There’s been a lot of questions poised to me in the past week.
We open up with Venom sitting behind the desk in his mobile office. In front of him lays a big stack of Magazines and DVDs. He looks straight into the camera ignoring the mess on his desk in front of him and continues.
My fan forum has practically exploded with posts this last week and last night when the final Night to Remember card was posted at nCw.com it was like a nuclear bomb went off. Everyone wanted to know what was going on with Velez’ new take over attempt and if I was going to have any part in it, and the answer is no, I will not. Not because I am not still on proper terms with Charlie, but because we had a long discussion and we decided we didn’t need that to get what we wanted, all we needed was the Young Guns.
He takes a short pause to let that sink in for those fans out there who know what that means.
Which makes A Night to Remember all the more interesting. The rumors were flying that we were ready to come back, and it seems that the nCw brass wanted to put the rumors to rest so they booked the match, and now the rumor has broke, we’re back. Does that mean we are already over now that we have a match against each other already? No, not by a long shot. We have always been about each other and watching each others backs so there will be plenty of that in this match, which doesn’t bode well for Mr. Cross, but we will both put our hearts into winning. In the end though, we will both be in that ring raising each others arm in victory no matter who wins.
He reaches down and picks up the Magazine at the top of the pile and fingers through it slowly as he continues.
For those of you who don’t know out there in the land of nCw, myself and Charlie have a very long history. From a friendly rivalry to pure hatred to friendship back to pure hatred and back to friendship again, it seemed like we were forever linked together as friends and rivals. It all started in my rookie year in wrestling and when both of us were with our second tag team partner in our young careers. See, back then, if you were considered undersized like we were you only had two choices fight in your weight division or get a tag partner. After a fall out with my first tag team partner I found someone that was dimwitted enough to do everything I wanted to but strong enough to have my back in the ring and Charlie was well, much like he is now, fighting to get himself known with a partner in the same situation.
Of course it wasn’t to long before our two teams crossed paths and we were fighting each other for the championships and that’s how our rivalry began. We fought night in and night out with neither of us actually beating each other for the belts during the feud and both teams soon split up, and the rivalry spilled over into the Junior Heavyweight division where Charlie Velez was now Champion. Our feud spilled over and cost Charlie the Championship and soon we were fighting one on one in a Cage match with nothing on the line but the end of our Rivalry once and for all. Instead of ending our rivalry though, I nearly ended Charlie’s career when I broke his freaking neck.
He shakes his head and sighs as he drops the Magazine back on the desk and we catch a glimpse of the cover that shows Charlie lying on the mat surrounded by EMTs and Venom in the background looking shocked.
It took a long time for me to get that memory out of my head. The image of what I had done to Charlie haunted me for a long time every time I prepared for a match. I overcame though, and obviously, so did Charlie, and that was just the beginning for the two of us. That was just a small sample of the eight years that we have been acquaintances in this business. It was only the beginning and now, at a Night to Remember we continue that long history as we fight for the National Championship.
The National Championship is a belt that I look at and think this could be one of the biggest accomplishments in my career. I’ve won a World Championship, but the only reason I even got a shot at that belt was because the Champion thought there was no way that I, being a Junior Heavyweight, would be a World Heavyweight Champion. I never had the opportunity to win a belt that showcased your abilities to climb the ladder through wrestling, and I am looking foreword to my first opportunity to do so. I look foreword to climbing that ladder, and as I look at former Champions that did so one thing pops out at me. Our current nCw Champion was National Champion just under one year ago.
A year ago he is working his way through the ranks winning the National Championship, and less then a year later he is main eventing pay per views. This belt isn’t just a stepping stone to the top it seems to me to be a right of passage. It seems that this belt was held by every person in the nCw who is considered a “legend” here and that is exactly what I want to be one day. I want to be known as not only one of the greatest in my past major federation, but as one of the best ever, and this is my shot.
He grins into the camera as he takes a short pause.
So Xavier Cross better be ready for a fight, because he’s had that belt for a long time and whether he likes it or not one of the Young Guns are going to walk out with that belt. It’s been in his hands long enough, and I know he won that belt in an epic match that meant a lot to him, but it’s time that the nCw gets a new face at the top, and you’re looking at it.
He continues to smile with a cocky grin as the scene fades to black.
