We open up on the recently familiar scene of Venom sitting behind his desk. It's much cleaner then the last few times we have seen it, and it appears that Venom has finally moved everything in properly and finished up his research. He sits there wearing an nCw t-shirt, his hands intertwined on the desk top in front of him. He opens his arms to show off the room.
Welcome to my humble abode. I've finally managed to get settled in to my new mobile office. Now I can do everything I need right from this seat. My webmaster has archived all nCw videos from past and present on my computer, so no more watching videos at nCw head quarters. And with this being a mobile office, I'm always close to the nearest gym.
He smiles as he pauses and sets his arms down on the desk in front of him.
Before I finished settling in though, I took a little trip. That’s right, instead of recording boring videos of my training and shooting a new commercial for my latest sponsor, I took a trip. I decided that I needed to head to nCw headquarters to not only thank Mr. Fox for all the recent opportunities the he has given me, but that I needed to learn a little more about the history of nCw.
See, I'm a bit of a historian. Now Mr. Cross seems to think that’s a bad thing because he keeps shooting me down for mentioning my past with Charlie Velez, but I have always said that if you don't know your past, you will never know your future. It's obvious that I know my past, because I was there to make it and because I have been reminiscing for most of the week about my past with Charlie in particular. So the only thing left for me to learn is the past of the place I am now working for. That is why I spent my time between training and getting this place ready visiting the headquarters of nCw. Now, like my opponents, I did record my little trip, so roll if you will please Mr. Webmaster…
The office fades out and we fade in on a very standard business hallway. It looks very much like how you would expect a corporate headquarters to look like, except, instead of knock off Van Gough’s on the wall, instead are framed portraits of past Champions. Venom is walking towards the camera down this hall in a casual business suit and his eyes are glued to the walls. His head only moves back and forth from each side of the wall checking out every portrait before finally noticing the camera.
Welcome to the main pipeline of nCw, the nCw headquarters. I came here in some ways to suck up to the new boss, but as I walk through these hallways I am learning so much about this company. I have passed so many great portraits during my trip. As I’ve walked these halls I’ve seen portraits of past Champions, portraits of nCw legends, and mostly portraits of Leonard Fox.
He stops and shrugs his shoulders before he continues walking down the halls towards the camera.
I’ve walked these halls and I’ve learned not only about nCw but about myself. You see, as I notice the Legends that are hung on this wall I notice that many of them have done more than just cross paths with me. I see the faces of Spike Kane, Steve Awesome, and the Brothers Holland staring back at me and I see faces from my past. All four of them were there when I was at my peak, and I have shared a drink and a fight with all of them while I was at both the top and bottom of my career. Staring into those faces on the wall is like staring straight into my past and makes me realize, if they can be legends here, then so can I.
That wasn’t the only shock I found here in the halls of nCw, no. As I continue to walk I see all of these past Champions and I see the face of The Ace, a man I beat in record time when he came after my Championship. I see the faces of Spike, Awesome, Holland, Ace, Everyman, Dark Prophet, Mark Evil, Dirty Deal, Sexy Jason, Reckless “Brad Kane” Jack, AJ Phoenix, and Nelly F’n Angel and every single one of them strikes a memory of my past. Some of these men I’ve just worked with from time to time but many of them I’ve gone to war against. Most of these men have seen me at my finest and at my worst, and if these men can make it here, so can I. I walk these halls and I realize something. I realize that this place, nCw, is not just my present and my future but it is also my past. For two long years I stayed out of wrestling and just made cameos here and there as my former federation tried to struggle back to life. That entire time, this is where I should have been. This is where I belong.
We fade out of nCw headquarters and back to Venom who is sitting at his desk mockingly wiping a tear from his eye, yes, he just mocked himself…
Touching isn’t it?
While I took the cameras with me to nCw headquarters though, my competition was busy. I got back here to my mobile office to find that both Cross and Velez found time between there sponsor obligations and their training to cut a promo, and again I learned something. I learned that anyone can be “G.”
He shrugs his shoulders and gives a little half smile before continuing.
Seriously though people, I learned that Xavier Cross has learned nothing about me. He’s taken no time to learn a single thing about me because he's too blinded by the hatred that he feels for Charlie Velez. Now, if I wanted Cross to pay attention to me, I could sit here and I could spout off about his dead wife and his kid watching in the crowd, and, in the past, I would have. Now though, I have no problem just sitting here, saying my piece, and waiting. I have no problem flying under the radar of the Champion, because while he’s busy chasing Velez around the ring, I’ll be standing there, waiting for him to run into my boot and do all of my work for me.
I have no problem if all Cross notices is the fact that I mentioned that his pure emotion is worth more then his stupid imitations, even if he misinterprets what I said and spins my words around. I have no problem with Cross’ best dig on me being about my terrible grammar. It’s kind of weird that he even came up with that considering I’ve always typed my speeches up first and the Microsoft paperclip has always helped me correct my grammar before. I guess I never knew Cross was an English professor and I’m not quite sure where that comes into play in the ring on Sunday night, but it works for me. It also works for me if you think I am just another Charlie Velez. That works for me because you don’t have any clue of what I am or what I can do if you think I am just a carbon copy of Charlie, and if you don’t have a clue, then you won’t even see it coming when I make you just…
He shakes his head and stops.
No, it’s too early for catch phrases. I’m not done dissecting you yet Cross. I’m not done putting you down. No, because again you spend the majority of the time telling me not to live in the past. Like I said earlier, I study my past in order to see what my future may hold, and when I look and I see the last time someone doubted and over looked me because they thought that I wasn’t in there league, I see me holding a title above my head. Sure, the past may hold no weight with the fans here or even with the boys in the back. The past holds weight with me though. It holds weight with me to know where I came from and it holds weight with me in this match, because if I look back hard enough, I might just see every move Charlie Velez is about to pull before he even pulls it. I use the past as a tool Cross. Just like I use my god given talent and my lifetime of training in this industry, I use the past as a tool to rise to the occasion and so far it has helped me become a house hold name. To you I may be just another Andrew Jacobsen just because we have similar styles, but to the millions of fans who have seen me perform in the past, I am just Venom, and you’ll learn why they don't have comparisons for me come Sunday.
Cross was not the only one busy in these last two days though, Charlie had a promo of his own. I’m not flying under Charlie’s radar though. He’s got me in the back of his mind and he is remembering everything we’ve been through in the past. He’s grabbing at his neck and reminding himself that those two surgeries both came at my hands. He’s constantly reminded, the same way I am when I lay down in bed and suddenly can’t get up because my back locks up. We’re both in our late twenties, the prime of our lives, and we both have to deal with nagging injuries from now until the end. And all of it was caused at each others hands. We are constantly on each other's minds, and we will constantly work together until Cross is carried out on a stretcher, because like you said, we’re still family and we still both want to be the best.
You mentioned that after you threw me off of that Tower that I began to follow you, and it was you who was thrust in to the spotlight. You may have been in the spotlight Charlie, but you never even came close to what I was when you were stuck in my shadow. Sure, you moved up and you started a war that pretty much destroyed the company and you were the main focal point of it all, but I was the face of the company for nine months straight. I, at one time, held the top three Championships in the company. I was the man everyone loved to hate. You, when you were the focal point of everything, didn’t even grace the big stage.
He shakes his head as he pauses shortly.
You want to feel like you’ve accomplished something Charlie? Then on Sunday you’re going to have to beat me again, and this time, it will be when something is on the line. You’ll have to beat me to win a Championship and not just the love of the fans. You’ll have to slam me to the mat and hold my shoulders down without choking. You may be the big shot with all the money, you may be the one with all the great ideas that get turned into products you sell. I though, I’m the one who always wins the big one Charlie. I’m the one of us that is always holding some kind of gold in the air. I’m the one who is always on top of the wrestling industry. I’m the champion Charlie, and you, you’re just the man who makes the purchases.
I can go back and forth all day with you Charlie. We can argue about our “sibling rivalry” until we are both blue in the face. We can even look at all the past footage of the two of us. No matter what, we’ll never agree on who is the best in the world, and you know what Charlie, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter because we’re not fighting to decide who the best in the world is, we’re fighting to decide who the best in that ring is. We’re fighting to find out who the best person is to be the new National Champion, and I can guarantee you this Charlie, I will not give up unless you truly are the better man, and I seriously doubt that.
Venom gives that cocky smirk as he stops. He pushes his chair back from the desk and stands back up.
So I hope both of you have said and heard everything you need to say and hear. I hope you're ready to hit the weights, ring, heavy bags, or whatever else you might want to do to train for this match that you haven’t already recorded for a promo. Mostly though, I just hope you two know what is waiting for you come Sunday - me. I’m ready to shine boys, and when I shine...everybody notices.
Fade to black.
