“Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for."

*The camera falls on a lonely stretch of road somewhere in the beautiful pastoral forests of central New York State. The road is long and isolated on a length of highway ancient and forgotten compared to the super interstates that have made such roads obsolete. Cracks along the road show the true state of the roads condition as blades of grass stretch outward toward the sun as if mother nature is trying to take back that which man has torn asunder. As this peaceful yet isolated image fills the screen suddenly the sounds of man's progress fill our ears. A single limousine, black as pitch with tinted dark windows, roars down the road. It's sleek beautiful design twisting and turning, moving with the road as it glides over the slightly cracked and sun beat road. As the camera examines the vehicular intruder, we peer inside the cars exterior to the private area of the vehicles occupant. Inside, alone staring out at the trees as they go by sits a singular woman, she wears a modest black dress, which only sets off her beautiful Latin features. Her face, decorated tastefully with make up seems to shine in the light of the limo's sun roof. She is Maria de la Rosa, sister of NCW superstar Tempestad, and she is a woman torn. As she stares out at the passing trees in her own private world, her thoughts ever present to the situation before her, the choices she has made, and the ever imminent battle that her lover, the fallen one, Sephiroth du Lac; must fight. As she stares out of the window we hear her gentle soothing voice give life to the words in her mind.*
Maria (voice over): I never meant for this to happen. I never meant to cause so much trouble. Maybe, Father Karras is right. Maybe I am a wicked woman after all. But they cannot know. Cannot feel the burning in my heart. If this love is wrong then I am indeed a wicked woman for I do not care. Oh, hermano, I know I have done things to disappoint you. Perhaps I am not the sister I should be. Perhaps I am not the pure-hearted person everyone thinks I am. I saw first hand what my beloved was capable of this past saturday and as much as I hate to admit it... I enjoyed it. Watching my beloved attack Gabriel as he did my honor was... intoxicating.
*She smiles with a sudden slight mischievous smirk on her face. As a child who has snuck a stolen treat.*
Maria (Voice Over): I find myself smiling even now. Perhaps it is his influence. I was never like this before. I never took pleasure in the suffering of others. Never took joy in pain but when I saw him, saw him bite down into the flesh of that... that híbrido. I loved it.
*The smile fades from her face as she looks thoughtfully down, her eyes downcast in shame. Her eyes questioning in their gaze as if questioning herself in her mind.*
Maria (Voice Over): Does that make me wicked? Does it make me a bad girl? He hurt me. He hurt you, hermano. He hurt mi amor. How should I feel? Oh, God help me. Help me know what I should do. I wish I felt like myself again. The same sensible Maria I have always known.
*As she gazes out at the window the forest gives way to a clearing and a sign appears in her gaze. She looks at the words and the writing makes a chill run through her spine.
Welcome
to
Dunwich
HELL
to
HELL
She sighs as she looks forward the screen still up on her mysterious driver. She presses a button rolling down the front section of the limo's visor.*
Maria: E-excuse me, Señor! How much further to...
*The driver turns revealing a masked figure of hulking size driving the vehicle.
Her eyes widened as he let out a low groaning sound as he looked back and quickly Maria stumbled her hands upon the controls quickly rolling up the windows in silence. She sighs in relief trembling with an untold fear, and suddenly the trembling turned into a light free chuckle as she just shook her head.*
Maria (Voice over): Dios me ayuda. What have I gotten myself into?
*She sighs silently as she looks out to the empty houses as they pass by...
Meanwhile the camera cuts to the figure of Sephiroth du Lac standing atop the balcony of his beautiful home. He stares out into the distance to the town beneath in the valley. His eyes gazing down at all he survey. The wind blows back his cloak-like coat and his hair giving him the appearance of the mythic vampire lord looking down from his castle. Gently he sniffs the air and his eyes close as a faint whiff of something on the wind graces his nostrils. His lips curl in a soft smile. His eyes cast upward to the long winding road leading to the estate gazing, hoping for a glimpse of her arrival and once more the peace of the moment is broken by unspoken words.*
Seph (Voice over): Even now I stand here waiting. Watching like some school boy longing for the bell to ring to relieve him of his studies. Does she know, I wonder, what she does to me? How she makes the very day begin? That her face is the first thought when I awake and the last thought in the night? Does she know how much she haunts me? But the bigger question is do they know how far I will go for her? How much she really means? Last week I proved my devotion. I proved her innocence in a trial by fire but in the process I once more enraged her brother, my partner, Tempestad.
*Seph looked down thoughtfully as the lords of legends, staring down at the town. His face stern as if he were remembering a painful memory.*
Seph (voice over): Oh, Tempestad, do you know how much you hurt her? Do you know how she wept when she heard your comments about us? It was never my intent to alienate her. Never my intent to make her a pariah. I never intended all this madness, Tempestad. I never meant to hurt her or you. I merely intended to silence forever that vile tongue that wagged in the mouth of that so called man of God.
*Seph clenched his fist, the anger visibly rising in him as he thought of Karras, the constant thorn in his side. Like Tempestad Seph had triumphed over him in his first match in the NCW and since then the bible thumping fool had been a constant annoyance to him. But now that he had insulted Maria, Karras had turned from annoyance to problem and it filled Sephiroth with rage that the man had walked away from the match with but a scar on his head. He deserved so much more. But he couldn't. Not while Maria was watching and suddenly his hands unclenched as he looked down in shame.*
Seph (Voice Over): Oh, my gentle Maria. I am sorry. I sought to save your honor but instead have only given you more pain.
*Seph looks down at his hand and once more clenches his fist tightly not out of rage but out of conviction.*
Seph (voice over): I promise, this time my love. I will make things right.
*He turns allowing his coat to flow behind him like a grandiose cape as he steps inside to await her arrival...
Meanwhile the limo sped through the simple streets of town with a silent hum as Maria gazed out in wonder. Never before had she seen such a place. Many of the buildings lie empty, their doors still hung open like gaping wounds bleeding the darkness of their interiors. A church on the corner sits empty and abandoned, it's doors boarded up from the outside and it's steeple cross still lying shattered on the lawn. Old store fronts lie empty and unused as the few meager aged individuals that reside within the town quickly avert their eyes of the limousine as it speeds past them. Maria looked at it in pity and something stirred in her. A longing question nagging in the back of her mind.*
Maria (voice over): Could hermano be right? Could mi querido truly be a... monster? He seemed that way this Saturday. He was savage, brutal, unforgiving. A man truly without mercy.
*Maria bit her bottom lip her face staring softly out at the dilapidated homes and empty streets. As if fighting the urge to take some guilty pleasure in his savagery. She quickly shook her head though trying to free her mind of the image.*
Maria (Voice over): No, there is good in him. I have seen it. They do not know him as I do. They do not hear his gentle voice, they do not feel his tender kisses or gaze in his beautiful eyes. They are outsiders looking in on a love they cannot understand. Like I am... an observer.
*She puts her hand upon the glass as she gazes out at a child staring coldly at the limo as it pulls by.*
Maria (Voice Over): I am beginning to understand their hatred. Their fear. They fear what they cannot understand. Cannot comprehend. They fear him and they don't understand. Like this place our love is strange, frightening to them. They look at him and they see a monster but I see the truth. I see what they cannot. What they will never see.
*She sighs leaning back as the town slowly comes out of view. and once more the limo drives down a long desolate road leading out of the town...
Within Du lac Manor Sephiroth busied himself. He ran a quick comb through his long flowing platinum hair stopping only to adjust his collar. All had to be precise, had to be perfect. For this was no ordinary visit and this was no ordinary guest. Sephiroth looked at himself in the mirror and as he gazed at his reflection he stared into his eyes and the events of last week plagued his mind.*
Seph (voice over): All I can hear is the screaming of the crowd as I dug my teeth into his flesh. The look of fear and shock on Tempestad's masked face as he saw me gouge at him with my teeth. The screaming of Karras as his feet kicked under me like a hangman's victim. But the image that fills my mind the most is her face. The shock, the confusion in her eyes. She marveled at what she saw and in those eyes I saw a shame and a mounting fear at what she witnessed. But also as she stopped him I saw something else, an acceptance. An understanding. And in that moment I knew. I knew that she loved me. She loved me deeper than the fears she held in her heart. More than the shamefulness she felt at my indulgence of violence. She loved me and in that moment I loved her more than any man has ever loved.
*Sephiroth snapped out of the daydream and quickly began his walk through the empty estate. As he hastened for the door his mind reeled with his collective thoughts as he sped through.*
Seph (voice over): Karras I am use to the jealousy of petty tyrants and would be gods. Tempestad I am use to the wailing of the righteous and the voices that cry out for justice. These are things I have come to know and they are second nature to men such as we. But what I am not use to was what I saw that night. That gaze that looked back at me from behind those beautiful eyes. The knowing, the realization, and for her to turn and accept that which was seen. That, which by all rights would repulse even the stoutest constitution, is nothing short of miraculous.
*Sephiroth reached the door just as the limo pulled into view from down the road. He nervously watched as the car sped up to approach him. Once more he ran his fingers through his hair fighting the influence of the wind.*
Seph (voice over): It humbled me.
*The car pulled up right before Sephiroth and with a slight bow he grasped the back handle taking a deep breath as he opened.*
Seph (Voice over): So, whatever you may think of me...
*Maria sled up to her feet stepping out of the car.*
Maria (voice over): Whatever you may think of us.
*Sephiroth gently takes her hand as she steps out pausing only a moment to gently kiss it as she looks at him.*
Seph (voice over): Whatever you may fight for know this...
*She blushes at him smiling softly as he rises up his eyes never fleeing from her face.*
Maria (Voice over): We fight for love...
*With that she wraps her arms around him and he with her as she hungrily moves in for a kiss. Their lips meet and their eyes close and all the world vanishes from sight as the camera pulls away as their voices speak in unison as the camera fades to black...*
Both (Voice over): And love is worth fighting for.
