*The scene opens up with Mr. Happy strapped into a chair, his hands bound behind him as Seth Evans paces in front of him… his hands are folded behind his back, and his eyes seem to stare a hole right through the clown in front of him. Harley Quinn is standing in the corner of the room, and a few of the people that have been helping Seth with his clown abductions throughout this month. They keep ski masks on to keep their faces from being seen by the camera.*
Seth:
“You know exactly what I have to do to get to Freakke. What I can do to hurt him.”
Mr. Happy:
“Chloroform?”
*Mr. Happy’s voice trembles a bit, as he doesn’t seem to really know what it is that will help Seth Evans with his match this Sunday. The response that he gave causes Seth to grab the back of the chair of Mr. Happy, and lean over it as he shouts into his ear.*
Seth:
“Don’t you play stupid with me!”
*From the tone of Seth’s voice, Mr. Happy leans the other way as if he wishes that he could escape, but being strapped into the chair made that quite impossible.*
Mr. Happy:
“No! Really!”
*His voice lifted to try and defend his own suggestion.*
Mr. Happy:
“That what we used to get him when we did… I don’t know how else you’ll be able to get him.”
*Seth walked around the chair, so that he was staring directly at Mr. Happy and Mr. Happy could look right back at him. A smug look on his face.*
Seth:
“You’re a clown. He’s a clown. You can get on the inside… and you can tell me… what will hurt him. You’ll be a spy, Mr. Happy. For me.”
You fight for these fans, Freakke. Have you not learned from what I have gone through? The moment that you decide to… get out of this fantasy world that every wrestler in the back can have respect for one another, when you get out of this fantasy world that makes you believe these people are going to be there for you when you have nothing else to give them - well, that sentence says it all for itself…
You have nothing left to give them.
They will chew you up, and spit you out. You won’t even matter to them. They won’t care that you were a former X-Division Champion, they won’t care about what you’ve done to your body or the years you’ve taken off of your life… for them… They won’t care.
There are two things in this business that should matter, and this is to everybody that’s in the sport of professional wrestling!
First, and foremost: Themselves. That’s the most important thing in this sport. You, to you. Me, to me. You have to do what you have to do to get yourself ahead in this business, and that’s exactly what I’m doing! Whatever it takes… to get ahead. To get that X-Division Championship. You do what you need to do, Freakke… I’ll do what I need to do. But don’t you tell me that you’re doing it for these fans, and wanting to earn their forgiveness. They may give it to you… for now… but in the end, you’re still nothing to them.
The second thing that should matter to everybody under contract to any professional wrestling organization, to anyone that has ever signed their name to a contract into the world of professional wrestling: The championships. Those are what we fight for! That’s the only thing that really tells us, when we’re laying down on that canvas… nothing left to give… that championship is the one and only thing that will tell us to get up. To get up, and ask for more punishment. It’s the only thing that will tell us to do what we need to do. When we earn them… we respect them.
From the moment that you disrespected that championship, that’s my gripe, Freakke. I don’t really mind you as anything else. It was nothing personal. I would have faced you for the X-Division Championship just for a shot at the belt… Now, I want to make sure that you know that you have no place being in that ring with the likes of me. Make sure that you know that you have no business going after the X-Division Championship, or any other championship! Not if you’re going to be disrespecting the title in the way that you have.
When you won that X-Division Championship, we usually hear from title holders… about what they’re going to do as the holder of the title. How they’re going to be the greatest champion in the history of New Championship Wrestling. How they’re going to defend the title on a nightly basis. Yeah… we’ve heard it.
There’s nothing wrong with that, though. We’ve heard it before, but there’s nothing wrong with people repeating what someone had previously said because it tells us what they want to do as the holder of that championship.
What is wrong is what you did! You tried to destroy our beloved X-Division Championship… because you saw the past as a disgrace. The people that built that championship to what it is; I don’t respect the people, entirely, but I do respect that championship. I would consider it an honor to just walk around with that championship around my waist.
You might have noted that I didn’t call you a champion. I called you a title holder… I referred to people as title holders. Not as champions. There’s something that was said not too long ago… from a man that I would like to consider a mentor. A brother. A man that knew me from the very beginning of my career, as his sister was the one who helped train me - Doc. As I said, it wasn’t said too long ago.
A title holder… holds the championship. Keeps it pretty, and shined up.
A champion… defends it. A champion is not afraid to lose it, and is not afraid to take on any and all challengers! Not deny one single person.
You wanted to earn the respect of these fans, but can you tell me… please… enlighten all of us, enlighten me, and enlighten the entire NCW roster: What have you done with the X-Division Championship since you’ve won it?
I count zero title defenses.
I count an attempt to discard and replace the X-Division Championship.
I count loss… after loss… after loss.
How many matches have you won since becoming the X-Division Champion?
Even Joe Everyman had a winning streak after winning the National Championship. You’re one of the few, Freakke, one of the few that proves the term of a fluke. You won that championship out of pure luck; and you’re going to lose it to a skilled opponent…
You’re going to lose it to someone who isn’t afraid to call himself a champion, and earn the title of… CHAMPION. Prove to myself… and the entire industry that I am what I say I am. I am a champion. I am the new gift to professional wrestling. I am Collision. I am NCW.
From day one, I told everybody that championships weren’t going to be enough for me. I would not quit until I enter the Hall of Fame. Even then, it’s not going to be enough for me…
Four years in this business, and I can still count on one hand how many title opportunities I’ve had. The Toxic Championship back from Pure Anarchy Wrestling… I was robbed of that match, my very first year in the industry. The company closed when I was supposed to have a shot at that championship against a man that I’ve only dreamed of beating since I never got that chance to have a one on one contest with him.
The No Mercy Championship. A match that I didn’t lose… but I didn’t win. It ended in a double count-out.
Then two attempts at the X-Division Championship.
This is my third shot at the X-Division Championship, and my fifth opportunity at a championship…
Four years later, I stand without a title around my waist. Ever. It’s all going to change this Sunday, Freakke… it’s all going to change when I walk into that match with your belt on the line. I take it away from a man that was just keeping it warm; and it goes to…
A champion.
I am the champion that NCW was looking for since the day that Rob Diamond lost that belt. The belt that was put to shame by… Andrew Jacobsen. The belt that wasn’t respected by even a former great X-Division Champion… because his head wasn’t exactly on keeping the title. It was on Angel. It was on hurting him. It was on getting ahead to the World Championship.
It was put to shame by… you. By a clown.
Transitional champions.
That’s the proper term that has come to be used for all you title holders…
This Sunday. It’s coming back to a champion.
