strive week in and week out to be competitive in this federation. You have to work harder than you've worked on your little business ventures here. This isn't a place where success is measured in numbers, or profits. This isn't something that you're born into. You aren't privileged here. Now if you'll excuse me. I'm going to see if I can make it to the Chinese place for the lunch special.
Machado gets off his Santa-Jesus throne and walks into the mall, still wearing his Santa outfit.
