You preach about not mentioning the past Xavier, but you’re just a hypocrite.
We open up on the familiar scene of the office of Venom. The desk we are focused on though is empty and all we see is the two framed jersey of the Atlanta Braves stars and the surrounding pictures of Venom and his family. A small glow is coming from off camera and shortly after clicks off and Venom walks into view. He stands behind the desk as he continues.
I just finished catching up on yesterday’s promos and I couldn’t help but notice that about Mr. Cross. Every time he mentioned me all he said was that I was living in the past by laying down the history of the feud between myself and Velez. Well, that or he’d make some sort of gay slur towards me because I have respect for another wrestler that happens to be my Brother-In-Law.
He shrugs before continuing.
You make these remarks though Cross, and yet your first promo all you did was talk about your past. Talk about how you were a younger man when you first came to nCw and won a title. About how upset you were when you found out your wife passes, yet you still ran to the nCw arena to win the very belt you are fighting for. Do my past experiences not count because they didn’t happen here? Do my past accomplishments not count because I fought my rival somewhere else? Do my past experiences not count because they don’t involve you? It can’t be the first because you happen to mention other places you fought in your promo too. It can’t be the second because you also talk about fighting your rival in other places as well. So maybe the third one hits it on the head and I was right all along. If it doesn’t involve you it isn’t right is it Cross? If you weren’t there to see it happen then it never happened because only the things that happen to you matter at all in this world or wrestling.
If you want to go solely off of the merits of the nCw though that is fine with me because you think I’ve accomplished nothing here and I can take that. Who can say they’ve accomplished anything in a federation when they’ve only been there about two months? Well, you know, I kind of can. You see, you claim I have done nothing, but indeed I have fought everyone the nCw has thrown at me and won all but one match. A match in which I was a hiccup slower then Doc and it cost me dearly. That match though, along with all my other wins, seems to have caught the attention of the nCw brass and got me here today.
He sits down behind his desk and shuffles a few papers around in front of him and sets them off to the side.
Before I get to Velez though, you weren’t done at one yesterday Cross. You had even more to say, and I must say that before this promo I thought pretty highly of you. Now though, you are just like every other champion I’ve faced in the past that was afraid of the new younger blood coming up. You don’t know how to beat them or what to say about them so you just mock them. You mock and hope the laugh the people get out of it will turn into cheers when the time comes to step into the ring. You mock because you don’t know what else to do, and why? Is it because something Charlie said got under your skin? Is it because you just don’t believe he is what he says he is?
If Charlie really got under your skin mentioning your wife in his promo then why don’t you show it. You show sparks of it in the end, but if you’re really upset then show it. Show the passion. Show the love. Show that you’re alive and not just another idiot cardboard cutout like you had up there with you on that stage. Show you have some real passion because all you are to me is another idiot who doesn’t know what to say, and because of it, I don’t believe you.
I don’t believe you are what you say you are. You claim to be a man whose life has been in shambles and uses wrestling as a crutch from a complete breakdown. The way you explain yourself you might be in a closet somewhere cutting if you weren’t in the ring. The way you explain it you would be better suited on a Psychologists couch then standing there making a promo. I don’t want to say your wife never died and you never suffered any tragedy Cross, but I just don’t believe you.
Venom looks down for a second and reaches over and grabs magazine from off camera.
I applaud you for finally doing it Charlie. I applaud you for finally taking the next step and really focusing on your love for wrestling. It’s going to be just like old times again, when both of us had full focus on our short amounts of time in that ring. It will be just like the first time we were ever a team, following around our new mentor Reeshi before the biggest night of the year. That was the first time the two of us ever put our pasts behind us and worked together, and now, it’s like it’s happening all over again here in nCw.
Don’t get it wrong though Charlie, we’re back as a team, but just like you said this is a singles match. This is a match for a prestigious championship and I am ready to work with you until the very end, but I am also ready to roll you up for the pin the second Xavier Cross is neutralized. We have had our battles in the past and know each other inside and out, and if it comes down to it and we have to go hand in hand I know that we will steal the show. This though, it isn’t about you and me. It isn’t even about Xavier Cross. It is about proving to the nCw fans and the nCw brass that we came here to be Champions and not side show puppets. The time is now to impress and all I have ever done in my career is impress. I’m ready Charlie, and I hope you really are done trying to run this company and are ready to focus, because if you’re not I’ll kick your teeth down your throat first chance I get.
He nods as the camera begins to fade…
No wait. Just for the sake of Xavier Cross I have one more thing to say.
He clears his throat.
This is a swim meet son, and I’m Michael Phelps, bitch.
Fade to black.
