“It is a wise father that knows his own child.”
-William Shakespeare
I have been a fool...
I have thought that because I was once human that I could relate to people now as one...
I am not human...
Not anymore...
I listened to you...
I trusted you...
I believed in you...
You lied to me...
You told me you would help me find him...
but it was you all along...
You lied and now I see the truth...
I was a fool...
And now...
What we once had...
I don't need anymore...
keep humanity...
keep moral conscience...
keep your lies about a God who loves...
because I'm too old for fairy tales.

*The camera opens on the interior of a catholic church and on the doors shutting as a masked man and his new love leave. The priest, well known as Father Sapienza attends his duty but a sound catches his ears. He calls out in the structure in vain...*
Father Sapienza: Who's there?
*No sound follows but the camera pans on a figure in the dark. The outline of a woman her face downcast. Her eyes shining in the dark. even as crimson tears form. Slowly the figure walks into the darkness her eyes filled with sorrow. A soft sobbing escapes her lips as she steps within and disappears into the dark...*
I remember you...
so happy...
you nurtured me...
you cared for me...
what happened?
What happened to us?
Why did you lie?
Papá, why did you lie to me?
Why did you betray your Maria?
so happy...
you nurtured me...
you cared for me...
what happened?
What happened to us?
Why did you lie?
Papá, why did you lie to me?
Why did you betray your Maria?
*The camera returns on the interior of Du Lac Manor as Sephiroth sits in silence in his study. His thoughts pondering on his own ambitions. Slowly he let's the glass of red liquid rise to his lips when suddenly the doors to the chamber fly open. Maria stands distraught. Her face full of tears. Her eyes streaming with the pain that pulls at her heart. It is a real pain. Genuine in it's wrenching suffering as she runs into her beloveds arms. Falling to her knees at his feet. Far from the proud nobility she has shown in recent weeks. She looks up at him and he down to her as he questions her softly.*
Seph: Darling, what troubles you?
*The words fail her. She cannot speak only tears flowing down. Tears of red. Tears of a monster. She cries at him her words sobbed as she speaks them fighting through the pain.*
Maria (sobbing): H-he... li-lied to m-me.
*Seph rose his hand beseeching her not to be burdened. With a soft gentle hand wrapped in gloves of velvet he traced the outline of her face with his hand. His eyes narrowing into her's gentle with softness unseen by any other.*
Seph: My precious love, who has wronged you? What woe has visited you?
Maria (sobbing): Fa--fa---father Sa-sapienza... HE IS MY FATHER! MY BIRTH FATHER!
*Seph sits back a gasp as she speaks the words. His own face locked into a strange mechanized twisting. Something was sitting behind his eyes, a chess match in which an unseen hand had just surprised him. Still he let it not show. Instead he calmly lifted her head up and spoke softly to her.*
Seph: How do you know such? Did he tell you?
Maria (sobbing): I-I went to see him. I usually hide to make sure h-he is okay. But then mi hermano showed up and that girl and... he...
*Maria's eyes streamed with red tears. Seph stroked her head softly.*
Seph: Darling, I realize you are upset but...
*Maria suddenly looked at him her face stiffening even as she still cries.*
Maria: Upset? UPSET?! HE LIED TO ME! ALL MY LIFE HE LIED TO ME! He claimed to be searching for my father! Claimed to be helping me and mi hermano! All the while he was watching over his own sins! His own... mistakes! I... I can't believe this. All my affections, all my trust and all this time the man that I trusted even more than you, mi amor... he...
*Seph sensed something. A strange sensation on the air as if the room's temperature had dropped. The house was stirring and he looked into her eyes, they were filled with hurt. Confusion. The look of someone with no idea what to do.*
Seph: Darling, he is your father. You have to know he was protecting you...
Maria: He was protecting himself! He was protecting himself and that puta...!!!
*Maria's hands drew to her lips. She had just called her own mother a whore and now she felt the chill. Heard the house stirring about her. Seph felt it to and his lips curled into a sneer hidden behind a gentle smile for his distraught bride.*
Seph: Darling, I hate to see you so upset. Is there nothing I can do? Whatever you desire you may have it. If you want to talk to him. Confront him. Whatever you wish I will have it happen.
*Maria's eyes looked up at him. Her eyes steeling themselves as rage and pain mixed. She could feel the beast clawing at her. The rage fueling something within her. Growing... a desire. A desire Seph knew all too well.*
Maria: I want him punished...
*Seph was taken aback by the request but in her eyes he saw the fire. The flame blazing before him and for the first time he saw in her eyes his own anger, hatred and fury set and reflected back upon the figure of her hatred. She meant it so with a smile he comforted her.*
Maria: I want him to pay for this!
Seph: Why?
Maria: He is just like all the rest. They see me and mock me. They laugh at me. They ridicule me. They call me names and now I see the truth. All those times I asked him how the search was going he laughed at me too. He lied to me. Misguided me. It was his idea that I join the convent. His idea to lock me away. All this time I thought it was to better me. But, no... it was for his own selfish needs! I was his error. The proof of his sin. He did this to me. Even now I can hear those putas mocking me. I'm a joke to them all... I want justice!
*Seph rises up holding her in his arms. His smile a half smirk, his eyes dancing in delight as he asks the question that gnaws at his mind.*
Seph: Justice... or revenge?
*She looks into his eyes her own set with wild ambition.*
Maria: If I must settle for revenge then so be it.
*Seph smiled at her then whistled... the whistle resounded in the house until it reached the ears of Sothren. Sothren's head perked up as Cleo looked from her sketchbook on her bed.*
Cleo: What?
Soth: I know that whistle...
*Sothren hops off the bed and bolts for the door.*
You were my joy...
you were my everything...
why didn't you tell me?
I would have accepted you...
I would have honored you...
You betrayed me...
You betrayed her...
You choose your duty over us...
Over love...
You choose wrong...
I will show you the error of that decision.
you were my everything...
why didn't you tell me?
I would have accepted you...
I would have honored you...
You betrayed me...
You betrayed her...
You choose your duty over us...
Over love...
You choose wrong...
I will show you the error of that decision.
*The camera cuts to the door of the church while Father Sapienza says his nightly prayers. Lighting a single candle in the church he drops to his knees calling out into the dark.*
Father Sapienza: Dios del padre, esté con mi hijo. Protéjalo. Vigilar él. Entregúelo de las manos de hombres malvados. Él es un buenos hombre y vigilar mi hija, Mari...
*Suddenly the sound of a loud banging is heard in the distance. Father Sapienza looks up only briefly and as he looks back the candle that illuminates the dark around him suddenly extinguishes. He rises to his feet in alarm when suddenly the two heavy steel reinforced doors to his parish fly open. Two boots come crashing down and in step the two brothers, Executioner and Abel armed with chains and a sledge hammer.*
Ex: KNOCK KNOCK! See what I did there, Abel?
*Abel just looks at him and nods before Ex turns back to the priest and slowly begins to walk down the aisle. Father Sapienza stands his ground however, strong in his conviction.*
Father Sapienza: You dare disrupt the house of God you bastardos!
Ex: We ain't exactly the church going type, you know?
*With that Cleo and Sothren enter the double doors. Sothren tries to walk in but stops short feeling a sudden shiver of pain set in.*
Soth: F***ing churches!
Cleo: I will handle it. YOU TWO! TAKE THAT F***ING CROSS DOWN!!!
*Ex looks back and smiles under the mask.*
Ex: So much for subtlety. Right, Abel?
*With that the two lumbering behemoths make their way down the aisle. Father Sapienza stands before them. Determined to protect his home.*
Father Sapienza: NO! I won't let you!
*Ex doesn't even stop as he just pushes the priest away suddenly when the Father goes to grab him enraged at their blasphemy Abel releases a hard right hand to the priest jaw. Father Sapienza goes down blood trickling from his now busted lip. Ex and Abel wrap the chains around the cross and pull easily ripping it down. Sothren, no longer fettered, skips down the aisle. Cleo in tow. Sothren leaps over the first pew coming down like some sort of demented jester right beside the ailing priest.*
Soth: Hey, there, Padre! How the hell are you? Ouch... you don't look so good.
Father Sapienza: Whatever you want, you won't find it here! Tempestad isn't here!
Soth: Oh we know, Padre... we ain't here for him...
Cleo: We are here for you. But don't worry, if you pray to me I'll make sure he's quick.
Father Sapienza: There is but one God pretender!
*Cleo's face suddenly frowns and she digs her stiletto heels into the priest's hand. Her lips curled into a sadistic smile.*
Cleo: I will not be mocked.
*Sothren pulls out a long survival knife planting it firmly in front of the priest embedding it on the ground.*
Soth: It's time to pay the piper, pastor!
*Defiantly he spits in Sothren's face and Sothren wipes the spit away from his eyes smiling. Suddenly rage hits his face and he pulls out the knife raising it high. Suddenly a sound is heard. A voice booming in the dark.*
Voice: ENOUGH, SOTHREN!!!
*They all step away as Seph steps in the light. His eyes glowing faintly as if his eyes were cat's eyes. The father looks up in defiance and stares at him.*
Father Sapienza: COWARD!
Seph: Mind your tongue, Father. It was not by my command these things are done.
Father Sapienza: Liar!
Seph: So much like your son. Or is he like you? Hmmm... intriguing prospect. But I am unfortunately not lying. I just felt that maybe there needs to be a little family reunion, don't you?
*With that he side steps and Maria slowly walks into the light her face down cast her eyes closed, her dress made of the finest material. Looking very much like a pale shade of his past. His beautiful daughter of which he was so proud.*
Father Sapienza: Maria?
*With that her eyes open, they are not the eyes he knew. Cat's eyes gleaming in the dark as her mouth opened slowly and seductively in the dark. Her mouth salivating and her fangs bearing as with a low purr from a lioness.*
Maria: Hello... father.
*He cries out as she rushes forward. The others looking on in delight.*
As my fists crack against bone...
I see my life flash before my eyes...
I see mi madre dying...
I see mi hermano cradling me in his arms...
I hear the taunts of the girls in the school yard...
I hear him saying he could not find my father...
I see mi hermano wrestle his first match from a high school gym...
I see him on TV in the convent...
I see mi amor in a shop in Williamsburg...
I see mi amor standing at the aisle...
I feel myself die...
I feel myself live again...
I see my first match...
my first loss...
and another...
and another...
I hear the taunting of others...
All the horrid words they beat me down with...
By the time my fists stop I barely recognize him...
I see him for what he is...
Bone and blood...
And I feast...
I see my life flash before my eyes...
I see mi madre dying...
I see mi hermano cradling me in his arms...
I hear the taunts of the girls in the school yard...
I hear him saying he could not find my father...
I see mi hermano wrestle his first match from a high school gym...

*The camera cuts to the interior of Du Lac Manor as the doors open once more. She steps inside the sound of howling and laughter outside on the lawn. Her dress is torn, her face caked in red stains, her hands stained red from her finger tips to her elbow. She slowly walks with careful steps into the bathroom she stares at the mirror, no tears, no smile, just a blank dull dead expression on her face.*
You all mock me...
You all disavow me...
You say I don't matter...
All I hear when you speak is the laughter of girls on my playground...
the taunting...
the chants and rhymes...
I don't hear Ashlie Ember...
I don't hear Ayla St. James...
All I hear is laughter...
You all disavow me...
You say I don't matter...
All I hear when you speak is the laughter of girls on my playground...
the taunting...
the chants and rhymes...
I don't hear Ashlie Ember...
I don't hear Ayla St. James...
All I hear is laughter...
*She turns on the spigot and begins to wash her hands. She scrubs hard with soap trying to get the stain off. She scrubs harder and harder...*
You all don't care about little Maria...
You don't care how I feel...
He always protected you...
He always held me back...
Don't you see I had to do what I did?
Don't you see...
he had to die...
You don't care how I feel...
He always protected you...
He always held me back...
Don't you see I had to do what I did?
Don't you see...
he had to die...
*She scrubs even when her hands are cleaning. Frantically as if they were still filthy. Harder and harder she scrubs tears streaming from her eyes... *
You all mock me...
Even Emma mocks me with her silence...
All you do is laugh...
All you do is mock...
All you do is say I don't matter...
Well the girl who nobody noticed, noticed you...
And she is going to make...
you...
pay...
I have to...
Even Emma mocks me with her silence...
All you do is laugh...
All you do is mock...
All you do is say I don't matter...
Well the girl who nobody noticed, noticed you...
And she is going to make...
you...
pay...
I have to...
*She collapses next to the sink the water still running. She sits in the floor her eyes running crimson, running as fast as the water in the sink... her face is a river of red. A river of blood.*
I have to.
