Deuteronomy 4:1: Hear now, O Israel, the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

“Welcome home, Jason.”
Gabriel Karras stood behind the still kneeling Jason Blair, with his arms folded. He spoke with a calm and underlying confidence that let Jason know; he was indeed home.
“Gabriel...”
Jason looked up at Karras, and knew that God had sent him.
“I am ready to serve the Lord. Show me how.”
Gabriel smiled knowingly. He motioned for Blair to rise
“Come then, and I will teach you how to take that which the Lord is giving you.”

“I'm beginning to see God's plan for me. I'm beginning to see my place in God's Battlegrounds.”
“It isn't too difficult to understand. To put it simply, I am destined to take that which the Lord is giving to me. His reward for coming to him, after being lost for so long. It's well known that being wealthy earns you nothing in God's eyes. I understand that worldly possessions, and the trappings of a fast lifestyle mean less than nothing in God's kingdom.”
“The National Title, however, will be his miracle, performed through my actions in that wrestling ring. It will be worn as a symbol of God's power, around my waste. Worn so that the men I do battle with know that they have been judged.”
“And all of them must have been judged. Why else would God put them in front of me? Thanks to Gabriel, I am now God's warrior.”
“There is a saying that people use often. It's one of the reasons I stayed away from God for so long, but now I know better.”
“God is mysterious.”
“But these are the people that do not know God. These are people that do not respect his wishes. People that bend and break the rules and laws of The Bible. People like Xavier Williams.”
Matthew 12:31: And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
“I've been in this church for two days, this being the second night. I've learned a great many things here. However, even before I stepped into a church, I knew not to mock the Lord. You walk around and call yourself “Black Jesus,” and you do it without a second thought. It's no wonder you're one of my first opponents.”
“If there is one thing that I have learned, however, it's that our god is ruthless in his vengeance. You see, Xavier, this defeat will be one that you will remember. This isn't just any old match, where you will recover from injuries and live on. This is a match where the stakes are high. The National Title will be ripped away, when it was so close.”
“Not just because you're underestimating me. You think because I haven't won a title here, that I am unproven? Have you seen me in the ring yet, Xavier? You speak of the dirtsheets and the talk in the locker room and chalk it up to promise. It isn't promise, Xavier, it's fear. They're scared to step into the ring with me, just like you should be. More now than ever. They were scared of me when I was nothing more than a scared rabid dog. Lost and roaming the streets, taking bites off of whatever was thrown at me.”
“Now I have purpose. Direction. Now I have God.”
“But that isn't why the National Title will be taken out of your reach. It is because you have mocked the Lord, Xavier. Because you are guilty of the most unforgivable sin. Blasphemy is taken lightly in this sinful world, because it is not enforced in the laws of men.”
“Sunday, not only will I be God's warrior, I will be God's enforcer.”
“And you will not be forgiven.”

“We eat like this every night? This is fantastic.”
Blair hurried his words in between spoonfuls of soup. He shared a small table with Amanda, who largely ignored him. She seemed to be unimpressed and unsure of this stranger who was now living in the church she shared with others that she knew so well.
“Yes, every night we eat what we cook. If you will be staying here, you will also be expected to contribute.”
“I've already decided to sign over my pay from New Championship Wrestling to the care of this church. I've spoken to Gabriel about it.”
“That is very generous.”
“I have much to learn here, and much to accomplish in the name of our Lord. For all that he is giving me, I want to repay Gabriel in any way possible.”
Jason slurps the rest of the soup from the bowl. He leaves the spoon and the empty bowl on the table, stands up and walks away. Amanda doesn't even look up to notice his exit.
